Right Click on the image and select Rasterise and trim.
As far as I am aware, the selection tool cannot select outside of the canvas boundaries.

Unfortunately there's no option for this in Affinity currently, you would need to open each 'tab' and use Export individually - our apologies!

just to keep this post fresh, I also support this dimensioning tools to come to Affinity, especially Designer. I use Coreldraw for 7 years, and IMO this tool doesn't have to be very detailed as much as Corel.
They have "horizontal or vertical Dimension" because "parallel dimension" doesn't work if the mouse is too far away, not necessary. It also has node constraints so if you pull a node the dimension will follow the node, but from experience I turned this off because remarks from customer can make you forget/make mistake. Affinity already have other features like arrow tips and like profiling and the UI is already way better than Corel ( they added variable curve thickness, to somewhere, just this year). And they published the measuring tools. I mean Affinity is "this" close to what we want, and it does not has to be as complex as Corel.
Callout (or leaders) are also mandatory. the workaround is simply use the "dimension" in the Styles panel/studio, then add text to where you want.
Angular Dimension is good to have. My manufacturers doesn't need them anyways but if you sketching furniture it is mandatory.
In short, except the Angular dimensioning, you'll see the only automation/code we need is put a text that has the info of the curve length to the middle of the curve, or to the tip of the curve for callouts.
why Dimensioning especially necessary for a vector design program? I am doing perfume&packaging designs internationally and technical drawing programs like autocad or rhinoceros doesn't have the appeal to show your beauty of your design to the customer, where rendering is too slow and expensive at first steps of design communication. Corel knows this and they are gaining profit because of this.

arifg got a reaction from walt.farrell in possible bug: Alignment Shortcuts for selection behaviour are fixed
thanks for suggestion but this is about alignment shortcuts. Just try this:
go to settings> shortcuts>layer. assign "align centers" to any button. I prefered "Alt + C" prepare aligning 2 objects by using alignment panel first with align to any option but not "selection bounds". I prefered "last selected". now use the shortcut you assigned. You have to see that this shortcut will always use "selection bounds" instead of your preference. why this is a problem? it makes the shortcut less useful, like a table wihout a leg. and for my workflow I always use "last selected" option.
btw this problem doesn't apply for aligning only one object, it is working as it should.

But the question is, what was the reason for choosing the node? Did you choose this node because it is the "second" node from the beginning of the curve, or because it is the node at the xy "position" with a specific curvature of the curve? Personally, I don't really care about the order of the node from the start of the curve, and I select the node because of its position and shape of the curve (so I can move it, or adjust the shape of the curve), so I would expect the node to remain selected even after change the direction of the curve.

arifg reacted to thomaso in Learning the workflow of Affinity products
It varies with the project and its required + your desired layout tasks. Affinity doesn't want any specific use but is rather quite flexible with your preferred workflows, tools and order of tasks. For instance, to your previous question, you can paint with a pixel brush on top or underneath a vector layer and you can change the layer hierarchy later. Or you have the option turn vector into pixel at any time – but never vice versa within Affinity.
So, certain ways often have certain consequences you should consider while working, ideally when planning the process. For instance the difference between paragraph and character text styles or between leading and leading override or the difference between the 1 outer and the 4 corner bounding box handles, especially when scaling frame text text frames. Also you should be aware about the differences between vector & pixel and their consequences for workflow and output options.
What you need to consider depends both on your skills and your individual habits – some users want to achieve an efficient, fast workflow and don't mind complexity while others prefer it simple even if it requires more steps or objects to create and adjust.
Since you mentioned "Knife Mold(s)" in particular: Especially for cutting curves a switch in APub to ADesigner's "ContourTool" is helpful to achieve an even distance of the contour for objects other than simple squares, for instance:

    Hi @arifg,
Good catch, I've replicated and logged this issue with the developers.
As a workaround, unticking 'Apply to all' appears to retain any custom shortcut assignments in the blend mode category.

arifg reacted to Ash in OpenColourIO (OCIO) v2 Support
    Apps: Affinity Photo
    Platforms: All

We have now added support for OCIO v2 so config files including the more advanced features available in OCIO v2 can now be used.
We understand this is a rather specialist feature required by various VFX, film and 3D artists using Affinity Photo within their workflow - and we are reaching out to some of those customers to help test this for us. However, it would be useful if you could confirm for us that support for OCIO v2 is working on your set up.
To do this you can use this example config file which is in OCIO v2 format. Download the file and then select it from within preferences, under the colour section as highlighted below. After loading the .ocio file you will need to restart the app.

After that you can do two things to show it working:
    32-bit panel
    1. Load an image and convert to RGB/32 (HDR) colour space (from document menu -> Convert Format / ICC Profile...)
    2. Bring up the 32-bit panel from the windows menu
    3. Turn OCIO display transform on.
    4. Alter the source and destination formats from the drop downs and confirm it is having an impact on the display output.

    OCIO adjustment layer
On the same image if you wish, add an OCIO adjustment layer and again change the source and destination formats, again to confirm this indeed changes the appearance of the image.

We are confident that as long as it's having an effect in both cases then OCIO v2 support is working as intended.
    Thanks,
    Ash

I will have to disagree. Respectfully, of course.
That idea requires a lot more mouse movement, and the eyes need to look significantly further from the design to see all the options. And reading them is harder.

It would be really awesome to implement cryptomatte support in near future. Something like this: automatic generation of selection mask layers based on cryptomatte data in OpenEXR files as well as filtering of cryptomatte data layers when opening files.

Just another strong encouragement for adding dimensioning tools and setting the document scale, including with feet-inches units (OK I won't get greedy). This really would open Affinity Designer up to a whole new audience. One that is a little starved for a good solution right now.

This is about the only thing that still prevents me from ditching Corel Draw in favor of Affinity Designer.
The ability to add configurable snapped dimension lines ( that auto-dimension as needed) is essential to my use case...

arifg reacted to NathanC in move your settings to new version
    Hi @arifg,
The App Preferences and Shortcuts are not included as a part of the content migration process, if you wanted to use the same preferences that you used in V1 you would need to manually replicate the preferences used in V1 and then set the same preferences in V2.
As for shortcuts, you can export your V1 shortcuts to an .afshort file (Via Preferences > Shortcuts > Save) which can be imported into V2 file in the shortcut preferences by pressing 'Load' and then loading the V1 file, however due to some of the menus being changed between versions and new features being added you may find some shortcuts are missing.

I can confirm that this isn’t working the way I would expect.
After adding five differently-coloured rectangles I selected one, then used Ctrl+H to hide all but the selected rectangle.
I then used Ctrl+Shift+Alt+H and nothing happened; the canvas didn’t change and the four hidden layers in the Layers Panel remained hidden.
I then used Ctrl+Shift+H and, in the Layers Panel, all of the layers are now not hidden but only two of the hidden rectangles reappeared on the canvas. I had to zoom in a bit to get the other rectangles to also appear.
I tried similar things with the menu versions of the shortcuts (where available) and got the same results.
    See attached video – Ctrl+H, then Ctrl+Shift+Alt+H, then Ctrl+Shift+H.

This is a known re-draw issue affecting the layers below in the stack, zooming in/out will correctly draw the objects in again.
This is something that has been previously logged with the developers.

One of the only reasons I have not gone completely to Affinity and keep an old copy of Illustrator CS6 is because of the image trace function. Converting of bitmap/raster images to vector artwork is a mainstay for logo designers. Having to manually do this in Designer is a real drag.
