Many thanks to all of you for your input. Was a decision made to switch off the curve adjustment that was on by default in the previous versions? I had to give up on Exposure X6 a couple of years ago because they couldn’t give me control over their ‘always on’ application of a very clumsy tone curve which kept losing my hi light detail on low light shots. I am an early adopter of Affinity photo and designer and absolutely love the products. To be in on its development like this is very satisfying and enlightening. Support is unmatched. Keep up the good work.

Thanks for that, Hangman. Playing side by side AB comparisons this configuration may actually give a slightly better balance. Nice to know I can turn off the default NR. This has been useful. The current public version with settings as before, opened a perfectly balanced result. Can you describe what was changed that necessitated turning off exposure bias and applying a tone curve? Just interested

It appears to be connected with the original colours that fill the selection before the desired ones are set. So the Gradient tool always starts with a white to black, then I have to select the ends and pick the colours I need it to be. The white/black that first fills the area is what's making that border. On A, I started at the bottom left and dragged out to the right and on B, I did the opposite. Tried setting colours before doing any dragging or positioning and then had to bring the handles in from the corners of the document. This still left an edge with the colour that first filled the selection before I repositioned the handles. Hope that gives an insight to whatever is going on?! Test.afphoto

Hi, Can someone explain the way a contrasting border appears around a marqueed selection if there is any feathering set. I wanted the gradient to fade out and blend with the layers below but the wider the feathering, the wider the border. I've resorted to blurring a hard edged selection on its own layer but wondered if this is a bug or I'm just not doing it right? This with 6 pixel feather on freehand (polygon) selection

I have tried over and over to crash both the new 2.2 general release and beta 2005, doing everything I was doing last week but can't recreate. (whether Capture One running or not) I guess sometimes computers just fall over. Will definitely provide a 'dump' if it happens again. Thanks for taking the time.

Ok, yes C1 was running at the time all four crashes occurred. I know there were three beta updates in quick succession, I may not have installed 2005 by then but I thought I had! So it looks like it was simply APh just caused a read violation? I’ll try and recreate without C1 running. Thanks for looking into it. Hope you guys continue to flourish and get us to buy major updates at reasonable cost. Once you’ve got all of Adobe’s customers you’ll need to generate a bit of income. Keep it up 👍

Hi, Photo beta as above crashed three times while doing pretty basic cutting and pasting. However when I found Capture One was still running I closed it down and so far, not crashing again. Maybe just try some things while running C1 as that program messes up Canon camera software if it's running too.
