Yes. No. We are all waiting for proper linked-aware-of-changes files.

jospo got a reaction from chrisWhite in Variables in Export Persona
Hello, I have one small feature request :-)

It would be great to treat user variables in Export Persona - Slices as "globals".

To explain further, here is my workflow:
I am creating multiple banners with different sizes for multiple products (there are a lot of banner sizes I need to create). For each banner size I create new Artboard. Then I define export file name for each slice based on variables: [slice Name][Width]x[Height]. This works great, but I would like to somehow insert the product name into the file name.

This can be done in two ways:
    1) Renaming all Artboards and insert the product name there. When I work on other product I need to again rename all Artboards
    2) Creating user variable with product name and use it when defining file name: [slice Name][Width]x[Height][Product Name]

For the second option however I need to create user variable for each slice so it's a lot of work. Now if the [Product Name] would be global variable, I can just change it once and use it in all slices.

I hope the description is not so confusing :-)

    Thanks!
    Petr

jospo got a reaction from Krustysimplex in Keep Bleeds when Rasterise Image Overlapping Artboard
Hello, just a suggestion for improvement.
When I place an image to document with bleeds so it is overlapping artboard and then rasterise the image, it is cropped to the edges of the artboard. It would be better to rather crop the image to the edges of bleeds not to the artboard. It makes problems when exporting PDF with bleeds and the image is therefore cropped incorrectly.
    Thank you!

jospo got a reaction from IvanDoganov in Text overflow indication for linked text frames
    Hello,
just a suggestion – it would be great to somehow indicate that the text overflows the text frame especially when the "eye" icon is enabled to hide the overflowing text. For example make the "eye" icon red when there is more text that is hidden.
This can be useful as I don't need to double check if all lines fit into text frames.
    Thanks!

jospo got a reaction from Stephen_H in Crop marks overlapping with bleed area
    Hello,

is it possible to render crop marks in Affinity Designer so they don't overlap with bleed area? My printer requires crop marks out of bleed area (sample image with red square). AD currently renders crop marks inside bleed area (sample image with gray square).

I am using AD 1.4.1 and exporting the PDF with Include crop marks option checked.

    Thanks!

jospo got a reaction from Geminitiger in Switching from PS – few issues/questions
Greetings! I am a long time PS user and recently I am trying to switch to AP for most of my workflow.

I am however still struggling with few issues so I was hoping to get some feedback here to make my work with AP easier :-)
Sorry in advance for such a long list, but I don't want to spam this forum with multiple posts.

    1) Is there any shortcut for Perspective tool? I am using it a lot (in PS it's Cmd+T and Cmd+click on corners). How to use Perspective tool non-destructively? So far the layer needs to be converted to pixels to use Perspective tool. I am looking for something like Smart Objects where you can easily transform dimensions without loosing any information.

    2) Converting text to curves when pressing Cmd+Enter is for me not a good option. I am sooo used to this shortcut from PS that I am almost always converting the text to curves instead of just finishing text editing (which is in AP done using the Esc key where in PS it cancels the editing – is there by the way any shortcut to cancel editing in AP?).

    3) Is there any tool similar to polygonal lasso tool from PS? I would like to make straight angled selections but not just rectangles.

    4) Cropping with rotation on small resolution images produces jagged lines in image. Is there any way how to get rid of this?I need to perform cropping in PS to get desirable results and then to switch back to AP.

    5) Is there any shortcut to reset colors to black and white? (in PS it's "D" key - it's useful when masking with brush tool)

    6) Is there any easier way to pick color than to switch to brush tool (B key) and hold Alt key while dragging? (in PS it's "I" key and click)

    7) How the Flood fill tool actually works on layers? So far I have found that to fill the object visible on layer I have to select the layer, then select Flood fill tool and select the color in swatches. When I select the color and click anywhere in the layer it does not do anything.

    8) Is there any way how to transform selection? I know you can grow/shrink selection (Cmd+B), but I am looking for more precise way.

    9) Thank you for reading this all up to this point ;-)
