Hi Ivo, bis zur Bereitstellung des "normalen" Installers belasse ich das bei mir so. Die Lösung mit der Batch-Datei funktioniert natürlich auch ... Irgendjemand von Serif hatte noch darauf hingewiesen, dass das von offizieller Seite nicht unterstützt sei. Naja, wegen meiner auch ohne offiziellen Segen ... bei mir habe ich bisher keine Einschränkungen festgestellt, ich nutze allerdings von Serif auch ausschließlich Photo! Viele Grüße Ludger

Hi Patrick, could you please clearify whether the approach of just extracting the affinity-photo-2.0.0.msix to a folder of choice and after that just running photo.exe in the App subfolder is a valid solution in you eyes??? Are the any drawbacks doing so? In my option the solution with the batch starter is more complicated for people who are not so familiar with it and some application (like DXO Photo Lab) don't allow bat-files to be selected out of the box for exporting... vllt. machen wir auf Englisch weiter, das wird von mehr Leuten verstanden ... Up to now the approach of just unzipping the *.msix installer to a directory of my choise works fine!!! I agree to you Aktive Pupille and doubt as well that a future automatic update will work. But that is acceptable for me ... To extract a *.msix to a folder only takes a short time. Hallo Wolfgang, ich habe die Windows-Apps bislang immer erfolgreich gemieden ... Ich hatte mit der Installation als App zunächst auch so meine Zeit gebraucht, um überhaupt einen Link auf dem Desktop anzulegen. Danach war der Workaround mit dem Batch-Starter ein erster Schritt, um Photo 2 aus anderen Applikationen heraus aufzurufen. Die Lösung mit dem Entpacken in ein beliebiges Verzeichnis, ist für mich allerdings fast ideal: * ich kann selbst bestimmen, wo die Software liegt * der Aufruf aus anderen Programmen ist problemlos * ich brauche keine Starter-Batch * ich kann einfach eine Verknüpfung erstellen * ... Ich hoffe es stellen sich nicht doch noch Defizite beim diesem Ansatz heraus ... Nichtsdestotrotz sollte Serif natürlich was ändern ... aber ob da was passiert?!?!? Gruß Ludger

Hallo Wolfgang_AP, ich habe es jetzt noch einmal komplett durchgespielt, die Installations-Datei in ein beliebiges Verzeichnis zu entpacken. Das scheint zu funktionieren!!! Also: Ich habe auf Laufwerk C einen Ordner PortableApps ... dort habe ich ein Verzeichnis AffinityPhoto2 angelegt und dorthinein die Installationsdatei affinity-photo-2.0.0.msix kopiert. Diese habe ich dann dort per 7zip entpackt. Danach findet man dort ein Unterverzeichnis App und dort eine ausführbare Datei photo.exe. Diese kannst Du starten oder Dir darauf eine Verknüpfung erstellen oder was auch immer Du brauchst. Die "normale" Installation von Photo 2 in Windows Apps-Verzeichnis habe ich deinstalliert (PC-Einstellungen|Apps). Bisher schein das gut zu funktionieren. Gruß Ludger

Hi krbo, your approach works ... msi and msix-files are ordinary archives. You don't even have to rename those files to *.zip to unzip them when you use 7zip. After installing Photo2 the "regular" way as an app and registering it and then in addition unpacking the msix to a folder and executing photo.exe, I'm prompted to register for a second time. I'm in doubt what that effects when I do so???!??! I also doubt that the update process will work automaticly when proceeding this way. But that's a minor thing. So far the workaround with a Batch-Starter works for me as a workaround as well. Even DXO now accepts a *.bat starter for exporting to Photo 2 ... But what a crap ... until now I prefered Affinity Photo so much over Photoshop and don't want to switch back. Hope the people at Serif learn their lesson from this discussion! Cheers Ludger

... just to document ... I also use DXO and can't find a way of exporting to Affinity Photo2. Hope this will be fixed soon. Until then I will continue the use of Affinity Photo V1 ... Cheers Ludger

Thanks Walt!!! Of cause the solution with a Starter-Batch works. But as already discussed in "Not able to start Affinity Photo 2 from DxO, XNViewMP, ART and Raw Therapee" I work with DXO that only allows .exe files. I hope this can and will be fixed very soon!! Cheers Ludger

It's very annoying that it is not possible to install to a drive or path of my choice. Why did Serif provide Affinity Photo 2 as a MSIX package????? After a while I figuered out that Affinity Photo 2 is installed in C:\Users\Admin\AppData\Local\Microsoft\WindowsApps and I was able to create a link on my desktop ... But up to now I didn't find a way to call Photo 2 from another program with a photo-file as a parameter (like [path]\AffinityPhoto2.exe %). This is essential for my workflow!!! Can anybody help???!!!
