  1. Changing this setting has 'fixed' the problems - thanks but why would the canvas size be wrong?
  2. Thanks but how do I change the 'canvas size'? - I didn't consciously change this, I selected B5 as the document size. I have looked in 'settings' but cannot find anything.
  3. Attached are three screen prints, the first shows a rectangle (bottom left) set as 0pt - this too heavy for my needs, the second shows the same rectangle set as 0.3pt and, as you can see, it is very thick (previous versions of the software were typically set at 0.7 - 0.9pt for a thin line weight. The third picture shows a similar problem I have now found whereby text font size is very large the 'B' is 0.9pt (which should be about the size of the other text on the picture). The picture overall size is B5 format.
  4. When using a drawing tool (rectangle etc.) the width tool slider increments seem to have changed whereby 0pt is minimum width - anything larger is huge - this has never been an issue previously. Using Windows 11, version 22H2. Attached picture shows the very thick lined rectangle set as only 0.2pt line width! The thinnest line is 0pt. Designer Line drawing pfroblem.pdf
  5. For no reason the 'Place' tool file option becomes 'Text Files (*.TXT)' and thus will not 'see'/open any other type (.JPEG, .PDF) etc. This has happened a few times randomly. I.e. I had imported circa 10 .JPEGs OK when suddenly it stops. Restarting the software and also rebooting the PC has no affect.
  6. Hello, I'm unsure as to whether this is a bug or I'm doing something wrong but I'm trying to 'customise the tools'. The menus seem OK but I cannot find the icons I want in the list to select from. See the screen shots attached, the icons I want are the 'shapes' icons (clouds, triangles, etc.) but the options panel doesn't include them.
  7. It never 'blue screens' but the Designer software stops in various states - e.g black screen but other apps often still work. The usual fix is to go to Task Manager and 'End Task' there - often takes a few attempts. When restarting Designer afterwards my work is never lost (thank goodness!).
  8. Thanks for the reply. With regard to the crashes, you've lost me somewhat but all I can say is that the computer is a virtually new- I have attached the basic spec as a screenshot.
  9. Two issues so far: 1) Line width - value doesn't increment correctly via 'slider' - used to be perfect. Pic attached ... 2) Entire system crashes often - seems to be a memory issues as the software 'grabs' loads of memory - very noticeable when exporting a file to a PDF - if the process 'freezes' when it it composing a preview, I know that, at the very least 'Designer' will crash or worse - the entire computer will crash! This problem seems to be with any version V2.
  10. I've tried this with Designer V2.04 and it doesn't seem to work - the default remains as Arial - any ideas?
  11. Hello Allan, Affinity contacted me to say that V2.0.3 is now available and this should improve the situation. I have upgraded to this version but I have yet to try it 'in anger' to see if has actually worked, might I suggest that you try and do the same. Regards, MWOO
  12. Thanks, I upgraded to V2.0.3 yesterday so it's early days to see if the problem is fixed but I'll let you know ... .
  13. I also get Publisher 2 crashing (also Photo 2 if it is running at the same time). It happens frequently when trying to paste large volumes of text from another source (e.g. MS Word) - Publisher seems to use inordinate amounts of memory which climbs until it crashes - typically after about one-two hours use). I have resorted to using Adobe InDesign and Photoshop for the time being until some fixes are announced. A pity as I find the V2 products very good (when they work!).
  14. Hi All, sorry but I keep trying to say that this problem is with my Windows 11 PC - not Apple. The forum name is 'Apple/Windows issues' - perhaps there should be definitive separate forums for the two systems? I haven't used Publisher for a few days as I need to get some publications 'out' quickly so I am reverting to Adobe InDesign for the time being - pity as I like the Publisher system.
  15. Hello, sorry but it's no good sending the crash report to me as I'm an end-user trying to report the problem to the Affinity tech chaps. I was told to put my issue in the Windows section of the forum but I cannot find a separate Windows section - the forum is just marked MacOS/Windows.
  16. I earlier reported that Publisher V2 (Windows) becomes slower at responding after a few hours use - it seems to use a great deal of memory. It has now crashed (whilst trying to paste a MS word document) and will not restart properly - as soon as I try to continue working, it stops responding and I have to close it via Task Manager. This has happened twice in three days of use - last time this happened Affinity Photo2 would not load either - I re-downloaded the software from Affinity and re-loaded both programmes and this seemed to overcome the problem. There appears to be a serious issue with the V2 suite - a pity as the product could be excellent ... .

  18. I seem to have a similar problem (if I understand what is being said). I set a text-wrap border but the text will not wrap tightly to the border and still follows the original square border. See attached screenshot.
  19. Yes - I have noticed this - the ACER desktop PC is new with Intel i7, Windows 11. Task manager shows Publisher is using 1.6gb memory (82% used). but very low CPU. Adobe InDesign running at the same time is using 52Mb memory. The Publisher response seems to get slower after a couple of hours use on the same document.
  20. Hello, I have been using Adobe InDesign for 10 years and am now trying to change to Affinity Publisher V2 (swapping is probably more difficult than starting from scratch!). Most aspects of Publisher seem intuitive but I'm having real problems with text frames. Creating and linking them etc. seems but moving them and altering their height seems impossible! After setting the frames c/w linked text etc. I cannot 'grab' the bottom of the frame and move it up or down within the column and move it to suit my requirements - the system moves it back to its original position - most frustrating as I cannot see what the issue is (the linked frames handle my changes OK so why can I not do what I want?) This feature is a piece of cake (and very handy) in InDesign - I must be doing something wrong but cannot find much (any) info about moving text frames. I also placed a small jpg image in one column occupied with a full text frame, selected 'text wrap' and selected either 'jump' or 'square' and in both cases, instead of simply moving the text to slightly below the image, text wrap shifted the text completely out of that frame into the next linked frame. This has only happened in one case - I had previously used text wrap entirely successfully - could it be something to do with the image format? Any ideas please?
