  1. Hallo all I'm looking to make an artist portfolio for myself. But I'm having some difficulties with the PDF's file size. I have a bunch of different photos, some that are very large and others that are smaller in terms of file size. But since it's an artist portfolio, it's important that the resolution is high. But the resulting PDF is huge and some of the opportunities I want to apply to specific that the portfolio shouldn't be bigger than 10MB 1. What are the advantages of first processing the photos in Affinity Photo (cropping and downsampling) and then placing them in Publisher? It'd be easier for me to always work in Publisher to be able to make adjustments and using the vector crop feature on the fly. 2. What are the best settings for the PDF export? This will be likely seen on a monitor rather than printed. I'm a little confused about the downsample images larger than... setting. Does it make sense to always set the value the same as the Document's DPI?
  2. @GarryP I’ll keep it here since I’d called it a usability issue. I need to load up a “Designer” profile, and then that designer profile doesn’t act consistently with the main app. I’ll look to search the forum more broadly in future for advice.
  3. @loukash @GarryP thanks for clarifying this for me. Maybe it would be nice to hide the stroke by default.
  4. When using publisher and switching to the designer profile to add text onto a curve, I have found that the curve doesn’t disappear after I added the text. This doesn’t match how adding text to a curve works in affinity designer or affinity photo. Can you please test this out and let me know if you need precise replication steps.
  5. Sorry if I didn’t clarify. The export to PDF from affinity designer, and then placing into a publisher document works fine. On my video, I did mention that either Apple files or the affinity apps forget the current working folder. This happens both with the share option and when using OK. But that is not related to this thread.
  6. New improved video tested on the same designer file as a PDF and there were no crashes on one test IMG_0681.MOV
  7. Hallo I found it’s to with designer files with multiple art boards in my case. To clarify one step. I can’t “export” the file, but I can do a “save as” from the Home Screen. Hopefully the video makes it clear. it resembles @Clomir Pélagorne’s issue with multiple pages of one PDF being put into one publisher file.
  8. Hello I’m finding cutting and pasting text from other apps into Affinity Designer/Publisher a little bit difficult. A few helpful options come to mind: Allowing drag and drop of a selection of text from another app into the Affinity apps (could appear on the Place menu) when doing a normal cut and paste, placing the text in a frame text box at the point where you place your finger to get the paste command (Right now it seems to go somewhere unpredictable). allowing split view
  9. I’m encountering the same kind of issue. I’m trying to use linked afdesigner files inside a Publisher document and find that Publisher crashes on re-opening the document. Replication steps. 1. Create afdesigner file 2. Save to Files 3. Create a Publisher file with Linked files as the preference for placing content. 4. Place the Designer file in that document. 5. Close Document 6. Re-open Publisher document. Result - crash
  10. I found it a bit confusing when making changes to page sizes after creating and working on a document. When I switch ‘facing pages’ off, there’s no change in the UI on the left. I have attached a before and after shot. My example is a bit strange, but I’ve encountered it on other documents when I’ve made changes to document set-up. The document changes work fine once I click ok, so it’s just the UI here. It would also be helpful to show page sizes on each of the pages eg. A4 or xxx by yyy
  11. The help file says you can only import xlsx files into Affinity publisher. I’d like broader support for data types, such as the trusty .CSV file. On the iPad it should also be possible to import Numbers files I found that dragging a XLSX file directly onto a table crashed the app. I had exported from Numbers, so I’m not sure if that could be a factor here.
  12. I find Adobe Capture does some kind of auto-trace, but I’m not sure if it’s good for everyone’s uses. Vectornator also has this function. It would be much more handy to have it inside Affinity directly.
