  1. I didn't want to complicate the matters in my earlier post (I noticed it as well) but there seems to be a problem with this in Publisher. I would advise you to report this strange behaviour in the Affinity Publisher Bugs section.
  2. I am on Publisher Beta 531 but you can try this: 1 Update the table of contents 2. Disable Numbered List from the top bar. Let me know whether it works for you.
  3. You only loose track changes if you accept the changes and save the Word document. If you close your Word document without saving you don't loose anything. So I would advise you to accept all the track changes copy your text to Publisher and close your Word document without saving any changes. Currently, Publisher doesn't have any track changes facility as far as I am aware of so the solution above should not cause you any slip-ups. :-)
  4. Can you attach the file so I can have a look at it and see whether I can offer any explanation.
  5. Thanks @Jon P, Files uploaded I live dangerously, on latest betas so even my macOS Catalina is on Version 10.15.3 beta (19D62e) so this might be the cause of it though.
  6. I have a problem I hadn't experienced before with any earlier Publisher betas. The files that used to open until .531 beta crash now. These are usually files with 32 pages or more. Sometimes a document crashes a couple of seconds after opening the file without any interaction on my part. If you send me an upload link I can share these files with you privately.
  7. Problem is that not all fonts have this analphabetic symbol. What is Publisher to do in this scenario? Ignore the command, substitute it for a hyphen? This is tricky.
  8. I can't reproduce that on my system. Would you mind sharing with me set by step instructions that makes Publisher crash for you?
  9. Hi @garrettm30, Well, it works for me here. I created text frames on master pages and it works and then I tried it on text boxes created on pages and it works. I've just downloaded the latest Publisher beta and I tried on that and it works.
  10. I mentioned inDesign here because some upstream mentioned that it works in inDesign. Anyway, I was talking from the top of my head up until now. But this time I decided to remap the page up and page down keys to what you want and it works at least on a Mac. So the limitation to are taking about doesn't exist at least on a Mac.
  11. Like I said before. There is no limitation there. What about keyboards without extended key set where there is no key up or key dow. How is this supposed to work? Because of that you have the option to remap this key to any shortcut you want. And on a Mac inDesign doesn't understand page up or page down keys. So it's not as universal as you make it to be.
  12. This is not a limitation. You are not limited to the Control key only. Please try Option + PageUp and Option + ageDown to remap these shortcuts. You could also try Command+Shift+PageUp, Command+Shift+PageDown as an alternative. This will be more familiar to people coming from inDesign.
  13. Can you elaborate a bit more on that as your statement above does' take any sense to me.
  14. This has been suggested before. As far as I remember one of the developers said that this might be done in the future but nothing more than that.
  15. You seem to think that the Adobe Paragraph Composer is the panacea of typography and that programs that don't offer this feature are vastly inferior. Like I said earlier in this thread there is so much more to typesetting than that. Although my go to application is inDesign I think that QuarkXPress does a better job at typesetting text than inDesign. I would rather have Pair Kerning option in Affinity ( a la QuarkXPress) than Adobe's Paragraph Composer to be frank. If only Affinity extended Optical Alignment to include pair kerning option that would be awesome.
  16. I'm on a Mac and I can open the file without any problems (latest Publisher beta). Are you on the latest Publisher beta?
  17. I'm sorry, I don't want to sound condescending but there might be two reasons why you won't use them: 1. You don't understand what they are for 2. You use very few paragraph or character styles in general
  18. If I understand you correctly, then, we already have that. Just drag the bottom right handle and the text within the box will change its size.
  19. Well, I think there is. This is from Affinity Publisher Help: To convert the colour space of file to be opened to the current working space: Prior to opening the file, from Affinity Publisher>Preferences (Colour option), check the Convert opened files to working space option. Options exist to warn that a file's working space will be converted, or that an unprofiled file will be assigned the current working space's profile.
