  1. You embarrassed me, I removed the angry cat 😛
  2. And what kind of things happened on Discogs? I have an account there, but I look there rarely, I haven't seen anything.
  3. I noticed that many people write about the fighting with maintaining old programs. They write about compatibility modes, about old systems and even about dedicated machines not maintained for decades! I wonder why nobody uses virtualization? Personally, I have Linux as the main system, but all older programs, as well as Affinity, I run on VMware Workstation, losing capacity maybe 5%. And as the main computer has a strong processor with 24 cores and a lot of RAM, in practice I completely do not feel a slowdown. But the advantage is that such a virtual is portable to a new computer (it's just a few files!) and ready to run immediately. In addition the system, in this virtual machine, can be cut off from the Internet, without anti-virus and updates: fast, clean and safe. It maintains communication with the local network and resources, e.g. with NAS. In this way, you can have any "frozen" application for any long time. Including, for example, the active AD 2.0 license, even when the servers are turned off. I recommend!
  4. A surprisingly interesting thread: https://www.vectorstyler.com/forum/topic/2621/affinity-designer-v2-0
  5. I guess you didn't understand what I wrote. I wrote about development practice, IT projects, technical debt and the darker side of this profession. I did not write about this program and its bugs or features. Don't be blinded by your love for the tool. I don't need to use this program to know what problems such a model involves. I have been a programmer for several decades. And you write from the perspective of a user of the current version. Nothing else.
  6. If Vector Styler is created by only one person, and also a teacher (as someone wrote here earlier), I do not predict a very bright future for this project. As the code base grows, there will be architectural problems, there will be more and more bugs, and it will become more and more difficult to maintain, especially for one person. Eventually the project will get stuck. I've seen this many times. Software engineering is not a trivial thing and professionals have been learning it by decades. Of course, I could be wrong and maybe this programmer is a genius like Linus Torvalds.
  7. Champagne corks are popping at Adobe today.... finally they can raise the subscription price, the only competition is gone!
  8. It's time to make a copy of the available installers, in the next ones maybe they will put "fixes" that will "encourage" a permanent relationship through the wallet. ps. capitalism is the biggest blight.
  9. But you know it's not a real desktop? This is a web application glued to the chrominium engine (from the Chrome browser) and wrapped in a common binary package in one window. This is de facto an additional instance of the browser that eats up a lot of resources for nothing.
  10. I would never have come across that 500w is 500 pixels wide.... is there documentation somewhere for these values? Thanks Garry!
  11. I have a high-resolution image (9000x1000) that contains several independent elements that I want to export as separate files. I use Export Persona, select these areas (slices) and I have a problem, because I need the resulting image to be at a lower resolution than the source, but I have a choice of 1x, 2x, 3x, etc. How to make the resulting image with, for example, 1/3 of the source resolution?
  12. Using a virtual machine is obvious and effective, but it has downsides: - you need an additional windows license - the machine takes up a lot of host resources - the software runs a bit slower and sometimes this is noticeable That's why it's worth struggling to run effectively in Wine.
  13. I used Bootles for version 1, the screenshot shows it, now I am writing about version 2, here it is impossible to use Bottles
  14. Hello, I managed to fire up AD 1.0 on Ubuntu (under wine) after several hours of struggle. However, I can't run the version 2.0 installer for the hell of it. It's a file with .msix extension, does anyone know how to install it under Bootles?
