  1. Hi, Walt,

Thank you for your quick answer. Your hints took me in the right direction, and while I was tinkering with the sample .afpub file to send to you for review, everything fell in place. One key think is your suggestion that "if you specify a name, it is used to allow numbering to be related in different areas of the document" and the "Global" switch related to that.

    Thanks a lot again. Cheers.

    Antonio.

  2. Hi, everybody,

I seem not to be getting the hang of numbered lists in Publisher―maybe I'm stucked with the way InDesign or OpenOffice work with numbered lists.

In a book with many different numbered lists, including numbered headings and subheadings, the numbers started in one list seem to overflow to the following lists―including the heading numbering!―, as though there were only one list with different formattings in-between. For example (random fake text):

    <<<<<<<<<
    numbered list
    ...
    10. Liak kals iklek illon.
               (numbered list, Style name: "Gorber-List")
    11. Druk drop lockne.

Plelk rork nang kuks: ...             (Base paragraph style, no numbering).

    12. Rennek akdorle fob.            (New numbered list, Style name: "Rer-List". Should start with 1.)
    13. Nunne assey.
    14. Rerered akdorle feb.

                                                       Then a new chapter:)

    15. Asknord luksde             (Heading. This would be the third chapter and should be "3. Asknord luksde")
    >>>>>>>>

Depending on the "Restart" options selected (Only manual | Anywhere outside the list | Below present level ―rough translation, my installation is in Spanish―) in the "Bullets and numbering" section of the Paragraph style dialog box, I get either that or lists always starting with no. 1, regardless of the previous amount of items.

What is going on that I am missing?

How do you "manually start" a new list to reset the numbering?

    Thanks a million.
