I can't give space when text align-right
Seneca replied to Gokhan Eser's topic in V1 Bugs found on macOS
Please enable Text->Show special characters. I can't tell from your screencast whether these are all separate lines or whether this is one paragraph. If it is one paragraph you shouldn't be able to indent your text on either side of the text box. If these are independent lines then this behaviour is consistent with how inDesign works as well. EDIT: Sorry, designer doesn't not have that option (Show Special Characters). But if you have Publisher you could try to open it in Publisher and then my suggestion of enamelling special characters would shed some more light on it. -
XML import request
Seneca replied to Samwise's topic in Feedback for Affinity Publisher V1 on Desktop
Your best bet at the moment is to use Find and Replace facility from within Publisher to find styles you assigned in a Word processing app and replace it with styles you created in Publisher. Unless you have hundreds of styles this should not be that much of a problem. Publisher is not smart enough to assign styles available in Publisher with the style names imported from external sources. I hope you are aware that Publisher can import .docx files as well.- 17 replies

XML import request
Seneca replied to Samwise's topic in Feedback for Affinity Publisher V1 on Desktop
If you formatted your document using Paragraph Styles and Character Styles you don't need to do it again. All styles are copied over to Publisher and you can continue editing your project from there.- 17 replies

Auto Layout and Design System Library
Seneca replied to Sivadharshan's topic in Feedback for Affinity Designer V1 on Desktop
That's a great suggestion. -
In that case how are we to talk about it and offer any assistance or even learn from your experience if things cannot be fleshed out first.

Unless you post examples of where Publishers Styles don't work for you at the moment your post is useless.

Seneca replied to MattP's topic in [ARCHIVE] Designer beta on macOS threads
I can confirm that. Publisher is also affected. -
Width limitation of text frames
Seneca replied to Joachim_L's topic in [ARCHIVE] Publisher beta on Windows threads
I managed to put 2 numbers in the circle by manipulating the Positioning and Transform, Baseline in the Character Panel. I think this should be looked at by the Serif team because clearly there is room for more text in these boxes. Regards textframes.afpub -
Affinity Publisher Customer Beta - 1.8.4.663

Undoubtedly that's very true, and I took that into account, but even then the difference in speed is striking. -
Affinity Publisher Customer Beta - 1.8.4.663
Seneca replied to AdamW's topic in [ARCHIVE] Publisher beta on macOS threads
Just tested Publisher to open a particular IDML file created in inDesign. Earlier Publisher betas would crash on opening this particular IDML file. This time Publisher opened it without any problems. I also measured, however imperfectly, the time taken to open this file by both Publisher and inDesign. Publisher opened that file in 5 seconds whereas inDesign opened it in 53 seconds. So the improvements are really great. Thank you. -
Applying paragraph style to text with existing character styles
Seneca replied to zkarj's topic in V1 Bugs found on macOS
This should be simple. Did you try to use the following command? Apply "Your Style" to Paragraphs and Preserve Character Formatting. Right-mouse click on your paragraph style to get these option: -

This should not take longer than 2 minutes. -

I suggest to create Italic and Bold Character Styles (and any other Character Styles that you want to preserve). Then search for italics, bolds in your text using Find & Replace command in Affinity Publisher and replace them with Italic, Bold Character Styles. Once you do that you can then start applying your Paragraph Styles to your text and all your italic and bold instances will be preserved. You can then redefine your Character and Paragraph Styles as you wish. Regards -
Refreshing embedded Documents resets pages
Seneca replied to Tim Nikischin's topic in V1 Bugs found on macOS
Not the best grammar in the world. 🙂 What I meant to say was to forget indesign in this instance and keep this feature if it's useful. -

Refreshing embedded Documents resets pages
Seneca replied to Tim Nikischin's topic in V1 Bugs found on macOS
It might seem like it but it's not. You are embedding it as read only once. The embedded file does not continue that process and so it's not an infinite loop. -
Refreshing embedded Documents resets pages
Seneca replied to Tim Nikischin's topic in V1 Bugs found on macOS
If there is an issue with this workflow it should be fixed. It would be a great pity if this was disallowed/disabled. There is nothing wrong with this workflow. The document on those pages is not being edited but simply viewed which means it is Read Only. Just because inDesign doesn't do it this it should not be allowed here. -

I must be thick but I don't understand what you are trying to accomplish.
