  1. The only "perfect" solution to convert from .indd to .idml is to use inDesign. Any other solution will alway be second best.
  2. I'm not sure what you mean. As @Raff said in his post above yours. Just download Viva Designer. It works on Windows, Mac and Linux. Open your inDesign files and save them as .idml. The open them in Publisher. Done.
  3. Hello Petar, This is what I get when I open the document you attached in your initial post. styles.mov
  4. Hello Petar, I would start with getting rid of all the overrides in your styles throughout the document. I mentioned that before in my earlier post about this project. If I go to the Preflight Panel and refresh the Table of Contents (Table of Contents is Out of Date) then your TOC styles revert to something else. Once that is sorted out it will be much easier for you to apply the styles you want.
  5. Please remember that Publisher will not open native inDesign files (.indd). However, if you export your files as .idml files Publisher will attempt to open them. If you don't have access to inDesign any more then your only option is to either use IDMarkz program that will open your inDesign files in Publisher or ask someone to save them as .idml for you. This program is not free though. And yes, this forum deals with both Mac and Windows queries. EDIT: I hope you are also aware of the following conversation:
  6. It all depends on your layout, etc. But you could try adding columns to the text frame itself. That will obviously depend whether you can get away with one frame only. Another option is to use guides for this particular page.
  7. The jury is still out on the usefulness of this in Typography. Certainly, Variable Fonts Technology is being adopted by Web more quickly than by the traditional media. Even the folks at Adobe express their concerns when it comes to VF.
  8. The fact that you've given all your money to Serif and not to Microsoft is a big win in my books.
  9. In that case I have misunderstood your post, sorry.
  10. I think that .tiff and .tif should be acceptable file formats in Affinity products because they both refer to the same thing. I simply didn't think that your assessment of .tiff as being wrong was right.
  11. You seem to be an expert in file formats. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/TIFF
  12. I hope it won't be a stripped down version as Photoshop was when it was released on iPad.
  13. Completely agree. I want my incoming text to adopt the styles I set up in the document. I am waiting for the next Publisher beta to see where we stand in this regard. Also, deleting styles and being able to substitute the about to be deleted style with another one is something that we should also have.
  14. Hello @Petar Petrenko, I've just downloaded your file and had a look. Same problem as in my other comment (regarding the table of contents). If you delete all the overrides by clicking on the T icon next to the style in question at the top of the panel you will then be able to edit your style in the Paragraph Styles Panel.
  15. Hello @Petar Petrenko, I would like to draw your attention to the fact that you have overrides in all of your styles. Please have a look at the short video. It may shed some light at why things don't work as you 'd expect. I think you need to fix your styles first before trying to create the table of contents because as you'll notice once you delete the overrides the TOC entry disappears. styles.mov
  16. This is the answer. So, there is no such thing as leading inbuilt in the font. Affinity picks up the numbers from the font metrics, meaning they analyse, most probably, the ascenders and descenders of a font and whatever they want and they come up with a "Default" for a font. But there is no such thing as a default leading, a number, that they read from the font. 🙂
  17. I never said it wasn't. Precisely, that the job of a typographer to find the best leading for a given font at a given size. My "I never heard of any font designer concerned about the leading." was meant as I never heard that a font designer would enshrine a leading size in a type they design.
  18. I found this post by Dave Harris: Posted June 28, 2019 As Walt says, we get the default from the font metrics. You can however change that for new documents via Edit > Defaults > Save. So that settles it then.
  19. Hello @thomaso and @KipV. I'm afraid that's not quite true. They are different apps but they are built on the same foundation. There shouldn't be any issues copying text between these apps. If there is a problem this is not it.
  20. I downloaded your file and opened it in Publisher 1.9.4.651 successfully. I can also edit the text so I'm not sure why you experience problems at your end. I resaved the file and uploaded it here if you think that this may be of any help to you. wayfinding2020_v1.afpub
  21. Hi @garrettm30, it's all done with Table Styles. Have a look at my file and at the View-> Studio->Table Formats (if it's not opened). Double-click Hosting Plans Table and explore the styles. Have a look at the table format on the left of the window. Observe where the Table Head ends and where the Table Footer begins (dotted lines) everything in between are the contents of the table. If you set the table this way the raws will observe alternating colour. I didn't bother naming most of styles, etc. But once you have table styles applied the alternating rows work as they should.
