  1. here is a set up i think is quite nice. Thanks @loukash! DS130.webm DiffuseFilterSetup.afphoto
  2. Cool that works. But it is not as intuitive as in Photoshop as the settings of the live filter seems to influence the amount of diffusion and not the Pixel Values itself. Maybe I am not using the right settings. But it is in some ways more powerful than Photoshop as you can create very smooth diffusion. Also i see an edge at the canvas bound. Is there a way to get rid of this? Thanks and best!
  3. Hmmm I dont think that it works. Here is the way I understood your instructions. DissolveMode Recreation.webm
  4. Hello Dear Affinity Users! I started to look into the procedural Texture Filter and it is really cool for many small things. Unfortunately my understanding of mathematics is really small and all the functions listed in the help page are cryptic to me. I was trying to create a Radial Gradient in 32bit to use in Substance Painter. The Gradient Tool unfortunately gets only exported as a dithered gradient.. I have this Function written (I cobbeld this together from the help page....), which produces a radial gradients that squares off towards the edges... Image attached has a Gradinet Map applied to it to give it ripples for visualisation purposes var vignettew=vec2(abs ((x-0.5*w)/(w)),abs ((y-0.5*h)/h)); (1-oscsc(vignettew))*2 I would love for it to be round till the edges. Any Procedural Texture Experts around that could maybe help me out? Thanks in advace! PS: Also I would love of resource where I can learn about those functions in a structured way...
  5. I was able to reproduce this workaround. Thank you! But it is not really a passable solution if you have a group of objects.
  6. I stumbled across this weird bug, that if you have a Motion Blur Filter somehwere applied, the export to PDF reasterizes the whole document instead of just the relevant layers. Tested in Affinity Photo V2.2.1 on Windows 10. Here is the file to reproduce it. Export to any PDF format. I used PDF (digital - high quality) Affinity_PDFExport_FlatteningifMotionBlur.afphoto
  7. I just tested it on my Machine Running Windows 10 with a Threadripper 3960X and an RTX 3090: The Brush Engine is way Faster on my 3090 then on the A3000 Mobile, but even then I can fell I tiny Lag. When I disable the OpenCL Compute it is even faster though. So I dont really see the point of this Option so far Just as a side note
  8. Thanks for this thorough answer, really appreciate it! I will definetly test it on my RTX 3090 station to see if the A Series is any different from Geforce Series GPUs. Thanks again!
  9. Cool, thanks for the help! But I highly doubt that my Hardware can be considered outdate (drivers are up to date as well). So there has to be an issue with OpenCL implementation or OpenCL in itself. What is it used for if not for brushes itself? And isnt the general assumption that tasks that can be run by the GPU should be running faster than on the CPU? I am confused.... Anyways not important, just a general wondering
  10. Hey Dan, I just remembered, that I had another issues with the OpenCL Setting and disabled it and now it is blazingly fast! So thanks fpr the hint! But why is it slower with OpenCL Compute acceleration than without? Here were the original settings:
  11. Hey Loukash Sorry for only answering now. Here are some Videos trying to create a comparison on a document I am currently working in. As the Brush Engine is not the same it's always apples to oranges but I think its still showing the issue. I tried to pick two similar brushes. But as is visible in the recording it is obvious that Affinit Photo is struggling. This recording is done on a HP Zbook Studio G9 16" with Intel Core i9-12900HK and RTX3000 mobile on Windows 10, I have similar Issues with my workstation with a Threadripper 3960X and a RTX 3090. I would say this exceed average specs and should be similiar performance on single core as your M2 CPU. Affinity Photo Version 2.2.1 Photoshop Version 25.1.0 The Document is only 890px wide... Maybe the performance depends a lot on the document, how many layer, filters, etc (exclduing size with is most important but it is not an issue in my recording) Laggy Brush Performance.webm Peformance in Photoshop.webm Bacteria.afphoto
  12. I recently started to try to paint in Affinity Photo. I has many tools and many also work well. Features are still fewer compared to Photoshop (industry standard for illustration and concept art). That would not be a huge problem as it has other great benefits. One thing that is a usability killer though is the performance of the brush strokes. Most of them are just really slow (for example the "Analoge Ink Nib"), especially when creating big long strokes. It gets worse the complexer and bigger the brushes get. Thats on completely empty documents, if you have some filter or other things applied it often stutters... It makes the whole experience quite tedious and unintuitive, which is the last thing you want for drawing and painting. That is something that has to be adressed to be able to compete with Photoshop, Krita (free) or Procreate (practically free)... Best
  13. I would love to have a dissolve blend mode in Affinit Photo, as Photoshop has. It has some use cases for creating nice and noisy Blurs 😍 Maybe there would be a possiblity to add it to the diffuse Filter, which just diffuses uniformly, not respecting the blur level of the pixels. Just a Suggestion!
  14. When creating a Fill Layer and then applying a Raster Image Mask to it, the PDF export of this layer doesn't work. The Layer is just not exported into the PDF. If you use a Rasterized Layer, instead of a Fill Layer it works. The same happens, when placing a document that has a Fill Layer with a Raster Image Mask. Tested on Windows 10 (Edited to Windows 10 from Windows 11) Affinity Publisher 2.2 Fill Layer with Raster Mask not exporting to PDF.pdf Fill Layer with Raster Mask not exporting to PDF.afpub
  15. IpadOS 16.3.1 Affinity Photo V2.2 Ipad Pro 12.9" 1st Gen Bug: Turning "Retina Rendering Only" is not having an effect on how the strokes of the brush tool are getting rendered. I get blurring of the canvas with the option turned off and on.
  16. @lepr Thanks for confirming! Will do what you suggested for now then! @NathanC Thanks for doing that!
  17. Hmm, good point. When i use 100% opacity on the shadow color picking works as excpected. But I tried to recreate it by matching opacity, and it still doesnt work as i would expect. In this sceenshot i matched the opacity to the FX opacity and the colors are still slightly off. For testing purposes you can find the layer from the psd in the example files under "Example 2". In your example its hard to tell if they have the same color by eye as the checkered Background is a bit disturbing. So it seems to be related to opacity...
  18. Heyhey, just stumbled upon a problem I dont really understand. Before filing a bug report, I wanted to ask if I am maybe doing something wrong. The problem is that the color picker doesnt pick the color i see in the document. I could recreate a similar problem as seen in Video in the affinity file, though less pronounced. I think it relates to the blending modes in the FX on the layer. Is this expected behaviour or a bug? And also why would it be stronger in the "karte" file? Any inspection on the problem would greatly be appreciated. Also this is a behaviour that can cause a lot of headache as it is hard to notice in some cases. So if it is a bug I would like to report it. Here are the associated files: 1. Video Showing the problem. 2. File from the Video: "Karte V2 CMYK.psd" This is a Photoshop-file, that got imported to AF Photo 3. Screenshot: FX layer settings of the trouble causing layer in the "Karte V2 CMYK.psd" 4. AF Photo File with a similar problem, though less pronounced. If you zoom in you can tell, that the colors dont match. The color got picked from the Shadow of the FX Layer. "CMYK COlor Picker not working correctly" Hope this is all clear otherwise I am happy to provide further details! 19. So I filed a bug report. Even if we find a way that it still works in V2.1.1 I think that the way I go about is still intended by them to work in the expectet way. Otherwise Affinity staff can explain it as a "feature" Here is the Bug Report if anyone wants to contribute Thanks to all it is really great to get so many helpful responses so quickly!
  20. Moving (move tool or selection toll + Ctrl held down) a selection of pixels with multiple layers selected in the layers panels moves the entire layer instead of just the selected pixels. See attached Video. Tested on Windows 10 with Affinity Photo Version 2.1.1 and Affinty Publisher 2.1.1 in the Photo Persona. Also test on Affinity Version 1.10, where it works as expected. For more information refer to this forum thread: Moving Pixels of multiple layers in pixel selection at once V3.mp4
