  1. On RTL text, I seem to have read somewhere that there are no plans to ever include that functionality. Which is very displeasing to me as I could use it. But I'd be interested in a confirmation or rebuttal... Edit to answer my own question: I searched the forum and it looks like the Serif staff is interested in RTL, but I see no timeline. Also it looks like the app RTL fixer (https://rtlfixer.com ) might be a more timely solution.
  2. This thread has so much information in it that can help Serif improve V2. Thanks @Gary.JONES for your original list of issues.
  3. Serif did provide a rundown of the main new features in all of the apps, in the below thread in the News section. https://forum.affinity.serif.com/index.php?/topic/170152-affinity-version-2-sets-new-standards-in-creative-software/ There have been issues with this launch, but I'm not sure that I would say that there are not many new features--especially given the power of the new features.
  4. Well, I guess saying we love the interface is avoiding the question--it doesn't engage meaningfully with the points raised, it just dismisses them as a whole. It does provide information when you to say that, but addressing the points is really the point. I personally have not yet installed v2, so I'm not defending or criticising. I'm just suggesting that to be helpful we have to consider the points that Gary raises. For example, he mentions that the new icons look like something from a GameBoy app designed for 8-year olds--oh, ok, maybe I will install it then.
  5. If you meant what you wrote, you don't need to upgrade. And updates (as in bug fixes) will be forthcoming for free. But I think you mean that you don't understand how you can upgrade from v1 to version 2. You cannot. You can only buy version 2 outright. Hope that helps.
  6. No, sorry, I didn't mean that you had hijacked it. I meant that if we went into a huge thread about how it's good or bad, that would have hijacked the thread. I already saw two threads about it. I think both mentioned "upgrade" in the title. I can add: I saw those threads in the feedback section, rather than support... https://forum.affinity.serif.com/index.php?/forum/122-feedback-for-the-affinity-v2-suite-of-products/
  7. Nah, they aren't doing an upgrade. Everyone has access to the same price for a limited time. There are debates on the forum about it that you could jump into if you like, rather than hijacking this thread for it.
  8. As someone who developed in .NET for several years, the workaround by lacerto looks like a minor change with no downsides as long as it's applied just as described.
  9. I expect this info is out there but haven't found it yet... Can we install both V1 and V2 suites on the same machine under the same login, and expect them to run? (For those of use who already own v1.) Can we run the two suites simultaneously? For example, V1 and V2 photo at the same time? I'm asking with Windows 10+ and MacOS in mind. Haven't used on iOS but, would be interested in hearing about that as well. As to "why?", to allow for bug fixes, time to adapt to the new suite, and the ability to collaborate seamlessly with users who have not yet upgraded to V2 (since V1 cannot open V2 files). I see in the FAQs that StudioLink will not work across the two versions, but that's not exactly the same question.
  10. Ah. Thanks. Sounds like they considered it and didn't know how to make it happen.
  11. I'm not here to argue, just to give another viewpoint. The 40% discount is for everyone so no, it's not enough. If you gave a 20% discount to new purchasers and 40% to existing customers, that would be enough. It's not the discount, it's the distinction between new and existing users. I receive a lot of email. Let's remember we are united in our love for the Affinity suite!
  12. I'll give a +1 to Carca's original question. I don't feel cheated or defrauded, but... I would guess that most of the Affinity users are not active on the forum, and didn't know the pricing would not include an additional upgrade discount. The software is great, and we recommend it to others. I for one have seen enough of the competition through the years, and I am thankful for this alternative. But that doesn't mean that everything the Serif team does is perfection. Serif is bucking the current subscription trend by following an older tradition: a set product price and no subscriptions. That's great. But that tradition also includes an additional "upgrade" discount to those who have already supported software development all along the way. I feel that it's a worthy tradition and that it encourages customer loyalty. Again, the upgrade discount is for those who have supported the software development all along the way. In my own case, I have spent $120 on software, $120 on "workbooks" (which I really need as PDFs, by the way), plus some additional brushes. How will I continue to support the software development? I expect to buy the new versions of the software, and whatever new workbooks come along for it. Why will I do this? To continue to support the Affinity team. The upgrade discount is one way they can say thank you through the pricing. It's not a new idea.
