  1. That’s great advice…assuming I want to buy and license a single family from the typeface with predetermined weights and intensity. Then, you’re ignoring the strength and the whole point of variable fonts. The variable bundle that includes everything is 199€ in total, whereas the 3 families cost 119€ each and totaling to 357€. I don’t know about you, but I don’t wanna pay 375€-(the valuable variable font benefits) instead of 199€+(the valuable variable font benefits)
  2. if Google Fonts can provide me with a typeface like this, your statement would have value. https://www.nikolastype.com/fonts/solare/
  3. I get that, Thomas. Even the simplest things are often significantly more complex than we think. Honestly, I’d rather see R&D budget prioritized for something important that has no workarounds like variable fonts instead of it going to on a tool like vector tracing that we can workaround doing by hand.
  4. Like most here, I agree. +1 vote from me. I’ve seen so many variable fonts I want to buy licensing for but thankfully I checked if Affinity supports them or not before proceeding with the purchase. Variable font support needs to be there on both desktop and mobile platforms. It’s not like it’s an unavailable tool that I can find workarounds for. The use of these fonts can help in making our careers. For example, I find it quite unfortunate that I can’t use this beautiful variable font in any of my projects: https://www.nikolastype.com/fonts/solare/
  5. Hi, Dan. I already bought the entire Affinity 2.0 suite on launch day for my 2020 iPad Pro 12.9 with 6GB RAM and A12Z chipset. Was asking that because I’m considering upgrading to the most powerful iPad Pro model there is which has 16GB RAM at max, or go for a MacBook Pro. One last question which isn’t related to topic I discussed but definitely related to a hardware feature. Is Apple Pencil Hover supported on 2.0 yet?
  6. Hi, hope everyone is doing well. I have a question regarding what kind of performance would I get with the Affinity 2.0 apps if I purchased an M2 iPad Pro with the maxed out 16GB RAM. Are the Affinity 2.0 apps optimized to utilize the full power of M2 and the max 16GB RAM? And please, it would be lovely if I can get the RAM size or portion that each Designer, Photo, and Puplisher occupy when started with 1 empty layer or blank canvas.
  7. @TonyOThank you for leading the "Bring Back the Delete Button" delegation 👋.
  8. @MEBThank you! The swipe up to delete only made it a little easier, but then you have the issue of accidentally taking a screenshot which I experienced a lot because of the swipe-up delete gesture and the X/deselect button location near the corner of the iPad screen. Glad to hear that. Will the next patch fix the crashing problems?
  9. It’s better than nothing, but I have to say the new swipe-up solution is not ideal. Why complicate things when you can just bring it back to its original place as a separate button. And on another note, I just wish the UI stayed the same. New UI is fine but what bothers me is that it’s not clearly defined and intuitive anymore. Like for example in the FX layers, I get that I can toggle the icons under the sliders to switch between types of FX settings but the lack of naming just stagnates my mind. While in the older version, sliders are named and are highly convenient to use. Highlighted in red rectangles to show the difference.
  10. I agree with most. The trash/bin button located at the bottom left corner in Designer 1 was conveniently useful and MUST make a comeback in the next 2.1 update. It allows the immediacy of deleting shapes, lines, images, layers with a single click without going through hoops like menu toggling, tap/hold, or 3-finger swipe down.
  11. It’s not. I can do this and just did this on Designer 1 without any issues. Snapping works perfectly in the older app.
  12. Hello. First of all, I can’t say enough how excited I am and grateful for the new tools like the shape builder, knife tool, vector warp…etc. So, thank you Serif for listening to us and delivering those much appreciated brand-new goodies 👋. Here are some of the few bugs(?) that I found using the app these past couple of days. 1-Snapping works to a point where it stops. Say for example when duplicating a group of squares, they don’t snap with the original group. 2-When changing fonts through the typography panel, the name of the font converts from English to what I assume is Mandarin.
  13. Signed up to the forum so I can voice my frustration. 2022 and still having issues with isometric and triangular grids snapping poorly on my 2020 iPad Pro 12.9. Grids are a crucial part of a designer’s tools and workflow and they open doors to designing complex patterns and graphics which are things I really Really REALLY wanna do. How is this still not fixed is beyond me. Starting to feel like I made a bad investment in both money and time on this app. I bought graphic design courses where I want to apply the knowledge I learned with the help of grids and I can’t do because of these issues. Really frustrated.
