Actually it appears easier to use Data Merge, as you initially mentioned. – On mac: To get the images as data table it is sufficient to …
    1. copy the images in the Finder + paste into a plain text file (txt, not rtf),
    2. add a first line for APubs Fields Panel (e.g. "my images"),
    3. save this text file in the folder of the images,
    4. rename its suffix from .txt to .csv.
This single data column can be used in APub for both: to get the images placed AND to get the file names added. Also creating the layout via the Data Merge Tool can be simpler than multiple power-duplicated & arranged copies of picture frames.

The problem is that Photo works with one document at a time, so your contact sheet would always have a single image on it.
Generating a contact sheet that spans multiple photos goes against the nature of the program.
I still think it would be a better fit for the DAM solution than for the existing software.

If any of the current Affinity products should get this feature it should be Publisher, though in a modified form - I could see being able to select a bunch of objects (photos or whatever) on a page and use an "Arrange as a Grid" command or similar, and possibly an option to display a source filename below or over top of each placed image.  If the grid arrangement specified too few columns/rows to hold the selected images, they could spill onto the next page...

That's fantastic, you must be very proud of your daughter and what an amazing cause... I wish her every success... You are very welcome, @anto did all the heavy lifting, I just threw in a little bit but I hope the project turns out to be extremely rewarding for all involved... 😄

    Hi @adrianlambert,
I've attached an updated version of your Publisher file using an adjusted CSV as per @anto's video so you can do the Data Merge for yourself to see how it works...

The fields are located one after the other. Where there is no data, it leaves the field empty, and where there is data, it fills it in.

    Hi @adrianlambert,
Change the Layer order within your Group so the Month appears below your Data Merge Layer... I had to update the CSV file in the Data Merge panel but I think that's only because it didn't automatically link the file when I opened your Publisher document so you may not need to do that...

It works for me too on Windows.
But I would organize the calendar a little differently. I would make the numbers that do not apply to the current month gray.
There's no need for line breaks. Use top, middle, and bottom alignment.
Put frame on frame, specify a different column in Libreoffice, and you can make your calendar in different colors.

    Hi everyone,

The reception to Affinity Photo for iPad has quite rightly been phenomenal. It is, at last, a sign that the the iPad is getting the pro software that the hardware is capable of running.

The features I would most like to see going forward are a floating modifier key panel (like AstroPad has), and external keyboard support.

Modifier keys would allow for more accurate and efficient use of the clone tool (alt click to sample, click to clone) when manually cloning tricky areas that the automated methods cannot deal with.
They would also allow better access to manipulating the handles of vector paths rather than constantly switching between the Pen and Node tools (on that subject, we need the ability to manipulate the two handles independently which I think is vital for accurate paths).
A little spacebar key would let the user pan around the image without lifting the Apple Pencil off the screen... I could go on and on.
Basically they would allow one tool to have multiple states without needing to switch tools or lose the accuracy of the Pencil by requiring a clumsy finger gesture.

External keyboard support would be fantastic for quickly switching between tools, deselecting, re-selecting, quick access to the Fade command etc.
Increased efficiency for power users basically.

In summary, I'd love to be able to complete those finickity and tedious retouching tasks that we all have to do as quickly and painlessly as possible.

Thank you again for a really astonishing piece of software. I can't wait to see how it develops.
