Downloaded to Win 10 Laptop. Quick and straightforward installation. Opens cleanly and, being familiar with Microsoft Publisher and InDesign, intuitive and straightforward to get up and running quickly. First real positive is the ability to import / place pdf's. Best wishes with what appears to be another excellent product. Thank you all for giving us this new choice of software. My best wishes for your success.

    Progress 4
I've been doing bits all over, I've still not finished the headlights but will do eventually.  Unless I'm missing something if you want them to look realistic however you do them it's a long winded job. Fortunately in this instance you can do one and just modify it a bit for the other side.
Did a bit more of the interior, but plenty missing and nothing is finished. I also just started blocking in the wipers.
I added a few temporary bonnet reflections to see how it's going to look and it's starting to look like a car, not sure what car but a car. Some of the shut lines are so large on a Mk1 Golf that you can see bits in there so in quite a few places a simple shut line won't do, so I've started adding details.
After all those things are done then there's still a chunk of little touches to add.
I'm thinking about trying the background without blurs too. Not sure it will look any good and it's lots of work but it's no fun if it's too easy or even works every time.

This is going to be another Mk1 Golf GTI but from the front this time and a standard series 2 in Mars Red, unless I change my mind. The car is going to be what I think of as straight vector so no blurs just gradients and blend modes, but it’s still going to be fairly realistic. Also as with the first Golf the background might use blurs but perhaps not, we'll see.
This time I thought I’d post a few progress shots together with some notes. I’m not sure how long it's going to take.
Anyway stage 1 was blocking in areas either flat or with gradients (some of which are only temp. ones). The body gradient is a best guess/averaging, you can’t always see an obvious gradient but you can see if it’s generally lighter or darker. As last time the body colour uses a single global swatch, so all the highlights and shadows are done with blend modes (somewhere between white and black, not reds, obviously). So if I want to change the body colour it's easy peasy.

    Hi Everyone,

I'm not normally one to post in this section, mainly as the shots i take are just of painted walls (legal graffiti) so very little editing is done but thought i'd mix things up with some Affinity Photo stuff in this section.

I made the most of the bank holiday weekend and went out and about early morning.  Also tested out a new NDX filter, only knowing the basics of what they do, i was clicking, then moving a stop and clicking again.  This ended up with a lot of very DARK images.  Anyway i was able to still make use of them and have attached the results in  JPG for the forum and also the original RAW file.  Love how the mist has been captured in the background which is what i was hoping for, need to work on skies next as i always seem to blow them out.  Feel free to use the RAW image and have a play.  I'm sure the more experienced photographers will spot any mistakes i've made, but i'm just getting to know my camera better and shooting on manual as much as possible  any tips are welcome.  I have a Nikon d3200 with kit lens (18-55mm).

I made this piece as a part of a presentation that I had to make recently to a potential client.

It is based on a woodblock print by Kuniyoshi and the original name of the print is Princess Takiyasha summons a skeleton spectre to frighten Mitsukuni. I've never seen an original print of this that was in good shape and I thought it was a shame because it is a very nice print so I decided to make my own version (with a few changes here and there). I hope you enjoy.

    Installation of Software and Updates
If you’ve purchased from the Affinity Store— each time you start the software it will check for updates and offer to download and install any available update. For the macOS release, in the application main menu there is an option "Check for Updates". Alternatively, you can download the latest installer by logging into the affinity store here and find the order in your account and use the "download" button in there. Updates are installed automatically (or manually by installing the new version over the old) Previous builds do not need uninstalling first. New installations of paid software downloaded from the Affinity Store requires a product key and email pair to use.
Software downloaded from the Mac App Store, Microsoft Store and iPad store do not require a product key and are updated through the relevant store:
If you’ve purchased from the Mac App Store— updates are done automatically next time you run your software after it is available in the Mac App Store. However, you do need to be logged in with the same Apple ID you used to buy them. If this does not happen for you, open the Mac App Store app and go to the Updates page and then Store > Reload page or press CMD+R. This should hopefully force the update to show. Apple sometimes phase roll outs around the world which can mean it may take up to 72 hours for your update to be available.
If you’ve purchased from the Microsoft Store— Microsoft Store updates are done automatically by the operating system (each time you start the application). If this does not happen for you, open the Windows Store app and click the three dots in the top right corner of the app and then go to Downloads and Updates. Click Get Updates. This should hopefully force the update to show.
If you’ve purchased from the Pad Store— Your Affinity iPad apps should update automatically next time you run them. However, you do need to be logged in with the same Apple ID you used to buy them. If the automatic update does not happen for you, go to the iPad Store app and go to Updates. Once you’re there, tap near the top of the screen where it states 'Updates' and then hold, pull down and then release. This should manually refresh the updates page. However, don’t contact us if the updates are not available for you yet—Apple sometimes phase roll outs around the world and this can take up to 24 hours.

This was my first major design using AD for the main design and AF for the mesh warp to achieve the roof panel curves. Although I used a photograph as a template, this was done intentionally as the object of the whole exercise was to learn the processes involved with these fantastic programmes.
Hope you do not take offence at my using a photograph as a template.

JFisher reacted to Ash in Affinity Photo for iPad wins App of the Year 2017!
    Hi All,

We're over the moon to announce that Apple have selected Affinity Photo for iPad as their App of the Year 2017!

We weren’t really sure this year could have got any better. From our big launch on stage at WWDC in June, to all the amazing reviews and feedback we’ve had from many of you – we’ve been totally blown away by the response our app has had. It's important to say that to create an app like this has only been possible with all your support. Not just help with the beta and development of the app itself, but in making Affinity such a success over the last few years to enable us to invest in the development of a big project like this.

If you haven't yet got the iPad version of Affinity Photo we are running a flash sale, just for the next 48 hours, to get it with a 50% discount. We can't imagine running such a big discount again for a very long time(!) so don't miss out on that. More info on our iPad page here.

Also we'd love you to help spread the word about this for us. It's been a while since we've done a competition like this, so if you:

Like our Facebook page and share or comment on this post
    or
Follow us on Twitter and retweet this tweet

You'll be entered into a free draw to win a 12.9" iPad Pro! The closing date is 12pm GMT on Saturday (when the flash sale ends), and we'll announce the winner on this thread.

But more than anything, thanks again for all your continued support.

Gran Turismo Sport now allow users to import SVG files for the in-game livery editor. The only thing is, the SVG file has to be below 15Kb in memory, which is pretty tiny.
It's a nice challenge though, to chop away as much unneeded information as possible, but to still get a good quality image. I created this vector file using Affinity Designer, which I then exported as the SVG file.
I then used the livery editor to give my bog standard go-kart a new design.

The Gran Turismo screenshots are in game. I'm just showing them to illustrate how the decal design looks on the go-kart!
