Yes I do. I've attached files using that link plenty of times. So are you saying that the embedded videos that I see others include within their posts, are videos that they have recorded and rendered on their computers and they use the 'attach' feature to upload them to this platform? Attaching videos to posts here on this platform have never crossed my mind due to how large video files can be. Images and smaller files are the only things that I thought could be uploaded. But NOW that you have me giving it a closer look... I see that it says the Max total size is 2 gigs. Never paid that any mind til just now. Okay, mystery solved. Appreciate you bringing that to my attention. Thank You once again! WB

I just wanted to find out how does one integrate a short video within a post here? I've been using Loom and then including the link within my posts. I see others' videos that look to be integrated into their messages here and I wanted to find out how can I go about doing the same thing when needed. Thanx! WB

Hi R C-R, I forgot to mention... I've been seeing different users say 'go to Preferences', but there is no Preferences within any of the menu options - at least not on my Windows desktop. The best I have come up with is Edit > Settings. NOW that I've dug into this some more since I saw your instruction, I realize that Settings < is > Preferences. What I'm thinking is, there's a Preference option on mobile devices but not on desktops. I can only speak for mine and on mine, I see NO Preferences menu of any kind anywhere. So after I went into settings, I navigated to 'Shortcuts' and I saw the 2 drop down menus that you mentioned, towards the top of the 'Settings' pop up box. I've set my shortcut. Really appreciate the help R C-R!! WB

Hello All, I am working in Beta 2.1 right now. (for full disclosure) I have just learned that I can rotate my canvas in 15 degree increments in Designer by View > Rotate Left/Rotate Right. I would like to know is there any way of setting a shortcut for this. Just to go 45 degrees is a pain. I've tried the 'Right Click' method as it instructs here https://bit.ly/41rH40z - but the rotate left or right options doesn't show up at all in my list of options for some reason. I see that in Photo, it's as easy as holding down Alt (or Alt & Ctrl) and simply scrolling the mouse wheel. Easy frikn peasy - but no such luck in Designer from what I can tell thus far. Can anybody help out with at least setting up a shortcut? Thanks! WB

Hey @iconoclast, I experimented using your method but I had to tweak it some. Unless I misunderstood. After I nested the background letters into each of the large letters, I >then< applied the Transparency tool to each of the backgrounds and that worked without a hitch. When I tried to apply the transparency/gradient to the large letters first and then nested the backgrounds into the large letters afterwards, it didn't work for me for whatever reason. They remained opaque. Greatly appreciate your input on this! WB Gradient Effect.afdesign

Hi @anto, Thanks for responding! Correct me if I'm mistaken but it appears that you are using a Text Frame with 'Filler Text' within your demo. Of course I could be mistaken. I will have to use a specific image file that holds specific letters whenever I set this up. I copied your steps but the large letters don't become transparent & show the smaller letters after I drag the 'small letters' image up for the Mask effect. The large letters remain completely opaque. Did I misstep somewhere within this process? Thanks. WB

Hi iconoclast, Out of the gazillion Affinity tutorial videos that I have watched and saved from YT, I have run across a couple that goes into exactly what you just described and I completely forgot about that method. I was hoping to get this done without doing this for each and every letter, but now that you reminded me about this, I now know that if I don't get lucky and find a more streamlined approach, I can most definitely get this done with the way you just reminded me about. Big Thanx! WB

Hi N.P.M., Within my short breakdown of what I am trying to do, I clumsily described what I was shooting for. So even though I did say that I want the background to show >only< outside of the letters, I also said a bunch of other stuff before I was through with my explanation so I apologize for the confusion. Yes, I want whatever background I use, to not be included in the larger letters in any way. I aiming for the background to not intertwine with the large letters at all. >Only< surround them. Thanks, WB

Hello All, I wouldn't be able to correctly/adequately type out what I'm trying to get done, so I created a short video to describe in detail what I'm trying to accomplish in Designer. https://bit.ly/40cSPXd I'm wondering if this is something that can be done in Designer or it would have to be completed in APh. I have no doubts that it can be done but I'm still a newbie at this. Lol. Thanx!! WB

Hello All, Is it possible to increase the content size on all pages simultaneously as opposed to being forced to adjust each and every page one by one? I am using Affinity Publisher to edit puzzles that are in PDF format. I would like to use up more page space by enlarging everything. See attached screenshot) I know how to adjust things per page, but I don’t have a clue on how to do multiple pages at the same time. I don't even know if what I'm trying to do can be done. I'm familiar with the 'Master Pages' in Publisher but I don't have any in-depth knowledge on how to use that particular feature - and even though my PDF is set for 8.5 by 11, I still have a significant amount of usable space left that's surrounding the puzzle. Just in case I'm not clear enough on what I'm asking here, I included a 40-second recording via this link > https://bit.ly/3U3gok0 < It’s me showing exactly what I want to get done. Thanks for any and all feedback WB

My fault @GarryP. I completely missed that you said that the different Affinity apps have different amounts of tools. My eyes were too tired when I read it the first time. And yes @Ron P. I was asking 2 different questions. (The colored shape tools and the amount of tools) So GaryP did indeed get me clear on that one. I totally got it. Since I never owned V1, I didn't know that they used to be blue before he made me aware of it. It's been a long couple of days - sorry about the confusion. I am all up to speed now though. Appreciate the assistance gentlemen!

My apologies @GarryP, I meant within 'Customize Tools' is where I see others with a vast more amount of tools available. So the colored shape icons weren't carried over from v1... I see. That seems a little nutty to me. Like going backward. Lol. And thanks for the head's up on the SOP here. I will make sure to start a new thread whenever I have additional / non-related questions moving forward. I'm still feeling my way around everything here. Appreciate your help!

Hi @Old Bruce, thanks for the info. I've been working with it a little bit and I think that I can make that work perfectly. I have a couple of other questions if you don't mind... I am trying to get my tool bar setup to how I want and almost every video tutorial that I have come across has wayyy more tools at their disposal than the default set that I have here. Is that just due to them possibly adding to their tool box over time or are there other tools here somewhere, but I have to do something to access them and make them visible? I Also - Many times I see that the 'shape' tools are colored in blue and I would like to do the same to mine. How do I get that done? Thanx Again!!!

Hello all. I'm in the early stages of learning the Affinity software. Just purchase the V2 Suite about a month ago. I am wondering is it possible to do a trace of an image (raster or vector) and mark the spots where all of the nodes are along the outline? I hope that makes sense. The end result that I am looking for is to have an image or drawing or character, outlined by only dots. Thanks!!

Hi @jmwellborn Thanks for reaching out. I appreciate the well wishes along with the helpful tips. I found 'Studio' with no problem. I was also able to locate 'Assets' under 'Windows' as well. In the left studio, I'm able to get these various categories (within my screenshot) when I choose 'Simply Flat Icons' in that drop-down box above. But, when I choose 'Default' within that drop-down box, Assets do show up right below it, but there are no options/icons available for it at all. Nothing is there. How do I go about populating 'Assets'? Or is it really necessary?

Yes @Komatös, you are correct. I don't have v1. And I was mistaken about that YT video. I must have mixed it up with a different one where the person was demonstrating v2. I've been looking at a TON of AD videos over the past few hours. LOL. I'll try the link and see if I can get lucky. Thanks! I would've thought that Affinity would have a site that would have all of their Styles available for download but so far, I can't find them anywhere.
-
Hi @carl123, Thanks for responding! As I stated in my initial post, I am brand new to this software and I don't have access to v1, so that isn't an option for me. Is there a site that I am able to download the Styles that doesn't come default with v2? If you have any links that could help me out, I would greatly appreciate it. And I brought up the different looking icons because a gentleman on YT was giving a brief demo on the styles and up until a few minutes ago, I >>THOUGHT<< that he was using v2 but I now see that he was actually using ADv1. So it all makes sense now.

Hi @Komatös, I Greatly Appreciate you answering my question!! So, I'm not missing any 'Styles' - V2 only have 7 by default! Okay, that clears me up on that! So let me ask you this - Where am I able to go to download the other Styles that were in V1? I saw a demo of some and they looked magnificent! And those aren't any of the 7 that v2 comes with. Thanks! Wayne

Hi @walt.farrell Thanks for the speedy feedback! Yes, going off of my 'novice level' research of this software today, I can clearly tell that V2 is noticeably different from V1. I have run across videos that goes over over both versions, so I get what you are saying with that. But where my confusion comes into play is, as individuals are going over V2, their Style icons are gear shaped, as well as they display many more default styles - and as I mentioned, I not only have different icons but I have only 7 styles in total, as well. Should I contact Affinity to see what the issue is or what would you suggest? So with 'Studio' - are you saying that there no longer exists a dedicated menu for 'Studio'? It is all now seamlessly integrated into the overall software? Is that what you meant with, "All the Studio selections are part of the Windows menu in V2"? Or am I misunderstanding you? In the Help section, all it says in reference to Studio is, "Restyled Studio panels via Window menu" - but I am not familiar enough with V1 to be able to recognize what has been restyled in V2. Thanks!

Hello All. I am completely brand new to this software. I just purchased AD v2 last week and I am struggling to find where all of my 'Styles' are. I've been able to find a handful of tutorial videos on YT that talks about Styles but I haven't been able to locate the majority of the default Styles that everybody goes over - nor do I see the 'Studio' option within my drop down menu under 'View'. There are only 7 Styles that I do see that's here already, BUT, those icons do not match the round 'gear' shapes that I've been seeing in all of the YT tutorial videos that I have come across. What I have looks like squared donuts. Can somebody PLEEZ help me with getting this all straightened out??! Thanx!
