Any fx of the exported object? - for example an outer shadow?, outer glow?...

Having created your seamless tile, export it as an image. Select a shape on the canvas, choose the Fill Tool, go to the Context toolbar and set the type to 'Bitmap'; when you do this, a dialog will pop up so that you can browse to the exported tile image. Use the node handles on the fill to adjust its position, size, shape and rotation as desired.

Have you tried switching “Wet Edges” (on the Context Toolbar) OFF?
If it is OFF, which Brush are you using? (Which brush name, and in which Category, and where you got it from if you installed it yourself.)
