This did it. Thank you so much. Once I removed the meta data the files did not cause problems any more. No big deal with Affinity Photo if you know what's going on. My recommendation to the software engineers: The import function of Designer should take care of this automatically.

They are to blame, but you are right also. Once I separated the page in a different file the elements did not cause any error. Obviously it's not too practical to split documents as a workaround. We are talking about a 16 page document with mostly text and a few pictures that we have been using with smaller revisions for a long time already. Only if I include the two QR picture files trouble starts. Once I remove them from the very same document it's back to normal again. There seem to be some general instabilities in regards of picture usage in Version 2 as I can see from other posts.

The original files are attached already to this post. I am inserting to pretty small png/svg files showing a qr code. Usage of these images causes Designer to fail producing a printable PDF. Also they will not be displayed properly in the document.

One I include the files attached in a document Designer will not render a PDF, freeze or leave the elements uneditable.
