Question regarding tables
Seneca replied to dcarvalho84's topic in Feedback for Affinity Publisher V1 on Desktop
The quickest way to accomplish what you want is to create a table with the right numbers of rows and columns but keep it empty except of the first cell. And then just copy the text from here for example: https://www.timeanddate.com/calendar/?year=2019&country=9 and paste it to your table. But make sure that you select all the cells from that link, even the invisible ones. Hope this helps. -

Nothing controversial there. We all have our preferences and we should respect that.

Copy and paste images from clipboard

It would be useful to know what file type you are copying across. I tried to copy jpg and it worked for me but I'm on Mac. But it should also work on Windows. -

File crashes when object is moved
Seneca replied to Flo-rian's topic in [ARCHIVE] Publisher beta on macOS threads
It doesn't crash for me but it slows down the computer considerably, in fact freezes it for a while. But once the Text Wrap is disabled all works as expected. I think this is something to do with text wrap applied to a complex object not behaving as expected. -
Stroke and rules styles

I've noticed that too. The devs will need to look at it again. I would suggest to report it as a bug or a feature request for the dotted pattern to match corners. -

Next to the line icon there is Dash Line icon. You should be able to achieve a similar effect there. Although bevel and miter joints seem to behave in a similar manner. This could be a bug. -
Initial Words in Text Style
Seneca replied to osang's topic in Feedback for Affinity Publisher V1 on Desktop
This seems to work as follows: type the following in the end character field: ", hold option key and hit tab, then type ". Make sure you have opening quotation marks followed by option tab followed by ending quotation marks. -

Initial Words Paragraph Style option needs some more TLC. -

I know exactly what you are talking about. I use it to centre a diamond dingbat that is in between the Issue Number and a Date in our leaflets. Very handy indeed. -

To reposition the ruler origin:

You can double-click the Page Origin Icon in Publisher and it too will snap back to the 0,0 origin. I kind of like this implementation. You don't have to drag it from the top-left ruler intersection to get to the page. It's already there at the 0,0 origin. On a bigger screen that's a big advantage. -
Text Editing Conundrum
Seneca replied to Seneca's topic in Feedback for Affinity Publisher V1 on Desktop
This is what the Unicode Standard has to say about that line separation in New Line Guidelines 5.8 ------ http://www.unicode.org/versions/Unicode11.0.0/ch05.pdf Line Separator and Paragraph Separator A paragraph separator—independent of how it is encoded—is used to indicate a separation between paragraphs. A line separator indicates where a line break alone should occur, typically within a paragraph. For example: This is a paragraph with a line separator at this point, causing the word “causing” to appear on a different line, but not causing the typical paragraph indentation, sentence breaking, line spacing, or change in flush (right, center, or left paragraphs). For comparison, line separators basically correspond to HTML <BR>, and paragraph sep- arators to older usage of HTML <P> (modern HTML delimits paragraphs by enclosing them in <P>...</P>). In word processors, paragraph separators are usually entered using a keyboard RETURN or ENTER; line separators are usually entered using a modified RETURN or ENTER, such as SHIFT-ENTER. ------- Whats needed is for Publisher to treat these lines to also obey sense lines. -

Viertel-Geviert or 'quarter-em'?
Seneca replied to Sabine 108's topic in Feedback for Affinity Publisher V1 on Desktop
You can also copy this char from inDesign or simply type a unicode char code and it will be added to the text. If you are on a Mac then you could check the link below: https://poynton.ca/notes/misc/mac-unicode-hex-input.html -

Frankly, any term will do as long as this feature is implemented. But if it is implemented I'm sure we can come up with something appropriate. -

Hello Petar, This is not a bug. That's how soft returns work. And that how they differ from paragraph returns. What I would like Publisher to do is to have some sort of a tick that wold say "Honour Sense Lines" or something like that. Not everyone encounters this sort of thing so it is an edge case but it would be very useful if the A-Team tacked that.
