Hello designers, In this video i start from scratch using a pencil and pen, then take a photo of it and import it into affinity designer so we can make a vector version. You will learn how to trace an image with the pen tool and then create a background from all of the outlines and much much more.

There are genuinely no plans for us to remove the availability of our apps to purchase as a perpetual licence. I will say it is possible in the future there may be an optional way to have them via a Canva subscription plan (which could also include other integrations with Canva / cloud services which you would not get with the perpetual version). But it’s very early days and there isn't a firm plan on that.
I honestly think you'll all be pleased with the outcome of this. With the additional financial backing we have no pressure at all to release a V3 anytime soon, so can be 100% focused on ploughing all our efforts into free V2 updates for the foreseeable future - and we've got some great updates in the works.
Realise this announcement has come as a surprise and I understand the feeling of uncertainty which is brings, but I do think it's all very positive for the company and our customers.

🇬🇧 Hi @stokerg, in fact, I reacted with this post following a simple viewing (in French) of the What's New 2.4 page of the short (silent) video Ability to lock insertion targets and I think I have a a little too interpreted!…
After several tries, the function is perfectly operational if you carry out successive copy and paste. On the other hand, as I demonstrated in my video, making copies by drag and drop with the “Option” key or the “Command” key does not work and the copies are always placed in the foreground. @Aron LW wrote it perfectly.
So, my apologies for my misinterpretation.
Finally, this new function can prove to be very practical… in certain cases.

@Aron LW l'a parfaitement écrit.
Donc, toutes mes excuses sur ma mauvaise interprétation.
Pour finir, cette nouvelle fonction peut s'avérer être très pratique… dans certains cas.

Thanks for the response @Patrick Connor In the Whats New Affinity video for 2.4  it totally looked like they were using the CMD + Drag as it looked so effortless.
Fingers crossed it can be implemented as that would be a real time saver

Hello Designers! in todays video we are entering the world of fashion where we will design a coat / Jacket. I will guide you through it step by step , kicking things off with sketching out our concept using a pencil brush, we'll then go on to create a vector version. I will then then show you how to create a Houndstooth Repeating pattern, and we will use that to create a Style that we can easily apply to any design in just one tap. There will be lots of tips and tricks along the way. Hope you find it useful

Artistwright got a reaction from SKT7 in Gaussian Blur - sharp to blurry on one object.
I'm thinking more in terms of drawing a shadow. Let's say we have a black shape which will be a long shadow, on one end of the shadow I want it to have a well defined sharp edge and on the other end I want it to get gradually more blurry. I'm thinking the Gaussian Blur could be modified to achieve this.
If anyone can do this another way please let me know.

Artistwright reacted to JimmyJack in Creating an Interactive Loupe - for no particular reason 🙃
Fun little exercise with no real practical use (I think).
    Interactive Loupe:
    Couple of notes:
    • Requires filter(s) in Photo. It's not using actual zoom. It's using either a Spherical or Punch filter, and therefore is limited to their 100% values.
    • To set a custom center point for the chosen effect click on canvas when it's panel is active.
    • The three elements need to be selected as separate entities and moved together. Grouping them destroys the different "lock children" attributes needed.
    • I'm not sure how useful it is. It's not really a tool per se. And Affinity doesn't do animation, so... there are faster ways to get to the same end result (without limitations) for a static output. Although, the slight curve of the filters sells the effect nicely 🤔.
    • So it's really just kinda more of a fun trick. That's why I'm putting it here in Tutorials, rather than Resources.
That being said.... have a play.

Artistwright reacted to The Bearded Bird in Exporting to different folders
Hi, I am currently working on an app design project, and I love the export persona when it comes to exporting all the icons used in the app in different sizes. But Just realized that I can export the different sizes in their correct folder, just by adding the folder name and "/" in the export. This is something I have not found or been told anywhere else. So I thought you guys might like it as well.

In my case, there are 60 icons that are going to be exported in 5 different sizes, so this was a real time saver.
