Kia ora @Dan C, I just wanted to add to this to confirm that this issue still exists in Affinity Photo 2 (2.0.3).

Kia ora! I'm still having this issue in Affinity Photo 2 - with the exact behaviour - S - has described. Setting master black level to 1% enables the clipping view within individual channels.
