  1. I have been trying to figure out when in the process and how exactly did I add the text. My memory has been horrible for decades - I don't recall anything that I did then. The only thing that I can say for certain is that I didn't use the Erase Brush tool back then because I knew nothing about how to use it at that time. Lol
  2. I did rasterize it in order to create the page curl effect. I'll try the pixel layer and see what I can do. Thanks
  3. Hello All, I created this transparency effect a couple of months ago by happenstance - I now want to recreate what I did but I cannot remember what I did to bring about this effect. Please take a look at the attached video clip. Hopefully, somebody is familiar with how I made this happen. I've gone through all of my brushes but none of them are giving me this partial transparency effect, so I must have done something else when I put this together, but since I am pretty new at this, it was done completely by accident. #HELP Thanks! 4. I ran across this site somehow and saved it in my favorites over a month ago and never thought about it again. I'm glad I just ran across your post today. I need to start putting this to good use. Thanks for the head's up!
  5. Yes, I tried that first. It wouldn't work for me. I believe it's due to what @carl123& @walt.farrell alluded to - It's one of the functions that's constrained/restricted within 'Text Styles'. That's what I've concluded anyway.
  6. That is what I was thinking initially and so I went into the Character panel just to make sure I knew what I was talking about 🤣 and it is indeed Tracking. When you highlight/choose the character that you want to adjust, the following space adjusts accordingly. I tried Kerning specific letters, It remained on auto and wouldn't allow me to change the value. But ok, I got it. I'll have to live with that then. I think I'll manage. 😉
  7. I completely misread what you wrote. (I blame it on sleepiness) You were spot on with the Edit Detached as well. I didn't need to because I started on the left page. I went back through everything this morning and as you can see in the video, I found a way (actually inadvertently tripped across it) to number the fields in numerical order as I go. They're still 'bottom to top within the Layers panel of course, but I don't have to bother with repositioning them on the pages any longer. **- I believe I just have one last question on this here... I would like to adjust the tracking between certain letters but I haven't been able to figure out how to do that yet. I'm unable to click directly into the text boxes and I don't see a way of doing this within the Edit Text Style window either. DONE.mp4
  8. Hey @walt.farrell, I'm closing in on the finish line. Just have a couple of things that I'm not sure on. 1- The way in which I set up the framed text fields and 2- the way that each one populates as I'm constructing them. PS - I did not have to use 'Edit Detached' nor did I have to check the box for 'Restart numbering now'. Why? I couldn't tell ya. Each page within my test document populated properly with all of the solution numbers sequentially intact. (after I reordered them on page 1) And I just searched for 'Edit Detached' within the Paragraph panel and I'm unable to locate it. I'm familiar with 'Edit Detached' within the 'Layers' panel but nowhere else as of yet. Almost There.mp4
  9. I'll begin my deep dive into this and navigate my way through it. Greatly Appreciated @walt.farrell
  10. Okay. I know that it can be done now. I'll get my research going and start digging into how exactly to set this up. Because right now, I don't have a clue. 😅 Thanks @Old Bruce 👍
  11. I was actually thinking that I should be able to get this done via the Bullet and Numbering setup but I haven't figured out how to work that all out yet. My Process Breakdown.mp4
  12. Hi All, I have Master pages that I would like to automate sequential-numbering in 4 different locations on each page. I need the numbering to be sequential throughout a full set of pages. is there a way for this to be done? Or what would be the best way of accomplishing this if it can't be done that way? Thanks! WB
  13. 😅 - One of the best movies to ever hit the big screen. I guess that I'm forced to pay closer attention moving forward. But even if I do catch myself before I wind up applying the incorrect Master, I still have to re-shuffle them back to the order that they were originally in. So, would this be something that I alert Affinity about on my own? And if so, where do I go to do so?
  14. And I don't wish to reorder my Master pages, but it's happening despite my wishes anyway. Lol.
  15. Yes, the order within the Pages panel. I thought that the Pages panel was the only place that you could apply a Master from. It's also possible from the Layers panel or other places as well?
  16. Hello All, I'm wondering is anyone else experiencing this incredibly annoying and aggravating event that keeps happening to me... During the course of me importing and working on PDF pages within Publisher, there are times that when I am ready to apply one of my Masters to some of my pages, I come to realize that they are sitting in different places. Meaning... If I have 3 saved, all 3 have rotated and taken one of the other's spot. The 1st master has moved over to the 2nd spot / the 2nd has moved over to the 3rd spot and the 3rd has moved up to take the place of the 1st Master's location. If it's just 2 Masters, then they just simply flip flop positions. (Like Dan Aykroyd & Eddie Murphy) But wait, there's more... 😒 The titles of the Masters all remain stationary - only the actual masters themselves move to different locations. This doesn't happen all of the time but the frequency of it has increasingly gotten to the point that it occurs enough to become an extreme annoyance, because when I 'instinctively' hit apply (thinking that I am choosing the correct master) I then realize that my pages are completely screwed up, due to the incorrect master was sitting in the space where it wasn't supposed to be sitting. It's like they're playing musical chairs or something. It's starting to drive me crazy. Would anyone know if this is a glitch that has already been reported or this is something that is brand new to the community? Thanks! WB
  17. I'm still feeling my way around everything, so anytime a question pops into my head as I'm working on a project, I see if I'm able to find an answer for it over here and if I don't come across one within a previously posted question, I pose the question myself. I just used 'Pixel Persona' only as an example of a 'sub' persona, that's all. BUT... Now that i know that it's a like a limited version of APhoto, I will remember that for future reference. This software is literally blowing my mind with all of the functionality & features that's intertwined within it. I purchased the suite around the beginning of the year and just really started digging into it about a couple of months ago, so I am constantly learning new things every single day. I knew absolutely Zero about Affinity before then and now I have completed a couple of very detailed laden projects - and I have only scratched the surface of what the whole suite has to offer. So you all have answered my question, and then some. Thank You WB
  18. Howdy Folks, I ran across someone on YT a while ago that said that he works on everything by opening up in Publisher because you’re able to seamlessly go between platforms via Studio Link when necessary - As opposed to ‘File > Edit in XXX’. I have come to find out that THAT makes a lot of sense. But I have a question about this approach… If you have to hop over into one of the ‘sub’ personas, such as the Pixel Persona for instance, how can that be done when you open up your work in Publisher? So far I haven’t seen a way of getting there. THANX! WB
  19. My apologies on the tardy response. I thought I had back when I first saw your reply. Thanks for the advice. I'll reach out to them. WB
  20. So that begs the question... Let's rewind all the way back to the very beginning when a person is just starting off with the software. If an end user has never used a brush before and they were looking to use a mask to cover up/erase some things within a layer for the very first time... What brush does Affinity initially prescribe to the end user in that scenario? Does Designer just go with whatever brush that it likes the best?? 🤣 I just figured that there was a way to deselect previously used brushes so that the end user would be able to set the size of their brush/circle and use that designated-sized circle to proceed with. It makes no sense that a person would have to scroll through a bunch of brushes until he/she comes across a solid, no FX, small area brush to work with. (because that is exactly what I am doing right now) I'm kind of bewildered as to why there isn't a default 'circle-shaped' brush to revert back to when needed. Wow. I guess I'll have to make my own Eraser Brush... 😕
  21. Hello, I’m working in Designer and I just applied a mask to erase some things within my project, but the brush that is coming up for me to use is a brush that I used the last time I was working in Designer. I am not looking to use any of my brushes at the moment, I just want to erase pieces of a layer. How do I go back to the default brush (deselecting the current brush) so that I can just do some simple erasing? Thanx! WB
  22. I like what you did there! I'm definitely going to go that route. I just had to go over what I did again because I had forgotten. Lol. Yes, I expanded a stroke to create that border - and I see what you mean by, it would be difficult going that route. I am pretty new to Affinity so you have just shown me a different way of pulling off that effect. Using rectangles never crossed my mind. Once again you've been a Huge help @Old Bruce! So, just to make sure that I now have a firm grasp on 'Bleed'. When I hear someone say... 'Add x.xx for bleed', they are actually saying, design your project to >account for< that amount around the edges because that is what will be shaved off? I believe what has been throwing me for a loop all of this time is that, when I hear, 'Add', I'm taking that word literally - But in essence I actually need to subtract. So in other words, I should create my project in a way so that I am prepared that x.xx will be cut off >from< the edges of my 8.5 by 11. Does that make sense? I need to just simply fully overlay and follow the template without doing any maneuvering?? 😂
