  1. So bear with me for a moment because it usually takes me going over something multiple times before it finally sinks in as it should... Are you saying that due to the type of effect that I have here (the mitered outer edge) that there really isn't a guaranteed way that this type of outer edge will fully remain intact after the bleed has been trimmed? And therefore, it would be best to not bother with trying to move forward with that type of outer edge? I should go with a mitered inner edge instead, so that it will not make any difference how much is cut off because the outer edge has no detailed effect on it and therefore won't look horrible if the bleed trims off too much or even too little? Am I even close to what you have just laid out for me or am I off in left field somewhere?
  2. Hello All, I am creating a book cover that includes a border that I wish to not be cut off once it gets printed. My problem is that I am not exactly sure on how to properly position my cover alongside the KDP template so that I will know beforehand, that I have my cover page constructed properly - which will ensure that none of my border gets cut off during the printing process. Do I have to resize my cover since I will be setting it up with 'Bleed', or adding the Bleed measurements does not mean that resizing/enlarging pages is necessary? I have watched a hefty amount of YT tutorials that goes over this in detail - including KDP's own tutorials as well. For whatever reason the topic of bleed constantly makes me scratch my head. Could someone take a look at my thinking within the video and help me understand what I am misunderstanding. WB In need of some 'Bleed' clarity.mp4
  3. I will have to go through that process of copying w/o it checked again, because I >thought< that I paid attention to how it looked after pasting it to the other canvas and it didn't look as though all of the effects were brought over 'before' I enlarged it. So now since you've brought it up, I"m thinking that maybe I didn't eye it as closely as I thought I did, before I stretched it out. Thanks for pointing that out @Old Bruce.
  4. Worked Like A Charm! Thanx! So now this makes me ask... How did the checkbox not being checked, affect the FX results of the copy? I thought that came in handy only if something needed to be resized. How are the dots connected within this scenario? WB
  5. Hey Everybody, I would like to copy the effects of a Affinity Designer file that I downloaded to a different project - while keeping all of its FX properties intact, but apparently I am missing a step because once it's copied to another project, it loses something - and I can't figure out what that something is. You will see that the copied 'GLASS', lacks the FULL effects, but I am seeing nothing different between the original and the copied settings. Can Copy & Pasting FX to another canvas be done this way or is there something more that I need to do in order to pull this off? THANX! WB ALL Layer FX Identical.mp4
  6. Hey Folks, I've never heard of Pixel Bubble until their ad just popped up on my FB page a moment ago. They are promoting a sale of brushes that is directed towards Photoshop users. Would anyone know if their brushes are compatible with Affinity as well? Thanks! WB
  7. Hi All, Outside of holding 'Ctrl' and using the mouse wheel -OR- holding 'Ctrl' and pressing either 0 or 1, etc... Is there anyplace within any of the personas that gives us the ability to plug in an exact number to resize your canvas to an exact zoom level? Thanks! WB
  8. I made a line with the Pen tool. Set the stroke to zero BEFORE adding the text, and waalah, ALL GONE. That was pretty darn simple after looking back on it. Lol. I figured that the stroke would no longer exist after being set to zero which is why I didn't even bother... But apparently that isn't the case. Appreciate the Solve, @NotMyFault!!
  9. I am using a stroke as a path for my text. How do I get it to disappear so that only the text is visible once I'm all done and ready to export? Thanx. WB
  10. I'm still scratching my head on the copied guides issue. As far as SMP is concerned, I'm looking forward to putting it to good use once I come across a project that I can use it in. Thanks for all of the help with all of this. Appreciate it! See you soon. I already know that I'll be back with a litany of conundrums to be worked out. Lol WB
  11. You hit it right on the head. the 'Show margins' option wasn't checked. Thanks for the 'video' info. I will be adding them into threads here like everyone else from now on. Lol The Smart Master Pages tool is extremely powerful but I don't think it will be able to help me get through my 'second issue'. I don't import images individually as I'm creating by puzzle books. The puzzle images are a part of the PDF page files that I import into APu. To kinda piggyback on what @GarryP had mentioned in this thread, I don't see a way of Smart Master Pages being helpful in this scenario because I import the PDF puzzle pages by way of 'Add Pages From File' and the images are a part of each PDF page. Now if I used the 'Place Tool' to include the puzzle images, I believe I would be able to use SMP then. But so far, I'm unable to figure out how to apply SMP with what I'm currently doing with the puzzle PDFs that I use. But I'm pretty brand new at using Affinity so maybe there's a way to get this done that I haven't come across yet. WB
  12. I'm not sure if there's a way of using this method with the PDF puzzle files that I have to use. I don't see a way of changing the image positions retrospectively either - and I can't think of a way to intertwine the PDFs that I'm using with how Smart Master Pages work. It would involve too much time & effort to extract each image from each PDF file and then try to utilize SMP. SMP is great, I just don't think that I would be able to put it to work for me within this scenario. And I'm not even sure if the type of images that are in these PDF files could be used as a jpg or png would be. If you believe there's a way of making both work in harmony, please let me know. Thanks WB
  13. @thomaso, I started off trying to go about setting up a Master page as you demonstrated and THIS wound up happening. Could you let me know where I went wrong here because I'm unable to figure it out. ALSO - I wasn't sure if the videos that are attached to these threads are able to provide audio as well. The reason I say that is because there hasn't been one that I have come across that includes audio, which is why I just attached my video link to the previous sentence. I didn't want to take the chance of embedding it into this thread and then finding out that you didn't hear a single word I said once you responded. Lol. WB
  14. Thank you so very much for this Thomaso! When I first realized that I would have to adjust the images on either the right or left pages, I actually thougt of scaling either side all at once, but once I realized that I couldn't simply click-drag to highlight only one side from the top page all the way down to the bottom, I figured that there was no way to go about it doing it that way. But in the video that you just pointed out to me, I see that Affinity is SO PRECISE with what it's able to choose >no matter< how tiny the images show up on the screen... Well now that has given me a renewed hope and blown my mind at the same time. Lol. I didn't even consider trying it because I just knew (but actually I didn't know) that there would be no way to choose just the left or right pages with everything being zoomed out SO far. As far as the Master pages are concerned, I'm not quite sure that I follow. I have mine set up with Guides so that once everything is loaded into my project, I just snap them within the borders of the guides and adjust each accordingly. But it seems like what you are telling me is that I'm able to set up my Master pages in a way so that when I load in the PDF pages that has the images on them, the images will immediately fall into place due to how my Master page is set up? Is that what you are telling me or am I misunderstanding? I will be doing plenty of these types of projects in the upcoming future so by all means, clear me up on what you are instructing me on so that I can implement that improved workflow ASAP. With the videos - I use an online software called Loom. I record directly to their server (nothing is created and kept on my desktop) - So after recording, I just simply copy the link and paste it here. I considered using my OBS to record the videos here on my local machine but I didn't want them to start taking up so much space. But NOW that I think about it again, I won't have to actually keep them after they're uploaded anyway - I can just delete them afterwards and carry on with my day. Lol. @R C-R and @firstdefence pointed me in this direction sometime last month but like I said, I wasn't thinking about the whole process too clearly so I just kept using the links. So Thanks for bringing that up again Thomaso. Sometimes I need to have things poured into my head more than once before the 'clarity' of it all kicks in. WB
  15. Hey Walt, you are APPARENTLY... The MAN around here! LOL. This is now the 3rd time that I have dug into the archives of this forum to hopefully find an answer to a question that I really didn't feel like posting - and BAMM, you have already answered it for me once again. You are a wealth of knowledge and for that sir, I am most grateful! Lol. WB
  16. Paul and @walt.farrell, You 2 gentlemen are a couple of beautiful human beings! 😆 I guess that I was too droopy-eyed to catch everything the first time I looked at it and completely overlooked Walt's very last entry in the string of posts. I'm much more alert now and saw it THIS time. I used 'Move to front' besides click-dragging and it worked perfectly. Thanks for the followup Walt! Greatly appreciate you both for helping me out with this. Extremely Grateful! WB
  17. Hi GaryP, I am thinking that you didn't watch the 2nd half of the video. I had showed that I am unable (in this example) to move the rectangle layer to the top of the layer stack - and even when I was able to do so in an earlier attempt (don't recall how I pulled it off though) it still didn't hide the titles on the pages for some crazy reason. The only thing that I have been able to do so far is to drag the 'Master Page' group up to the top level in the layer stack on a particular page and then it covered up the title - but I will definitely NOT be doing that for each and every page. Lol
  18. Hello All, I am trying to use a master page to cover up some titles on the pages of the body of a PDF file. I want to type in my own titles after doing this but for some reason, I haven't been able to figure out what I'm doing wrong. I position a rectangle in the proper place on the master page but the titles are still visible on every page within the file. What has to be done to hide text on pages within the body of a file by way of using master pages? Here's a short video of me demonstrating what I'm trying to get done, if it's helpful. Thanks! WB
  19. Hello All, I need some help with positioning images within differing margin measurements in PDF files within Publisher. There is no way that I would be able to type out exactly what my issue is so I recorded this 2 minute video that gives you an exact breakdown of what my dilemma is. Appreciate Any and All assistance! Thanks! WB
  20. That worked perfectly for me @Old Bruce!! My numbering conundrum is in the past now. As far as converting a PDF outside of Publisher, I'm at a loss. Tried within the file itself and a couple of online programs but no luck yet. Would you have any suggestions for me? WB
  21. Hello All, I have a PDF file that isn't setup in a 'Facing' format. Each individual page sits on top of one another. I have setup 2 master pages within Publisher to automate the page numbering. My problem is that I setup the master pages as 'Facing' with the intent of having every page number showing up on the outer border of each respective page, but everything is showing up only on the left side of the pages within this PDF file. Is there a way to work with this PDF file so that the page numbers will place properly on each page once it's printed out into a book? Also - The first master page holds my page numbers and the second contains the other characters that I want to accompany the page numbers. Is there a way to combine these 2 types of master pages together into one? Here's a link to a short video that I just recorded that demonstrates what I'm trying to achieve - just in case I didn't present my question clear enough. Thanks!! WB PS - I'm working in Beta 2.1
