  1. No. You are not discussing. You're making remarks. Either you don't understand what I'm writing, which is tedious, or you're trolling. Thanks for trying though.
  2. Art doesn't try to believe anything in the first place... Art is what we make of it. And often it's the biggest "art" to mask something as real. Your Stalin could've deleted Trotsky without generative AI. Photo manipulation is old. You know the analog process still exists? AI makes it faster. Makes tech available, without the need for something most of us wouldn't have any access to. Aside from the impossibilty to fund such a thing... Generative AI is something you don't understand apparently. The generative process is not more than a "one-trick-pony". Which seems to frighten a lot of people. Like anything new. As a reaction to something they are not capable to understand (yet). Here is a nice example: In short: generative AI doesn't do what isn't already possible! But it provides techniques at a very fast rate. For people at home. AI is speed and accessibility. Has nothing to do with your Stalin --> I'd also prefer to make this discussion NOT political. Thank you!
  3. "Recreates or fakes reality". You mean like a graphics artist/desginer XD? Generative AI is nothing without human creativity. It alone just creates the illusion of being creative and quickly slides into uncanny territory, if not used by someone who knows his craft. You still have to pour a lot of work into images altered with the help of AI. Those tools basically equal speed, because they can eliminate tedious workflows for example. You need to know when to use them where. And that makes the difference between an artist and a conservative --> the ability to adapt. It's basically "video kills the radio star" all over again.
  4. @fde101Generative AI is able to remove objects. Or helps with getting a certain format. For example when I bring an image into balance because the horizon was off, this tool "cuts" edges off, because there's no information. You could fill that areas with new tools. Doesn't change the world. It's a convenience. Why not. Can look uncanny, but in small doses it's nice. It wouldn't make me switch either, because I don't rely on it. But Serif is frustratingly slow when it comes to new and innovative things. I really would benefit from removing objects in my composition. The patch tool etc.. are "smart" tools. They're reactive. They're intelligent in an artificial way...;). This and selection tools I'd love to see in Photo dearly!! Cuts away tedious editing time... @smadellWasn't exactly the core of my post. I think we all here can agree on that, because we chose Affinity (not only) because of that. I mentioned this because I know someone who works professionally in the design area and switched back to Photoshop, because apparently it gives her a needed edge in her environment --> makes social media for a company where they want posts every day. It's an example that came to my mind. It just makes sense that more are going to follow. Not only because of work. "Hype" unfortunately is also strong and let's people forget common sense... Last weeks AI is old in comparison to next weeks. Progress and development are fast. Logically it makes sense if professionals want to stay relevant and others try new gadgets. Don't actually want to discuss business models. Rather the implementation of intelligent tools and what purpose they could (or couldn't) serve to make working with the Affinity products better and quicker.
  5. I totally agree! Many don't understand this. Editing is about speed and easy access which benefits an optimal workflow! You don't automatically sell your soul to the devil just because a software now has a new tool. And like someone mentioned: no one is forcing anyone. And new AI tools will NOT substitute art or handcrafted work. It might seem that way, but as soon as AI has it's own place established you will distinguish between AI art, and handcrafted art. Those are two different things, that can and will function together! The image generation business will soon loose it's glamour. And then the handiness of AI will show. It has generated a lot of interest. And that is connected with anxiety. "The fear of the new". Take a look at history: how often have things become the standard that were "demonized" by a lot of people. What do you think people thought about the first digital photo editing software? Analog operators were against it as you can imagine. Or the history of the PC. Or the internet. Do you want to edit your photos on platforms you cannot afford? Do you want to design/write your flyer/cookbook/etc.. by hand or use a typewriter? If you see a "problem", better make it your own, so you know about it. I wish Serif would take the opportunity to embrace and explore AI so we all can see and realistically estimate what it is. It will establish itself. Why wait until it's too late? The industry doesn't wait for you. I can understand that many do not like Adobe's "business model". But speed and possibility will haul them back. Photo and design worlds are extremely competitive. And AI adds a huge tempo. So why make a software, when you don't want to be competitive?
  6. I would love to see some new and efficient AI tools. Not a fan of just clicking and an image looks amazing, but the speed of editing things out or changing details, does open a lot of doors. It helps to get better compositions, where it's just not possible to arrange anything. And we edit nonetheless!! So why not do it much faster? I don't enjoy tedious work, but I do it, because I want a great image. Generative fill can work as such a tool. The patch-tool, that's already there, is based on AI. Why not have faster and "better" ones? Or a smart background marking tool, that enhances the speed of more complex "cut-outs". Or an auto-tracer in Designer ;)! Editing should be fast, so we have more time to be creative! And just use our loved Affinity suite, without learning other programs because of features.. I think implementing more AI stuff in general is good to determine what it actually is capable of and get to know it. It will be a part of the future, though it does evoke the output to appear uncanny when it generates. Handmade things, will always be "better", if you're really good at your craft and understand what you're doing. I want the combination of both!
  7. Whenever I place a file (from my camera) in Affinity 2 (in all three), it automatically cuts away from all sides. No matter what format I choose in Aff. Is there an autocrop enabled that I don't see? This happens only to my recently shot photos. I shot with a Canon 550D in RAW --> 5184x3456. This doesn't happen with shots from my phone. Other programs open the full image without problems. Is that a bug? Am I not seeing something in particular? Edit: I found that the "Lens correction" was the culprit. So now I would like to reformulate my question: Can I untick lens correction by default?
  8. Ah man sry, I indeed have Windows 10. Must've accidentally typed eleven instead of ten... I edited that in the OP. Update: So the crash ONLY occurs, when I change size/rotate the image inside of the letters, and THEN click somewhere in the background. If I leave it like it was --> no crash. If I click somewhere on the toolbar, etc.. --> no crash. Just the background/actual workspace (in and outside of the image).
  9. I worked on a project in photo V2. Took a break and updated to version 2.0.3. after. After the update the program crashes every time I do a certain thing: - artistic text tool --> enter text - gradient tool --> bitmap - choose a pic --> change/rotate to my liking - click somewhere --> CRASH ... 100% Every time. Happens in a new file with a different font, different pic, etc...also. I'm on the latest Win10. (edited typo from Win11) Hardware acc. doesn't do anything to that crash. I expect it not to crash... The only unusual hardware I have connected atm is an external soundcard. But I would not know how that should affect the gradient tool crash. In version 2.0.0. it worked like a charm without crashing!! The only thing that I changed from before and after my break was the update from V2.0.0 to V2.0.3 in all three apps (pub/des/pho). Hope to get a solution soon! Thx for reading!
