  1. Happy day to the team no doubt. You earned it! Freaking nightmare to the user base. Although today and the days forwards i know everyone from the team wants to reiterate how good it will be. Guys, really? Tell me a awesome app who was bought by a 3rd party who didn’t became dog dodo? That’s an incredible amount of naivety. If you sold it you don’t own it, if you don’t own it you don’t make any sort of decision. Period, canva for me is even worse than adobe for they are the “cheap knock off” Hopefully v2 will last until new team with the same passion can built something without needing “more funding” . Thought affinity will be like blender. Guess not. But again, congrats to all the team, to ash for being able to do it. Was a long journey and true, you guys didn’t quit. hoping to see what the rest of v2 will bring until canva f:;)&&& everything. P.s. Affinity users were a niche population of people who cant afford software and dont like subscriptions or subscription type mega companies. The moment you change that, the user base you built will leave.
  2. Although I agree with you, as others pointed, the off topicness of the rant should be addressed in a more appropriate post. The Export UI is also a bit confusing in some regards but the UI problems, and theres a lot of them, either this bully users want to address it or not, I should say there should be a place for it. In this regard, idk if theres a topic about the UI, if not one should be created and this discussion should happen there. If for anything, for a better way to follow a feature progress by the affinity team. As i said in other topic, off topic crap (like calling out users for a missing link when they tell exactly were the quote is from), shouldn't be discussed in a feature topic because it will only lead to the topic itself being archived for lack of direction to a solution.
  3. Reporting back to add, os macOS Sonoma, everything works as expected. I'll test it on windows tonight and edit this post. Also to see if i have the same problem as Frozen Deat Knight.
  4. Don't fight me, but i'm team sketch 😬, to each their own tho :3. And I also would love to see this feature implemented in affinity, since sketch is work payed, and affinity is self payed. And with the assets/symbols that affinity already has, nothing is to say, even if they arent super focused on UI/UX development that such feature couldn't help other users. +1 from me!
  5. Although it relates somewhat to this feature, maybe you should post it in Feedback & suggestions (in the homepage) for more reachability of more users and the team. Ill go there like it immediately!
  6. Actually I had some unexpected behaviours about this feature before, I'll try it in the beta app, and report back. Thanks Affinity team!
  7. You do get that's not how users see it right? (5 pages post... growing...) A user doesn't know that you have most likely your different credentials on different servers and that they dont talk to each other (which to piggy back on your confirmation, they should...). Things should work for users even if that means more work for the backend. And if this is an affinity official forum, off course it should! For a person spending money on software, they should have a non restrictive profile in the same company network which the forum is apart of. Now Patrick already explained me why, and its a reasonable answer (different than yours), althought i would except should be changed because of user experience. Even if they are different machines they should talk to each other, because in that way they would have more control on "troll" agents. If you are a paying customer you shouldnt have restrictions, (althought off course as i said avatars shouldnt have "Free reign", for me they should have a pick a library). If you aren't well restrict away like stackoverflow. But restrict in a visible away for users to understand it. This post shouldn't even exist, the fact that it does explains why its a problem. Not all users all Dr Strange and see every pattern for every website. P.S. If you live in that world where you don't understand why I'm saying maybe don't pitch in?? Basic user customization is a standard pratice, you either offer it or you don't, per the 5 pages of this discussion in this topic alone the user sure doesn't understand why its restricted to apply an avatar, and maybe that either should be more explicit or should be removed. Your level of pettyness is unecessary. P.S2. Ill not answer to replies for the sake of "off-topic"ying""
  8. Ok makes sense, hence, maybe a less customizable more in company control of avatars would made those problems not a problem. I wasnt here for it so seems a reasonable decision, hence my question. Thanks for the...uhmm ultra mega @#$@ fast reply 😅 Im still making default avatars when i have the time. Have a great day and beggining of a new year! P.S. Thnks x) part of it made in affinity software already
  9. Hey @Patrick Connor, I was wondering why paying customers, have to have a certain... ahmmm, requirements to have a lil pic on the forum. Hell im already contributing to the company... Its a lil silly to have on top of it a rep system. Im saying this because yes, im not really that active on the forum, cus well, life ehheh and I dont have much to nag about hihihh But i do occasionally like to give my two cents or upvote peoples suggestions. Im saying its silly because... well, every single site as a avatar function by default even ones made by the company, and since this is a creative company it would be a given to have at least couple of default avatars to choose from. To be totally fair, being a bit imposing, by-default avatars should be the go to because: company control on moderation; low server side storage; quality control... Is there any thing you can say about why this is serifs decision? P.S. Im super inclined now to make default avatars for serif..... 🤔 🤔🙂
  10. Just came here to pitch in... And yes would be greatly appreciated to have an on/off. Im giving you my use case: Im working on designer, doing an expo front and back cards of people with irl measures. So 180cm x 90cm more or less. Dont @ me its a requirement from the photographer of the expo. Im doing 30 of them. I have to save and convert and export from .psd, to tiff doing my own layout in designer. I have a M2 with 24gb of ram. The export preview just stalls the machine (I do full high res renders(3D) in it, its a beast of a machine), i have to wait so i can change my settings (cus i want tiff not png). So for ones working in printing format this isnt really a niche thing, its why people buy the software. Ok most of people arguing do digital work, but some of us also do irl work and why we have the software. So a simple toggle (cus i also use this feature in my web work) would suffice because right now its more than a paper cut, it hinders productivity.
  11. Just a small paper cut but it would be greatly appreciated to have a lil dialog box after exporting to allow us to go to the file location if we choose too. Like in Sketch app (Example below). Nothing too fancy and distracting, it could be even on a timed basis like 5/10s then disappear. Idk if this already exists in someway or planned but its a thing i noticed between using the different software's.
  12. I just want to say, first hi affinity family. I'm a new member! Just gonna give my two cents about this whole drama being outside. It is what it is. I've been following affinity since inception, but never bought it. Even tho i recommend it i wasnt in a position to buy it. Once I saw the re-edit of the apps even tho there wasnt much new new features i knew this only could meant great things are coming. *I hope*. And im taking you on your word @Ash. I bought it after 2hours trying the trials. And since i knew the software i since can say replacing the one that shall not be named is at 95% with 4 features i'll maybe write here in the future that I find extremely lacking for a professional set as my own. (Im a 2D 3D designer, also code and work with tradicional design agencies). So given that. I can tell you guys I maybe the odd one out but I legit use the 3 softwares at work (Win, Mac, iOS) so for me this software at 120€ for 3 diff OS's seams a steal and I feel bad paying so little. So ill be sure to be more supportive in the future. Althought im not an early adopter, and I cant talk about how you *the ones that are complaining the most*, the price of the apps, the license, even if you buy it separate, as no competition whatsoever. So i agree when everyone feels kind of betrayed for the same price for everyone, the lack of communication but this is what serif as to work on: communication. You hear me @Ash ! Tho for me personally seeing many complaining about prices when - however u see it - are super competitive , felt a bit of bad taste. But guess thats the consequence of bad communication and not actions. Cus the software price for function seems fair, even given that minor updates are free. For me personally i'd pay 40, 30 20% at lunch of major revisions without a blink for it and embrace that new users can use our dedication to enter the family. Making this about you *the ones that are complaining the most*, is just selfish... you want a company to thrive not to cater to a niche. Thats my lil rant given all i saw. But feel free to put me in my place. Anyway, hope everyone can at the end of the day, not see it for the money, and see it as new members floading in helping to get more funding to keep this project running. P.S. i for one convinced my boss to buy the whole pack for himself even tho he only gonna use Photo from day to day on a mac.
