Understood. That being said, what are those cases to watch out for? Are there specific ways in which to save the photoshop psd files that would help retain the integrity of the smart objects so that it's not a case of russian roulette as to when it would and would not work?

Hi NathanC. Thanks for the feedback. With regards to the flattening/rasterization of smart objects layers upon import and export, I did follow the instructions "Preferences > General and enable 'Import PSD smart objects where possible'", but it still opens flattened on my end. See the attached. I did restart the program after making the selection in the preferences panel but as I've opened any PSD file, it's still doing the same thing and making the smart object layers flat and un editable.

I'm having issues exporting psd files that maintain their ability to have their text editable. Also when I've been given a psd from photoshop, the vector smart object comes through flat. How can this all be resolved?
