Considering my 13+ years of professional retouching experience in PS, you no need to wait for a tooltip once you learn the tools and will recognize it by icons (otherwise, what are the icons there for?). And this part just steals the useful space.

Actually there's and @walt.farrell directed you to this. In my case i chose this keys.

Is there an option to auto add mask to a new layer? Didnt find it in settings.
Also would be nice to have an option for a shortcut "new later with mask". -
Found some solution.
1. Select area
2. Duplicate with CMD J to a new layer
3. Move with CMD
4. Click outside selection to deselect.
or
1. Select area
2. Duplicate with CMD J to a new layer
3. Click outside selection to deselect.
4. Move with V tool.
Not perfect, but better than nothing

What if the ctrl+shift+drag key combo just copies out the content of the selected area?It simply moves the area straight horizontally or vertically

yep i understand how to make it, but its all about the additional time to make all these steps (deselect, choose V tool). It seems like not a huge problem (yeah just 2-3 more seconds) when you work in easy mode, but when you make 30-40 photos in 8 hours or so, it makes a really huge problem, seconds turn into minutes or more. It's all about convenient and fast work.

I switched it with a shortcut, after i made a duplicate, but as you can see while there's selection, it doesnt work propertly. Thats why is the topic.

here is a simple example. I duplicate selection, then want to move it. And can do it only after make "deselect".

Im a PS user with 13+ years experience and used to this ability. I often duplicate elements to the new layer and move them, but just forget to deselect. It makes kinda mess with elements.

It would be nice to have an option in settings as "auto deselect" when you "duplicate selection" to a new layer with cmd+J.

The shortcut doesn't work when combined with the delete button. When I try to use it, the layer is simply deleted. But, it starts working when/if I open the settings window. And, of course, it stops working again when the settings window is closed.

thank you for the suggestion, it doesnt solve my problem, but it directed me to the wat how i solved it. In v2.1 were added some new shortcuts and in somehow it made the problem for my prev shortcuts i've made. Reset to Serif default - solved this problem. Thank you -
Keyboard shortcuts with the SHIFT key pressed still don't work. They act as if SHIFT was not pressed.

Oh, nice to know that it isnt my own problem, i mean it is not about my OS bugs because of some apps that use the same shortcuts or something like this.
