Serif has posted several topics about exe locations, aliases and workarounds. Also, they're working on a standard (MSI) installer for those who don't want to install as a store app. That was originally hoped to be available be Christmas, but is still being debugged. Last release target I read was after the first of the year. I don't have these posts' links handy but a search will turn them up pretty quickly.
I see. Time is money, and time isn't on their side.
The main reason I installed this first was because CTA recommends it despite me wanting the "AI coloring mode" that a different business offers. If CTA5 was able to launch Affinity, I would have bought this software today!

Hi,
I just found out issues surrounding Affinity software and being unable to be launched from other software because it is a Windows App instead of a normal executable app like all other applications.
I do not feel like doing extra work just to make it work, so I guess I'll find other software that will be compatible with CTA5 that doesn't require me having to do so much work-around stuff to make it compatible.
Thank you for the Trial. I have saved myself a ton of headache! I will be uninstalling this product and finding something else that won't require a workaround.
Best Regards,
Greg T

I have firefox 102 (haven't updated to latest yet)... so this issue must be with FireFox 102. At least I have made it known and a solution for others whom may follow.

Welcome to the Serif Affinity forums.
It is an MSIX file, and renaming it won't help. What exactly happens when you try to run the MSIX file? If you get an error message, please shuyt us the exact message.
Also, what Windows version are you running? The output from the winver command would be useful.
Hi,
when I double click on the file, it asks me how I want to open the file.

Hi,
I recently attempted to install Affinity Photo 2.0.3, but was unsuccessful. I tried changing the file extension to .msi, but received an error stating that it is an unknown software. As I prefer to only install software that has been certified by Microsoft, I am hesitant to continue with the installation.
Will this issue be resolved in the near future? If so, I would be interested in purchasing Affinity Photo if it is compatible with Cartoon Animator 5. However, if I am unable to install the software within the next 24 hours, I will have to consider other options.
Thank you for your assistance.
Best regards, Greg T.
SOLUTION:
Change the non-existing extension (which the software developer forgot to add) to .msix and it makes the file able to install.
So change affinity-photo-2.0.3 to affinity-photo-2.0.3.msix

(SOLVED) Downloaded Trial version for Windows 10 64-bit. Unable to install.

Ok.
It didn't have a extension, so microsoft windows didn't know how to run it.
Solution... change it to have the file extension. I guess nobody is really to blame because I don't know how it happened.
