Do you happen to also know how to get the equally spaced dots (as in a table of contents), without actually using the table of contents tool (only the dots, if necessary)?

Hi, I hava a problem. Whenever I make a list with numbers, I cannot get equal spacing between them and the text that follows. It will be bigger, or smaller, depending on the amount of text on the row. I have justified left on for the text. Is there a quick fix to get equal spacing between number and the text that folllows, on the same row?
