  1. apologies, I'm getting confused with photoshop lock pixels. I'm Adobe when I work in house, Affinity in my home studio. Key commands are a nightmare!
  2. thanks @loukash tbh, it's probably quicker to just lock the layer before hiding it
  3. Many thanks @NathanC Yes, I've seen both these threads, but given they're a couple of years old now wondered if there had been any progress/something I'd missed. I guess for now it remains a quirk of the software 🙂 I appreciate the reply
  4. Hi, I hope I'm posting this in the right place. Affinity photo has this weird thing where you can inadvertently draw on/edit with any tool a layer that has its visibility switched off. When you hide a layer, it's in essence switched off, so it seems strange that you are still able to edit it in its hidden state? And as yet, I have yet to fathom how anyone would be able to, let a lone want to edit something they can't see! Is there a way to disable this? I can't see anything in settings/preference or by googling. I know I can lock layers etc as a work around, but I'm am I missing something obvious? It would be helpful to follow the Photoshop convention of if you can't see it, you can't edit it. Thanks in advance.
  5. big plus one to all this. I'm using V2.0.4, (currently the latest version) Please can we simply just have the 'Align to' options non-greyed and available at all times? Not a major code edit. Yes, it makes sense to remember the last used settings, but it also makes sense for a user to be able to change those parameters from the get go instead of having to perform an alignment action you don't want in order to unlock the panel. It's illogical and counter intuitive. It's kind of like an 80s computer game: perform a task, unlock the door!
  6. ... all i'm trying to report is that in V2.0.3 this behaviour it's not working for Adjustments [weeps...]
  7. Thanks @EmT, but i think judging by all the replies there must be some misunderstanding somewhere. Hopefully the screen shots will show what I mean. At the risk of repeating myself, I've use this daily in the 3 years I've been exclusively using Affinity products. In V1 ALL Effects and adjustments panes remembered each action and could be done and undone. In V2 it's only working with layer affects in both Designer and Photo. See attached images. Hopefully they upload in order...

  9. Thanks @NotMyFault, but this has always been possible. See above reply to Old Bruce, have a go and marvel at something you've been missing out on to improve your workflow 😀
  10. Trust me, it's there. I use it daily. Go to Preferences > Assistant > disable 'Enable Assistant' now open up Layer Effects (something like Inner Shadow with several sliders) move each one. Then Command Z and you'll see each action undo one at a time. Click Redo and the reverse happens. Open an Adjustment and try this and it undoes envy edit instead of the last one made. This is the bug.
  11. After a bit more digging this works as expected with Layer Effects, but not with Adjustments, it resets all sliders to the last opened state. Same with Designer so a shared glitch.
  12. Brilliant! - thank you! Switching off Assistant (default state in Photo) also achieves the same. OK, so this now works as expected with Layer Effects, but not with Adjustments, it resets all sliders to the last opened state. Same with Photo so a glitch there. Thanks again @Carl123
  13. with respect, no. single step undo/redos of incremental edits while you're working on an adjustment have always been available across all V1 design packages (and indeed all design software) - I use them daily! It's wasn't available at all in v2.0.0 and isn't doing what it should in the update.
  14. Similar to the bug in Photo except, if you try and undo an edit made to an Adjustments filter (eg move a slider in curves, levels, HSL etc) undo closes the panel. Open it again, make an edit to more than one slider it reverts to the last opened state of the sliders instead of the last move you made. 🤦‍♂️ An 'upgrade' should carry on from where it left off and add and improve functionality, not strip it of the most basic workflow. I wish I'd never upgraded to V2, I bought this to use it, not beta test it.
  15. finally Affinity bring back the ability undo/redo edits in the Adjustments filters. (curves, levels, HSL etc) Except, undo just re-sets the entire adjustment panel to it's default state instead of undoing the last tweak made. 🤦‍♂️ Which is a pain. You'd think an 'upgrade' would carry on from where it left off and add functionality, not omit basic, and I mean really basic features from the existing package. I wish I'd never upgraded to V2, I bought this to use it, not beta test it.
