I have fiddled with both brightness and contrast on my monitor, no matter the setting, all I see is white. The checkerboard briefly & lightly shows up when I try to catch a snip of it, but then goes right back to white.

I'm having the same problem & its driving me nuts! Tried checking and unchecking the transparentcy box, no change. Played with contrast and britness on my monitor no change! How the heck do I get a transparent backbround. It shows transparent in the little layers box, but on ALL the documents it stays white no matter what I do. Makes it REALLY hard to see what you are doing!

I have several drives (6 plus 2 external) with different folders in a manner to suit me.
The thread is people not happy that it is an app but the app works the same as it would a standard program. People want the icons on the desktop, that takes seconds to do. I have integrated it with Faststone & Photo Supreme. It also works with Blender and probably many other till Serif get a better fix. It can be moved to a different drive if space is limited. In my case I use both Photo & now Designer integrated with my animation program Crazytalk Animator for creating characters, scenes and props. Without an .exe file to point to they won't open from there & certainly won't integrate between the two like V1. I have already asked for a refund & will continue with V1. Hopefully they resolve this, but I'm gonna start shopping for another image and vector editor. Just in case.

This is a BIG problem for me as I run Affinity apps with Cartoon Animator 5...well I USED TO
I've changed permissions, I've tinkered with stuff I usually don't like to mess with. I bought Affinity Apps to AVOID this garbage with Adobe, now you go and do this!
Please fix it!

OK, I finally figured it out. Once I looked at it on my tablet. It was the settings in my Nvidia card. So, just to be safe, I re-calibrated both monitors.
Thanks for pushing me to keep checking. New settings are also easier on my eyes. 😃
