Are you using the latest release version? Yes Can you reproduce it? 100% reproducible Does it happen for a new document? If not can you upload a document that shows the problem? This is not a document specific problem. If you cannot provide a sample document then please give an accurate description of the problem for example it should include most of the following:    What is your operating system and version (Windows 11, OSX Ventura, iOS 16 etc)? iPadOS 16.1
   Is hardware acceleration (in Preferences > Performance) ON or OFF ? (and have you tried the other setting?) this is an iPad
   What happened for you (and what you expected to happen) When adding a new swatch to a palette things go haywire and the palette viewer switches to some random display of swatches that seems like its added every color in the document.
The palette I have selected should be updated to include just the one color I’m adding.
   Provide a recipe for creating the problem (step-by-step what you did). Create a new palette, add current background color; bug exhibits.
   Screenshots (very handy) or a screen capture/video.    Any unusual hardware (like tablets or external monitors or drives that may affect things) or relevant other applications like font managers or display managers.    Did this same thing used to work and if so have you changed anything recently? (software or hardware) This is a brand new version of the app afaik.
 
Additionally, swatches are really only useful if the following things are also possible:
1. Being able to anchor the palette to the viewport so it’s always available for changing colors.
2. I need to be able to reorder the swatches in an existing palette; this is either not working or is not possible and it stinks.

I know all that Walt. But they are not very well explained in Help.
What is the purpose of Group Styles? Where and why I should use them?

You could post an improvement request in the Feedback section of the forum, or agree with an existing one.

This is not a bug, @BBG3, but the way the Affinity applications are designed to work. The formatting characteristics of the first character apply to the bullet/number, too.
To avoid that, note that in the Bullets and Numbering settings (Paragraph panel, or Paragraph Text Style) there is a field for a Character Text Style that will be applied to the Bullet/Number. So:
Define a Character Text Style for the Bullet/Number that you want to use. Specify that Character Teat Style in the Bullets and Numbering section of the Paragraph panel or the Paragraph Text Style you're using for the text. Then format the first character of the text as you want it. (I'm away from the computer, and can't provide a screenshot at the moment. adding the option 

I need to create two columns of text, but not sure how to create them.

I would like to have only one text frame and inside it:
A part with text with only one column A part with text with two ore more columns Is it possible?

I have 64 global colors that need to rename.  and it is difficult to rename them. for each color I have to click 4 to 5 times.
I think it would be great if i can rename them by clicking on the name(text) of each color in swatches. like renaming the layers.
Having a rename tool is very handy for Swatches and Layers. 
 

I was not speaking of the vector effects feature, this is a replication tool. The attached image shows what the command does. 
There are two Transforms applied to the element on the art board in the image.
It allows the creation of a single element on an art board, the business card example in the top left.
The first transform instantiated 4 copies below the original. The second transform instantiates a copy of the left column. 
This allows the element to be created once and results in 10 elements on the page. A change to the parent element is propagated to all of the transformed child elements.

Yes, this would be a very very helpful addition to AD. The workflow that I've encountered is this:
- I have a complex design with many symbols in it. For example, many instances of a star.
- I want to introduce some variety, so I select 1/3 of the instances, and want to replace those with a different star., or a moon, or whatever.
Similarly, I might have used Copy/Paste or Duplicate on a Group, and only later realize that I want these to be instances of a symbol. If I could select those Groups and then replace them with a symbol, preserving their placement & scale, that would then allow me to edit them all together.
Without the ability to replace these, I need to manually drag a new Symbol instance out and transform it to match for *each* of the items I want to replace, which can take hours to do :(

I was just wondering if there's a way to replace multiple Symbol instances with a different Symbol? I can't find a way to do this, to basically swap out a selection of Symbol instances.
Obviously I know that you can detach and recreate a Symbol, thus effectively duplicating it and then replacing the content of that Symbol - but this doesn't quite provide the same control as being able to swap multiple existing symbol instances with a different Symbol. An example of this would be swapping a number of icons (existing symbols) in a UI with a different icon, maintaining proportion and position on the Artboard - rather than dragging, resizing and repositioning a different icon from the Symbols panel.
I'm not sure if this feature has already been requested, or if it's been, or being, considered.

I have been using Illustrator for a few years to design boardgames, I discovered Designer a month ago and I have tested it designing a boardgame.
Replacing symbols is very useful when making counters and cards. It is probably the main tool I miss from Illustrator.

Layer via copy is Ctrl + J (this also duplicates the whole layer(s) if you don't have a partial selection)
 
Unfortunately, I have also been unable to find a "Layer via Cut" command. The fastest workaround seems to be Ctrl + X (cut) followed by Ctrl + V (paste). It should paste the cut part into a new layer by default. Not a big workaround, but I still wish there was just one solid command for this to match Ctrl + J (maybe it could be Ctrl + Shift + J), but oh well.

According to your screenshot, I assume you mean column guides rather than just guides
If so, and you also have APhoto you can create a macro to add the column guides, then replay that as and when required on your Artboards

I can confirm I've been able to replicate this issue with your file and I will be logging it with our developers now.
I have also been able to recreate this in a new document (steps below), which should help our devs to resolve this issue.
Create new non-artboard document View > Guides > apply column guides Artboard Tool > Insert Artboard
(!) Note the Column Guides disappear, but will now show when creating a marquee selection Draw a new artboard next to the second one
(!) Now when marquee selecting, these 'ghost' guides encompass both the first and second artboard area I hope this helps

This has apparently been an issue for many years, Adobe's assumption is that if you are copying text from Illustrator that you intend to paste it in Illustrator (not in anyway short sighted)...
There are numerous posts online about workarounds all of which are ridiculous for something so basic...
Out of interest, have you tried physically selecting the text using the text tool (so the text is highlighted), copying it and then in Designer using the Paste Without Format option or in Text Edit the Paste and Match Style option.
I don't know if that will make any difference but give that a go if you've not already tried that...

Hey there. New Affinity designer user here and while working today I was trying to split a rectangle shape into equal parts. It's fairly easy to do that in illustrator by simply clicking on the shape and then going to Object > Path > Split Into Grid. Is there something like that in Affinity Designer?

does Affinity Designer provide a Polar Grid Tool like AI? I’d like to create Polar coordinates. (see attached image). Currently the only workaround is to creating multiple circle and split and merge them.

Well it is coming from Adobe Illustrator and who knows what has been done to, or with, the text in that application. Could be that Illustrator is copying according to some strange internal rule. Adobe doesn't play well with others.
Another thing to consider is whether or not @BBG3 has any sort of clipboard utility or other third party utilities installed.

This is not correct. Affinity provides smart object support that does not work properly. For this reason, professional work with Affinity Designer is not possible. If you offer a feature, it should work. Otherwise, this is just a marketing stunt to attract customers who want to switch from Adobe to a cheap alternative.

I have the same problem with all the smart objects in mockups (psd files). In addition appears all the smart objects like broken:

 
I'm new user with Affinity (I didn't use 1.8 or previous version) so, I'm not sure if that is normal or what... As Designer1 says, working with that a properly work is not possible.
How is it possible fix it?
 

If a Warp effect has been applied in the Mockup it will be ignored and the texture in the smart object will show as flat. 
The left can is a screenshot from Photoshop, the right opened in Affinity Photo, there is also a problem with the light and shadow effects connected to the smart object (Embedded Document)
We need a live warp effect and we should be able to make Affinity Photo Mockups and do away with PSD Mockups.
 

 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
The Light and shadow effects are being offset to the right, hence the line down the middle of the can, I think this is tied in with the warp effect but could be re-aligned as a workaround in Affinity Photo.
