cgartists reacted to MEB in Export persona wrong pixel size
    Hi @cgartists,
You are correct. I'm seeing the weird behaviour you're describing which may be related to the origin point (seems you have changed it or started creating new artboards to the top left of the original origin point). I don't have much time now to check this out now but will take a deeper look tomorrow. Seems there's a bug somewhere yes. My apologies.

Regarding you last paragraph, the artboards may be intended for print and use physical dimensions which do not translate to full pixels most of the time.

The main toolbar has a button to Force Pixel Alignment (in the Snapping group) to ensure artboards that use pixels as dimensions are pixel aligned. Note this only applies to objects created after you enable it (it does not "fixes" objects previously created). Also in the same group make sure Move By Whole Pixels is disabled, otherwise artboards that are already located in non-integer pixels positions will keep them part since that button only allows full pixel translations/movements.

    Correct.
With small projects, e.g. A4, the preview appears quickly, while with projects of 8x3 meters, the preview takes a long time to generate and prevents any change of parameters or selection of the format to png, jpg, pdf or other.
I don't understand why Serif is reluctant to put the Preview button... as it is in APhoto version 1.0 for example?
Then I could disable the preview if I didn't need it. The program should remember this state.
So far this whole preview is weak.
It only shows the first page of the project, you cannot select other pages to preview, and there is no way to set the preview to 100% for small projects.
Maybe Serif should see how it is solved, for example in CorelDraw?
Generally, the entire Export panel should be modified, which has already been widely discussed on this forum. (I wonder if Serif will react to this somehow?)
In my opinion, version 2.0 is now worse than version 1.0

I want to add to this - if this feature is in paid 2.0 I am totally OK with that. I will buy it instantly if it will be same price as previous but guys this is 6 years now and while there were cool new features along the way this and image vectorisation is really needed.
So many tutorials how to nicely wrap text in Illustrator and how some things that they do easily is just not possible here - it breaks my heart and I am your fan/evangelist and user since almost beginning I wish you all the luck in bringing this to 1.x lineup or 2.0 paid upgrade but hope it will be sooner than later

Hmmm I must admit I almost stopped using iPad apps - they are fantastic but still I use them mainly for logo concepts as vector drawing app and 99% of work done still on mac. Just so much more comfortable. Can't imagine publisher on iPad - but while I personally don't see the need for it I imagine some people may wait for it. DAM I don't see need for as I never used Bridge in past and all these - I hate apps building their own databases to manage assets because it is very hard to migrate, use on many platforms and too much dependable on one vendo in case of future updates etc. These databases also tend to break and I hate idea of my work being wasted. But that is my personal view.
The mesh wrap is something else in my opinion - it is a lacking feature for people who made the switch and in my opinion this is more of a priority to deliver this so people won't switch back to Adobe. This may also stop people switching to Affinity from what I saw in forums and reviews - this and vectorisation. I personally use vectorisation from image-vectorizer.com app which works very good and extremely fast for mono and allows quick copy paste to Affinity but built-in solution would be better. As for wrap it is something that can be worked around only with very tedious work of hand modifying and result is not good so I more learn to live without it but would much appreciate it. If there was external app similar to this vectoriser but purely for wrap it could be ok but wrap often requires context of the rest of the project so it would be a half-measure.
I just hope they do it - even if it was paid 2.0 - I can't wait I actually would like to pay more to Affinity - bought the books and didn't use them, purchased lots of brushes and these I actually use but if 2.0 comes I will be happy to pay for the whole suite again to support them It is still 1000x fairer than Adobe approach

insightful! It's like Rory Sutherland describes that people are more willing to wait 15 minutes knowing it will be 15 minutes than waiting 5 minutes without knowing He describes it on the example of airlines and DELAYED sign - it would be much better to put DELAYED 50min even if it is delayed only 15min eventually than putting just DELAYED

When will Affinity Designer get an object-distort tool, a perspective tool, a fisheye too or an inset/outset path tool? These are basic features for doing creative work, especially with display text (see attached jpg).

As it is, if I need to do anything like this I have to use free open-source apps like Inkscape or NeoDraw (part of the NeoOffice suite), both of which are harder to use but do way more than Affinity Designer.

    Hi cgartists,

Unfortunately Adobe seem to do some very weird things with their native AI/EPS files. Interestingly this file looks like it was an .EPS file that has been renamed to .AI

When Illustrator saves a .EPS file it actually embeds a copy of the .AI data along with native .EPS data. We can only read the EPS steam of this data and this is what is being displayed. You can see this by renaming the .AI to .EPS and then converting that to PDF in Acrobat - you will get the same low quality preview (see attached image). The preview file is also sharper because its just a picture of the AI data that Adobe have supplied, and hasn't attempted to convert it to correctly EPS.

Its also worth adding that when saved as an actual AI file we can only read the embedded PDF stream of data that gets saved because of the propitiatory format. Because of this and feature differences (no mesh fills for example) the file will not be a 1-to-1 clone of the AI data.

    This feature, yes!
With the recently vastly improved support for Photoshop smart objects, this is the last piece of what's needed for a lot of my workflow - non-destructive mesh warps. The attached .jpeg shows the difference between what photoshop allows me to do in mocking up a label application on a round object (slight curves to follow shape of object) vs what imports into Affinity photo (stretched, flat shape with no curvature distortion unless I first rasterize it).

    Yes, please!
Same goes for the Perspective Tool - or any other tool that transforms, bends, warps, whatever, a bitmap layer.
I was (negatively) surprised recently when I learned that the Perspective Tool is destructive. That does not fit well in the picture, so to speak.
    Thanks!

Thanks, John! That is certainly useful to have in my toolkit!
The request for non-destructive mesh warps is still high on my wishlist - there are so many more instances than could be covered by this (or similar) macros that I still turn to Photoshop to accomplish and the more that I can accomplish in Affinity Photo, the happier I am ☺️

The second line of my sig now shows all my relevant iPad info. Both apps work OK, with or without the Pencil. I would probably see faster response with an iPad Pro model, & I am sure a larger screen than my 9.7" one would be better, but I am more than happy with what the lower priced iPad & the two apps are capable of.

It is something I do every time when I crop image... it seems such a waste of time to have to click it each time. It should either remember last setting or have option in setting to make it default. If there is such option please guide me to it as I wasn't able to find it.
I suppose this should affect crop in general and in Develop persona as well
    Cheers!
