Hello everyone,
I am new to Affinity Designer V2 and giving the trial a whirl because I refuse to pay Adobe's subscription fees. I have already read through the 2020 Cricut FAQ on this forum which helped with quite a few issues, however I can't find a solution for my current problem.
I'm designing a SVG with multiple layers for use in Cricut Design Space. When I upload my file it separates the Stroke and Fill components of each layer in Cricut Design Space. I can workaround this in Design Space but it's really frustrating and I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong. I've only made 2 of the 10 layers because I don't want to continue until I solve my problem.
Attached is my file and some screenshots of my issue; below is an outline of things I've tried:
- Layer fill mode is set to Winding (non-zero)
- Single curve objects on each layer made by Merge Curves function
- Document Setup to embed images rather than link them
- Export settings: Rasterize nothing, 72 DPI, Use hex colours, Add line breaks
Where am I going wrong? Is there a way to fix this? The version of Cricut Design Space I'm using is 7.23.160
Thanks in advance to anyone who can help!

SVG Uploads to Cricut Design Space with Stroke and Fill Separate

Thanks for your response @firstdefence, and sorry for the late reply. Yes, you're right Cricut doesn't technically need the stroke if it's just cutting out the shape. Most if not all of the custom svgs I've seen included a stroke of 1 pt in black on each shape so I couldn't understand where I went wrong.
Well I figured it out in case anyone has the same issue as me... and of course it was user error!
In Affinity Designer V2 I used a brush tool to create some of my shapes because it was easier, however this made my Stroke type a Textured Line Style. I changed this to the Solid Line Style instead and poof - my layers uploaded normally! No more separation of the Stroke and Fill for each shape. The learning curve is steep but it feels great when you get over it. Now I can happily design without spending so much time welding and attaching things in Design Space.
