As a user experience designer, I'm going to point out a valuable thing to our developers.
Have you guys counted how many actions should a user take to finish a simple task, regarding this matter?
Well, 7 actions. The actions can be reduced to 3 or 2. like Adobe Illustrator and Figma.

    The align object
key object distribute spacing cannot work!
Perhaps the key objects can be attribute spaced according to the input value.
But can they feature be improved?

Are there any plans of adding a two-dimensional alignment option? Akin to the "Tidy Up" option present in Figma.
I understand the objectives of those programs are a bit outside of the central scope of Affinity, but additions like that seem like the next logical step. Thank you!

BBG3 reacted to Hangman in Affinity Publisher 2.3 | Editing Master Pages | Not Responding
    Hi @BBG3,
I'm not completely sure whether I've structured the pages correctly as I've included six additional pages at the start of January, i.e. from December 26th. If that isn't the intention then you can just delete Pages 2 to 7...
I was unsure whether the White-Background 2.png file is a paper texture or just a plain grey background as it is a Linked file so I didn't have access to it but I've replaced it with a grey rectangle of the same colour. You can obviously just replace this with your PNG file if it is actually a paper texture.
As you know there is a bug relating to pinned objects on Master pages so rather than repeat multiple instances of the calendar on each page, I've created one master page per month and unpinned the calendar from the text frame so you can simply apply the relevant master to the relevant set of pages which I've done in the attached file.
I've also simplified the dots by using on-page dots rather than symbols which should mean the file is far less complex and if the intention is to have more, fewer or different colour dots on certain pages then you can now just adjust them on the relevant master page and you hopefully won't experience the same issue when editing, deleting or duplicating elements.
This may not be quite what you had in mind structurally but hopefully, it gives you a file you can tweak or adjust to your needs and one that is more manageable to work with.
Let us know if this helps, if you have any questions or if anything isn't working as expected...

For me, I needed to Show Rulers, right-click at the top-left Ruler intersection, choose Inches from there, then go into Document Setup, change dpi. Then units can be changed again--dpi, measurement units.
It's a very stupid, maybe even convoluted, process.

BBG3 reacted to Old Bruce in Affinity Publisher | Importing IDML file | Dimension problems
Worked for me. I changed the Units of Measurement to Inches then changed the DPI in the Document Setup (File > Document Setup) to 72 DPI from the 300 DPI and I wound up with an 812 x 550 Pixel sized document.

    Hi @BBG3,
Many thanks for your sample file...
I believe there is a known bug (though I'm struggling to find the bug reference at the moment) relating to pinned objects in tables on Master Pages not transferring to publication pages which is what's happening here.
It appears to be related to but perhaps the opposite of AF-1144, though this doesn't specifically relate to tables it sounds like a very similar issue.
The workaround is to unpin the pinned objects on the Master Page and then perhaps group them with the table if there is any requirement to move them on the publication page and reapply the Master to the respective pages.

BBG3 reacted to Paul Batty in Affinity 2.... Distribute Open Documents using Tile-Arrange
I suggested a feature for Affinity 1 Photo, a number of years ago, nothing ever came of that suggestion. Therefore I would like to submit the suggestion again to the development plan of Affinity 2 software. It is feature which may also be useful for Publisher and Designer.
Many photographers need to see quick side by side comparisons, or to to be able to see multiple donor images which can aid in the production of composite images. It definitely improved the speed of production in my own professional work flow.
I am talking about the arrange document window feature which is found in many other pieces of software on the planet, even MS Excel has it!
How come the Affinity suite does not even have the most basic 'Tile' option?
To be able to take open documents and have them neatly arrange themselves in the workspace in a fraction of second is a great aid, rather than the awful 'Float View to Window' option, which I have used, but find a real pain when compared to what the competition offers!
Other Affinity users in the forum said they would welcome such a useful feature. I attach an image which shows a possible implementation, in my mind it would improve the Affinity software for the many end users who support your efforts.
Please can you make a start and just add the basic 'Tile feature. Its not much to ask, is it? But if you can add the other bits that would be even better. Thanks.

I am not the only one who is requesting this simple basic function, requested it for V1 and in V2.

Every update I am disappointed that this request is not implemented. I am sure that making this request available in Affinity software would make many more jump from CC.

Having an outline option when we want to open a PDF file is very useful, especially when we don't have the fonts. Sometimes, people forget to outline their fonts before sending their files! It seems only Adobe Acrobat has an outline option.
    Here is an example.

Just +1 this. I would love to have the ability to show/hide artboard titles.
I work with a lot of nested artboards for large format printing. I need different artboards for different substrates, e.g. vinyl or foam core, and being able to layer artboards saves me from creating a lot of mock up layers. The big draw back is the artboard names that interrupt the view.

BBG3 reacted to yulandadm in Suggested feature - Preflight check for global colors
It would be a big help if Publisher would check for non-global colors in a document. You could have an option to exclude Black and white colors but if someone is added global colors, chances are, they are adding them to the majority of the document. When you have a document that is say 500 pages and you have to check all 500 pages for a navy so dark that it's almost black, but not, is a tad bit cumbersome. Having preflight tag those fonts and objects that are not global colors would be awesome.

    Nice additional tool.
To bad it only has context toolbar options and none on canvas like other quick shapes.
The presence of nodes suggests as such but it would only draw a new spiral.

    Maybe have something like this:

    557 / 5.000 Hi there,

when I have created a document in Affinity Designer and save it on the desktop, can I display the document by pressing the spacebar in the finder. A small preview is displayed in the Finder. Is there a way to display the preview window to zoom in to view the Affinity Designer document? Unfortunately, the preview is very small and very blurry. Is it possible to change this? Thanks very much. Best wishes Mark

BBG3 reacted to boorowaboy in The font changes sizes when it flows to the next text box. Why
Hi again for anyone who is able to advise me why the following happens. I have been adding captions to photographs in a book and I thought I had used the correct method of selecting the link icon and drawing a text box. The link worked however any text which flowed into the linked box became tiny as if it was 'superior' or superscript. In the character and font settings it was all 10/15 pt Milo Regular. When I pulled the text back as in fig. 1 it returned to the correct size. To resolve the issue I created two separate text boxes on linked them. This worked for two boxes however when I linked the third box the same reduction in size happened again.
Please tell me what is going on.
    Thanks for any help.

BBG3 reacted to VectorCat in Keep brush size when changing? **iPad Version!**
Is there a way to have brushes “remember” the size they were last set to? I’m working with a pencil and an eraser right now. I need each to be a certain size and one is larger the other. When I adjust the eraser to be a certain size, I find that the pencil is that size, too. If I adjust the pencil to a smaller size, the eraser takes that size, too.
The Brush tool and the Eraser tool are two different tools with different jobs. It seems that they would be able to remember the size they were set to. I see nothing in the preferences that enables a feature like this.
    thank you!

These are snapping indicators. You can get rid of them by selecting Snapping from the Document menu (top left, document icon with ellipsis inside) and disabling Show snapping candidates.
