best of luck should you choose to accept this mission

I didn't bother matching the colours on your table. I didn't bother creating Text styles that would match the styles of your tables exactly.

The only thing Publisher cannot achieve is the round corners and cell vertical gradient fill (which I asked for already).

But I think this comes darn close to what you want to achieve.

Yes, you can add as many rows in between as you need and the rows will continue to alternate.

    Best regards

If you are comparing products that can edit import and export pdf's all the competition has this feature.

I'm not sure what you mean but Publisher can import PDFs and edit them.

Publisher is what inDesign is and not a replacement of Adobe Acrobat. You wouldn't compare inDesign to Adobe Acrobat would you. You obviously have no idea what you are talking about.

I agree that switching to Affinity Photo would allow for a better workflow for most users for this specific scenario and that this is certainly not a "deal breaker", but that doesn't decrease the value of the feature being requested.

    My initial thoughts exactly.

But then, not everybody wishes to edit PSD files in Affinity Photo. So, the suggestion of being able to set a photo editing application for picture files in Publisher seems quite a good one.

We have asked this for threads where Staff did not have the chance to reply, and they were mainly pre-1.8.3 reports. I see Paul has already replied to your pinning issue

@Gabe, thank you for your response.

Regarding the Right Tab. There is no need for me to attach any documents. Please create a simple 1 page document fill it with text and insert a Right Tab anywhere in the document.

Then try to find this Right Tab with Regular Expressions. This doesn't work.

The Right Tab can be found, however, with Normal search, not using Regular Expressions.

So what I am saying is that the Regular Expressions engine is having a problem finding the Right Tab.

Affinity should offer creating shortcut sets were we can start adding shotcuts from zero, where only a few of standard ones should exist -- like shotcuts for "New, Open, Cut, Copy, Paste...".

I hope I'm not misinterpreting your suggestion but we already have a button "Clear All Shortcuts" in the Preferences panel. Isn't that what you are looking for?

    Can you please try this:

I tried to find the Right Tab again and it still doesn't work, even after renaming the Affinity folder to old. I forgot to mention that this doesn't work with Regular Expressions search. Normal search is finding it. Sorry. (I edited my earlier post)

I have reported this before here. You might be interested in other comments regarding GREP:

Regarding pinned graphics not moving with the text to the next column. Please enable "Keep Paragraph Together" to see that. Here is the original post:

  7. We were asked to re-report issues that weren't addressed by the latest updates, so here they are:

    1. Find & Replace
Regular Expressions engine is unable find the Right Tab.

    2. Pinned Graphic
Pinned graphic to the text with columns moves with the text but if the text if forced to jump to the next column because of "Keep Paragraph Together" then the pinned graphic will not jump to the next column with the associated text.

In Illustrator this would be a simple thing. Select one of the boxes he is talking about and in the menu you can select all objects with the same fill colour, or the same stroke colour, or same fill and stroke, etc.

I wouldn't call colour management in Affinity apps a mess. It's just that's it's not there yet. But we learned last week that this is the next thing the developers are going to work on.

  9. There is bug in line transparency in Decorations. If you have more than one line set to transparency, reversing the transparency in one of the lines removes the transparency applied to other line(s). This doesn't happen if you have transparent fill. This seems to behave correctly.

Another problem I noticed is that you only get to apply transparency if you move the middle point. This is a bit disconcerting at first.

Also, I would prefer if I could rename each decoration to something more meaningful. It's difficult to know what Decoration 1 or Decoration 2 does unless one selects it and looks for applied options. I remember when the Publisher beta was first released I tried to see how many decorations I could have. I remember I added 1,024 decorations (just for kicks) and I'm sure the program would happily keep adding more. So in general, I don't think that one wold have more than 10 decorations applied to a given text but it would be great to be able to rename them to something more meaningful.

Finally, there is no way of controlling the direction of transparency (at least I am not ware of it). One can only have left to right or right to left direction and that's it.This unnecessarily limits the options. Why not top to bottom, bottom to top or diagonally. This may not be applicable to lines but it should be to the fills.

Is there a way to open the file? I got this from my graphic designer who works with Photoshop and doens't know why I can not open it with Affinity Photo.

As @Joachim_L said, this is not a PSD file. Whoever sent you this file mistakenly sent you a wrong file.

Well swap the .psd with .txt extension and open it in a text editor and you will realise that this file has more to do with a web program than with a Photoshop file.

    Best regards

    feature designer for Macromedia FreeHand

    Hello @Dwig. Welcome aboard.

I used FreeHand quite a lot in its heyday before it was culled by Adobe. So it's nice to have someone here who participated in the development of this incredible product.
