  1. Thinking about it a bit more, the most appropriate solution to this would be to option double-click the asset to place it on the page/artboard. That wold leave the current behaviour as is.
  2. Hello @M Black, It is possible to do that. You just need to explore the Notes panel a bit more. When you open the Notes panel, switch to Endnotes tab, go to the Format section and instead of the hash (#) option select the tab in Node Body by clicking on the submenu. That should insert tabs instead of the dot (space) that you have now. You can then reformat your endnotes to have the hanging indent. Because you pasted you text from the Word document you may find that you will have 2 tabs instead of one just after the number. So you need to clean that up as well.
  3. Hello @ernst.w, I hope you realise that Publisher is not going to open inDesign files with 100% accuracy. For smaller documents this may work but for long documents you are going to run into a lot of problems. It might be much quicker just to start from scratch in Publisher and import files from in Design as you go along. There is no 1 to 1 translation between these 2 programs.
  4. Hello @MikeTO, Your quote above made me realise that this actually works in Publisher. Just import the styles of a new template over the old one overriding the old styles. Problem solved. And all done in one step. Thanks for that hint. 🙂
  5. I'd be interested to know what those other use cases are. Frankly I don't understand what you mean by a wrong behaviour. I struggle to see the downsides of it. I've used inDesign since the first beta release so I don't remember when this feature became available but I've always used this without any issues. Your solution works as well and it should be employed when the need arises. Both have its place.
  6. Hello @MikeTo, inDesign makes it very simple. Copying text from one template to another will make the text adopt the style of the new template. This, to me, is so natural that I'm surprised people find it strange. Let me stress that this works only if the templates have the same style names. No need to engage in any of the processes descried above. Please have a look at the video below and how it works in inDesign. Just copy the text to another template and boom, I'm done. If I had to go into the root of F&R styles in 200 documents I would be still at it. I'm hoping that someone from the team Affinity will chime in because otherwise Publisher is not going to replace inDesign for me any time soon. styles2.mov
  7. That's not workable in a situation where you have to move hundred of files to a new template. I would like to hear from the "management" what the expected behaviour of this scenario is as that would be a real show stopper for people working with long documents constantly repurposing and updating it to new templates.
  8. This issue has dogged Publisher since the very beginning and was reported a number of times by other users of the forum and me. So, I'm hoping that this problem will be addressed in this beta cycle. My work involved working with liturgical documents. The text, once formatted, never changes. That is, once styles are applied to the text, this text is done. What changes is that every year or so, this formatted text needs to be put into a new template, e.g., different underlying font face, different format of headings, etc. But when one copies the text from the old template to the new one, Publisher creates a new branch of all styles, creating new Base 1, Heading 1, Body 1, etc. I would expect that an incoming document with exactly same style names (one to one mapping) would adopt the look of the new template. That's how other competing software works. But that's not the case with Publisher and I see no way of finding a workaround. Is this the desired behaviour of Publisher or is this a bug? I sincerely hope that this is a bug because otherwise I don't think Publisher is suitable for this kind of work. Please see my recording that illustrates the problem. styles.mov
  9. Strange, are you sure you are doing it correctly? I've just tried it again on my computer and the text pasted without Format was pasted without format.
  10. Hello @Poziomka, That depends. It's common to have notes just below the table. But no matter, Affinity notes can be positioned anywhere you like. Please see the following tutorial:
  11. Other users may find it useful though. Rather than killing it I would advise you to post your suggested improvements to the beta forum so the team can evaluate your suggestions. That way you get improved export preview and we all will benefit from your suggestions.
  12. If my memory serves me well (which most probably does not) rasterising was always trimming.
  13. Hi @HarryMcGovern, did you try Edit->Defaults->Synchronise from Selection (once you've changed the text box to look what you want). or Edit->Defaults->Factory Reset?
  14. Hello @WesPx, Welcome to the forum. You have created an artboard. In order to change the artboard dimensions enable the Transform panel and you can input your new dimensions there (using the width and height fields). If you created a page in the New Document panel (untick create the artboard) then you would be able to change the page dimensions from within the Document Setup panel as shown in your picture above.
  15. This is a perfect example of how scripting can be employed to automate very particular use-cases within Affinity products.
  16. Please don't do that. This is what annoys me most when working with Adobe products. I love the quick reaction when clicking on the fly-out menu in Affinity. 🙂
  17. You are right. I didn't test my solution well enough. I think this is a bug. We should be able to change the margins of all selected artboards in one fell swoop.
  18. Strange. It works for me in Designer Beta 2.1. What's important (maybe) is to deselect all artboards before changing the margins. magins.mov
  19. Do you have access to Affinity Publisher? If so, you can open your Designer document in Publisher and change your margins there. The margin changes would apply to all your arbours. EDIT: Actually, you can to the same thing in Designer. File -> Document Setup -> Margins
  20. Hello Jill, This could be a long shot but I've noticed that you have a few files created by Adobe Illustrator (extensions .ai) and linked in Publisher. Can you try to resave those files in Affinity Designer and relink them in Publisher and see whether that helps? Best of luck.
  21. Did you try to do that already? If you hold down the control key while launching publisher and then hit the clear button does that improve the situation?
  22. Yes. Definitely. Maybe add it as another option when you option click the asset?
  23. This post is not strictly about the Asset Panel Reordering but related to the Assets Panel. What I find unintuitive (I know very subjective) is the fact that if I double-click any asset in the panel I don't get any visual feedback that the pointer tool changed into a loaded pointer. That feedback is only visible when you move the mouse outside of the assets panel. So one would keep double-clicking assets thinking that nothing is happening. Secondly, I would expect (very subjective but present in other applications) that if I double-click an asset in the panel that asset would be immediately placed in the middle of the open document. Edit: Also, it would be very helpful to have visual feedback in the form of an outline over each asset you mouse over.
  24. Hello @Peter Williams, Try to adapt the following technique to Affinity Photo and your picture. This should give you much better results.
