  1. Hi Dave, The only time Properties option appears in the contextual menu is when you click on a layer in Layer Panel created by Master Pages. And even then you only get scaling options and not the colour for a layer. I could be missing something here of course. :-)
  2. I don't think your conjecture here is true. The guys have had a Publishing Program called PagePlus for more than 20 years, so they know a thing or two about publishing. I think they are trying to implement something better. But this is a trial and error process, so expect things to change while we are in beta.
  3. Similar functionality exists in inDesign and QuarkXpress, so, obviously, one would hope that this persona (which by the way is a great way to deal with that) will eventually show up in Publishers as well.
  4. While waiting for the implementation of Book functionality in Publisher it might be a good idea to implement Append Pages to Publisher documents first. This obviously raises an issue of importing pages of different sizes. But this can be checked during the import and disallow if pages to not match dimension-wise. Or simply allow pages to be automatically rescaled during the import. Combining documents this way has many benefits whether the Book functionality is there or not.
  5. That's something that came to my mind too. I think Apple is working on another solution. I don't think they want to abandon automation at all, they want to improve it. Who knows some sort of simplified Swift for automation?
  6. Dialogs, menus are all part the GUI. Serif can elect to allow JavaScript to call all those elements which are part of the software anyway. So, no, I don't think JavaScript needs to be extended to deal with that. Interesting times ahead.
  7. Contextual menus should definitely be improved upon. That what they there are for. Early days.
  8. Well, you can use Transform pane for that. Just input the numbers you want there and there you go. But if you are looking for something more akin to Object Styles as inDesign, then no, that has not been implemented yet. I would very much welcome Object Styles in Publisher by the way. Edit: I know we have Object Styles in Publishers but I mean comprehensive Object Styles akin to inDesign.
  9. And someone else will have 3 other features without which there will be little point considering Publisher, and someone else will have yet 3 other points, etc. I know what you are saying but be realistic. All come in due course. What so nice to see, though, is that people really want Publisher to succeed and this is great to see. And succeed it will.
  10. Vertically aligning text in a frame: Text > Vertical Alignment Text Frame Padding: View > Studio > Text Frame and check out Insets Text Wrap: Text > Text Wrap check out all options there.
  11. Check Position and Transfer area in Character style - Bottom-Right for superscript and subscript.
  12. I love the way the Styles and the Style Decorations are shaping up. A couple of suggestions: 1. When applying Paragraph Decoration to a heading, for example, that is at the top of the text frame the decoration may go above the text frame. It would be great to have "Keep within the Text Frame" option to push this down a bit to align properly to the top of the text frame. (inDesign) 2. When deleting a text style it would be great to be able to have an option to apply another style to the affected paras before the style is deleted. (inDesign)
  13. Unless I'm mistaken what you want, spread evenly columns/rows is already implemented. Just select the table, right-mouse click to get the contextual menu and choose it from there.
  14. I'm afraid you need to give us an example of what you mean by Apex (peak).
  15. I've just noticed that we don't have brushes panel in Publisher. Has this been reported yet? We have a brush stroke in the strokes panel but the stroke cannot be modified because the brushes panel is missing.
  16. Have you tried to disable guides with Control + W on Mac or View > Hide All Guides?
