  1. (tiny) Bug: The Export PDF "Include Bleed" checkbox in the main PDF export screen is out of sync with the "Include Bleed" in the more slide out window. Maybe it should just not be in "More" ?
  2. I have printed several perfect bound books using CreateSpace, and I normally keep the internal pages as a single PDF, and the cover (page size *2 + spine + bleeds) as a separate PDF (oftentimes cover in Illustrator or Photoshop -now AP or AD), and do the internals in InDesign with facing pages printed out to single pages in the PDF. Not sure if that helps - I haven’t normally put the cover in the same file as the internals.
  3. (couldn't find a bug icon ) When creating a new section in section manager, it doesn't take into account which section you have selected, and the arrow dropdown for page to start at do not work - selecting the page number with your mouse and entering the page number manually works however.
  4. I wonder if those display modes could work with the affinity split screen slider? That would be awfully nice to scrub and see one side of the spread in presentation, while working on the other side in normal working view with guides and bleed and such!
  5. Hi Affinity Team, I just wanted to post a quick note to say that you have created a pretty amazing app with Publisher. I think the passion from the community around what needs fixing and adding and what have you gets a lot of focus - I have definite interests around certain aspects such as bleed and whatnot, but taking a step back for a minute....Publisher is quite incredible. I mean I imported a print ready PDF of one of my past books created in InDesign into Publisher, and it came in perfectly with editable text, separated images, vector art and everything! I recall years back wishing I could open a PDF in InDesign, but had no way to do it - maybe there are tricks or third party apps that work with InDesign, but I was unable to....and here I am a week into the beta and already glossing over amazing functionality like this taking it for granted. Please take it as a testament to your great work, as well as your impeccable past track record with other betas of frequent and impressive updates, additions and bug fixes - in addition to this community wanting this to be an incredible first release. Thank you for all of your hard work, and for all the work going on behind the scenes while these forums rack up the posts. I'm so excited for the upcoming beta and eventual final release, Not to mention a future iPad version!! Incredible. Keep up the great work!! thanks again, -damian
  6. Thanks for all of that info @A_B_C ! I am in a similar situation to @serge where I use Create Space, and they also require the PDF to be output to single pages....that said, I was reading in another post that support for printing to single page PDFs is coming soon So I think that may resolve this single page bleed issue causing the page size to be too large to be accepted by these printers, which would be terrific.
  7. My one concern with the way bleeds are handled is that for the beginning page, and the final page (not in a spread) there is bleed on both the left and right sides, instead of omitting the bleed from the binding edge. I was concerned there might be issues with printing in this case, but perhaps not?
  8. I see the Bleed frame now appearing in the new beta which is terrific! That said, I am a little confused...if I have a facing pages document, I need to set both Left and right bleed so that outer edges have bleed, but then on page 1 it is showing the bleed frame extension on both left and right sides of the single page. Now, I don't know if it is because I'm not familiar with large publishing houses, and have only prepared Indesign files myself for printing my books, but with a facing pages document there should be a notion of a binding edge where "Inside" and "Outside" maybe make more sense. Left and Right seems clever, but then produces bleed on BOTH sides of the first page of the book which I would be worried may be misprinted since normally there would only be one side of bleed. Just wondering if this is a bug or yet to do change needed or is this useful in other situations? I can see a single page doc wanting full bleed on both left and right. Thoughts?
  9. I'm not sure if this is a bug or something I have missed. 1. Bleed settings: I did find the bleed settings - was a little confused as to "left" and "right" being used to "inside" outside" from InDesign, as I normally have 0 bleed on inside, and not sure how that translates to left and right. 2. Edit: this is not in the current beta, but coming soon. Bleed Display: InDesign will show the extended bleed in the canvas...so my 7" x 10" page would appear larger in the canvas. I'm not sure if it is not showing and there is a way to make it display? In InDesign I can toggle view modes to hide/show bleeds/preview/etc modes....don't see anything for that so not sure where to look.Any ideas here would be great. On a side note, I see things like Constraints being in Publisher also, and the mind reels at the capabilities that could have with layouts! Really liking what I have seen thus far! Great work Affinity!
  10. OMG @MattP!! Now that's how you fix the brush pressure sensitivity!! Incredible - so much better Thank you!! no more blobs, and smooth transitions from thin to thick to thin - working really nicely!! Thank you again! (please keep those blobby ends away from the ios version too please - can't wait to try vector brushing in that ) Thank you again!! -damian
  11. I'm seeing vector brush lines with full size variance based on pressure not being able to ramp up from zero thickness, and instead have a blob to start (drawing on Wacom Cintiq connected to MBP). It seems like the rest of the line variation is improving over 1.5.5 which seemed to not register the pressure sensitivity as well, but hoping it continues to improve along with getting rid of this blob tip. thanks, -damian
  12. I am loving Photo for iPad, and can’t wait for Designer (I want to draw with vector brushes )...but one thing that would be nice would be to make the navigation between the tool context menus faster. The brush menu for example has 3 ‘pages’ now, and the tappable arrow moves to a different location every time you tap it due to width differences in the menus - I don’t know if it would cause too much interference with controls, but it would be nice and much faster if I could swipe left and right between the menus.
  13. Great suggestions and completely agreed A_B_C, and the new option in beta 2 to only allow touch for gestures REALLY helps for palm rejection - though it would be nice to allow touch for UI also, and only pencil and gestures for canvas (if possible). I would love to see the little "blob" from the thin beginning of pressure sensitive lines go away! This haunted illustrator for years. Oh, and an undo gesture is a big one (as already mentioned).
  14. Opening an afphoto file from Dropbox worked fantastically well, but I didn't have one of the fonts on my iPad - would love to be able to add fonts to keep the visual fidelity in sync. (also for AD on ipad when it is ready) Amazing work on the app!! I'm stunned how much you were able to do, and how well. thanks, -damian
  15. +1000000 for the export quality preview in Affinity Photo (and Designer). It's basically the only thing I need to go back to Photoshop for.
  16. This might be feature request, or maybe I am doing something wrong? If I place/embed an AD document into an APhoto document, when I double click on the AD layer in APhoto it opens it in a new document tab also in Photo. My question is - if it is an AD document imported, shouldn't it open it in AD? The Edit in AD option is not available for this embedded document either. (linked documents as opposed to embedded would be nice also, but that's a different topic). Thanks, -damian
  17. Here is the Photoshop ICO export plugin for reference that would be great to be supported: http://telegraphics.com.au/sw/product/ICOFormat
  18. +1 for this also...I'm running into needing to export BMPs and .ICOs also for this same reason, and am jumping back to Photoshop for only this reason - ICO is possible through a Photoshop plugin, but adding that plugin to APh doesn't seem to work.
  19. Thanks for taking a look, and yes this is exactly what the Affinity apps are failing on - the 'ti' ligature. If you open it in Acrobat or even Apple's Preview app, it recognizes it as text, and is selectable as such and maintains all text content. If you open it in Photoshop, Pixelmator, Fireworks it is rasterized, but remains accurate and contains the 'ti' ligatures also. As you mentioned, this is where the Affinity apps seem to be having an issue - it simply drops the ligature altogether and doesn't display it like all of the other apps. I took care of what I needed using Pixelmator so it's not urgent for me, but would be good to have this fixed at some point.
  20. When you have AD and AP installed, it would be nice if when you add a folder into the Media Browser in one app it would also be available in the Media Browser in the other app. EDIT: also, I didn't even realize that AD or AP had this until today - it's a GREAT addition...would be nice if it could be a lockable window also...when I tab to Finder, the window disappears from AD/AP which is unusual and makes the drag/drop awkward as it won't appear again until AD/AP gets focus again.
  21. here is a cropped version with the text issue - the PDF was created from Photoshop. affinity text issue.pdf
