  1. Affinity does not start any more! I click on the icon and nothing happens. I'll start from scratch, with 2.0.
  2. H E L P ! The recent update to 2.4.1 broke Affinity Photo on my PC. How can I go back to 2.4.0?
  3. Sounds interesting, I'll give that a try, thanks, Paul
  4. Hello Ash, I hope you and the staff of Affinity, made out well in the sell-out. I fear your customers will not! After reading about the Canva takeover, I went to the Canva website to see their product offerings. I just tried a Canva product and it did not work correctly. Then I found, there was no way to contact Canva Customer Support to tell them of the problem with their product. As you know, Affinity (Serif) has an email address that customers or potential customer can contact when they have a question or have an issue. Not so with Canva, they obviously don't care. There was a way to contact Sales, so I tried that approach. After filling in all the information, and going through all the Captcha screens, I received a message saying there was an error in the submission. I tried again, with no luck. This does not give me a good feeling about the future of Affinity products! I refer you to Pledge Item 4 - How can you be "committed to listening and being led by the design community" if there is no way to contact Customer Support? Paul A. Teseny
  5. Hi, I'm not sure if this suggestion is even possible to implement in photo, but here goes. In the Develop Persona, we can implement a graduated ND filter by selecting Overlay and then selecting the Gradient tool and then making adjustments. It might be useful if we could draw a freehand line for where the gradient starts/ends. For example, on a photo with sky and mountains, we could have the gradient follow the shape of the mountain and apply the gradient adjustment only to the sky. There may be a way to do this already, however, I have not found it, so, suggestions are welcome. I also wish my rectangular filters would do this also when I take photos. However it might be easier to implement in software than in glass! Thanks for listening, Paul
  6. Hi all, It has taken a while but I did everything that was suggested and Affinity Photo is stable now. Thanks for your suggestions. Paul
  7. Thank you everyone that replied. I am trying everything that was suggested. Paul
  8. So, I downloaded and installed the latest .net framework as suggested above. When I double clicked on a .Tiff file, Photo opened then disappeared (crashed?). Here's the Crash Reports from the crash today and two from yesterday. This is getting quite annoying! 16738cdc-8773-4840-a0e5-d6fcdd64bc7e.dmp c7f3b61c-8ad3-4e22-8a6f-72059be6758f.dmp bb909621-437f-4121-ba99-fa35abf4b577.dmp
  9. Here you go Otto, I hope this makes sense to you. Two crashes 8 minutes apart, and no changes saved in the auto backup. 10. Hello All, Affinity Photo crashing is really becoming a serious problem. Affinity photo often crashes (simply disappears) while I am editing images. I was editing several photos yesterday Photo crashed several times during each editing session. After each crash, I restarted the program and the message box opened which said there was a backup available, however there were no changes in the backup, it was the same as the original file I started with. I had previously decreased the File Recovery Interval to 120 seconds, but it still doesn't save anything worthwhile. I was making various changes to the images, in one case I was carefully outlining an object using the Selection Brush tool, making a lot of fine adjustments. I am using Affinity Photo 2.3.1 and working with Tiff files from OM Workspace. The PC is an Acer Nitro17-51 running Windows 11 vers. 22H2. The processor is a 13th Gen Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-13700H @ 2.40 GHz. The PC has 16 MB RAM and I have Affinity Usage Limit set to 14366 MB. The Video card is a GeForce RTX 4060 Laptop GPU with 8 GB RAM. I always run Affinity Photo without any other applications open, just to make sure, that's not causing the problem. I also tried running the PC in Performance Mode which increases CPU and GPU speed, but this does not help either. Please help!
  11. I recently bought a new PC and Affinity Photo keeps crashing. It might also be the latest update to version 2.1.0 that's causing the problem. This morning I opened a .jpg file, switched to the Develop Persona, clicked on the White Balance Tool, clicked on the image, and the program disappeared (crashed). I have been experiencing Affinity Photo crashing rather often and with no particular pattern of operations. Windows 11 Home, Version 22H2 64-bit operating system OS build: 22621.1848 Installed on: ‎4/‎30/‎2023 13th Gen Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-13700H 2.40 GHz 16.0 GB (15.7 GB usable) Installed RAM 1 TB Samsung Solid State Drive NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4060 Laptop GPU with 8 GB video memory No pen or touch input is used.
  12. Hi, I'm new to Affinity Photo and I really love the way it works. I have a suggestion to slightly improve the software. When opening an image file in Affinity photo a small message appears in the upper right corner of the Main Screen. It might be better to also show a progress bar or wheel, so we know that something is actually happening and how close to the end the progress is approaching. Thanks, Paul
  13. Hi All, The Affinity Photo program is located inside a hidden folder (WindowsApps) in the path C:\Windows\Program Files\ Inside this hidden folder is a folder: SerifEuropeLtd.AffinityPhoto2_2.0.3.1685_x64__3cqzy0nppv2rt (depending on the version, the name may be slightly different). Inside this folder is the App folder and inside that folder is the Photo.exe file. I made a shortcut to Photo.exe and placed it on my desktop. You can drag a photo into this icon and it will open the program with the photo loaded. I was also able to set "Run as Administrator" in this shortcut. While this seems to work, someone from Affinity should verify this is an appropriate method to open the program and this does not bypass something important. Hope this helps. Paul
  14. Sorry, I mis-understood hat you were trying to do. I had the Affinity Photo open and dragged an image into the open program window. That worked fine. I just put a shortcut to Affinity Photo on my desktop, and cannot drag an image into the Icon. I also cannot set "Run as Administrator" in that shortcut. It may have something to do with the fact that the Afinity Photo is an App not an Executable file.
  15. I just tried this and it works fine in Affinity Photo Ver 2.03. I updated Affinity Photo yesterday and Windows last night. Edition Windows 10 Home Version 22H2 Installed on ‎8/‎21/‎2020 OS build 19045.2364 Experience Windows Feature Experience Pack 120.2212.4190.0
  16. Hi Everyone, I'm new to the Affinity forum. I just purchased Affinity photo yesterday after trying it for 5 days. I'm impressed that the program worked on my old (2017) PC laptop. I've been spending a lot of time this week watching all the available tutorials on this product. I made this image after watching one of the videos.
  17. Thanks for getting back so quickly, The processor is an Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-6200U CPU @ 2.30GHz 2.40 GHz with 5.9 GB of shared RAM and 12 GB total RAM. Developed a couple of images and did some adjustments in the Photo Persona while watching a training video on-line. Affinity Photo works flawlessly! The size of the RAW files from my Olympus E-M1 Mk II are only 20 MB. Any idea how long the 40% discount will be available? Paul
  18. Hello, I'm new to Affinity Photo and just downloaded the trial version. The demo loaded and runs just fine in my old (2017) laptop. The graphics card is a basic Intel Graphics 520 integrated on the motherboard. The requirements for Affinity Photo is a Direct3D level 12.0-capable card. I'm sure my video card is not Direct3D but it is DirectX version 12 (FL 12.1). Is this a problem? Everything seems to be working just fine! Thanks for your help, Paul
