  1. I think the question is centered around legal use of V2, not technical. I have the same question. Do we have the "right" to use V1 alongside V2 if we choose the upgrade-to-V2-from-V1 offer? This would result in having two copies of Affinity, one V1 and one V2, which is good deal if allowed. And since the offer states: "Upgrade discount for V1 users", the question remains because, usually, when you upgrade to a new version, you only have one copy at the end, here your V1 would transform into a V2 and that's it. Only one copy at the end. It would be nice if an Affinity representative could give a clear cut answer. Thank you.
  2. I'm surprised it is still not implemented in V2, considering that a third of the world population uses RTL.
  3. Yes, it ended up being accepted with no known reason. I guess it just was amazon's servers being down or so.
  4. Hi, It's a big problem because the inner margin isn't swapped alternatively, and it requires a lot of manual adjustments. Can we have publisher do this automatically? Thank you.
  5. Thank you BofG ! Best advice ever! Makes a lot of sense. I'll try that. Have a nice day
  6. Hi all, So I try to upload a comic book. I'm sure I have everything done right: document size to margins, bleed, export options, etc. But it says "Failed manuscript upload", and it fails in less than a minute, it it seems doesn't even upload it completely. Are there some special requirements for a comic book/graphic novel ? I tried to rasterize everything (is that flattened pdf btw?), and it also fails. I don't have page numbers written directly on each pages, could it be the issue? If yes, where do I put them? Is it ok in the margins? Thank you for helping. I seriously have no idea what to do.
  7. Hi, I hope you are doing well, I would have a question, what if an illustrated book a number of pages which makes it impossible to get at a 650mb pdf size. You can only reduce dpi/quality so far until it becomes unacceptable. Isn't there another option for illustrated, graphic novels, etc?
  8. Sure Note: I recreated and it does it all the time actually mask_opcity_test.afpub
  9. Here is an example note: it doesn't matter which brush I choose, even the basic ones have this problem. And I try to do dozens of strokes at the same spot, there is a limit, it can't get more transparent than that. That's really a concern.
  10. Thanks for your answer. I forgot to mention that this one was also at 100%
  11. Ok, so I wanted to follow on with a related point, which is that, sometimes, or many times, the mask won't be 100% opaque/transparent. The brush settings opacity, flow, hardness are all 100%, no wet edges, layer and brush modes set to normal, still we can see a little of the masked area (maybe 10%) It happens a lot, I'm just fighting with it right now. There is absolutely no explanation I can give. Do you have an idea? Thank you.
  12. Oh man! Sorry for this one It was actually set to multiply. Thank you for pointing this out.
  13. I know, What I meant is that sometimes, I would conceal with black and, when I try to reveal back with white it doesn't work, and if I switch the color to black, I can conceal again (??)
  14. Just to reboot this thread by saying that I have similar issues and it's driving me nuts. Today, I couldn't paint the mask in white, I could mask out by painting black, but not white. I set all brush colors to white (FG and BG), no selection, not preserve alpha, brush at 100%.
  15. Thx for your insight! I think I'm beginning to wrap my head around a little bit
  16. Ok, I read the first article, it was very informative. Thx for that one. And what I understand is that KDP may more likely accept a document without bleed metadata, but the raw size of the document actually contains bleed. So I will try to make the bleed manually (set to 0 in publisher), by setting the document size to the perfect dimensions of the KDP template. width: 8.6735" (17.347" divided by 2) height: 11.25" margins: 0.375" for all 3 edges, 0.625" for gutter (Not sure about the gutter margin size for a book of 45 sheets though (45 recto-verso pages)) There will be no bleed metadata as mentioned.
  17. First of all, thank you both for your help, it's much appreciated. thomaso: yes it KDP template is an image file with a certain aspect ratio and some rasterized text. I checked and it's not deformed as it was scaled proportionally all the time. I checked the dimensions of the KDP template, and, when I set the publisher document with the same dimensions, it still won't match when I scale it up to the bleed edges of publisher. KDP template matches when I scale it inside the document itself. I didn't upload to KDP yet. Thx for the links, I'll check that! lacerto: Actually that doesn't make any difference, whether I set the document size with or without adding manually the bleed to it. (8.625x11.25) vs (8.5x11) are the same = the KDP template doesn't match vertically when I try to scale it up to the edges of the bleed inside publisher. It only fits inside the document itself when I set the document to the KDP template size and without bleed. I read from amazon that "If you want your images to bleed to the edges of your pages, extend them" So the real question would be: - Does the document size has to be set with the bleed manually added (no actual bleed option enabled by publisher = bleed set to 0)? - Or do we let publisher add the bleed on top of the base 8.5x11 size? - Then which bleed size in order to have the correct proportions? - Do we scale the KDP template all the way to the edges of the publisher bleed (i.e it gets outside the actual document)? - Also, isn't the KDP template only for the cover (as it mentioned on it?), here I'm only trying to get the interior right. That's very confusing to say the least Thank you again guys, you are very helpful
  18. Hi all, It's a 8.5"x11" book of 43 pages with bleed, KDP says it must have the final page dimension of 8.625"x11.25" - margin of 0.375" - Bleed of 0.125" (0" for the inner) I followed every instruction. But I can't get the document size to match the KDP template. There is a gap at the top and bottom in the bleed area. Smaller if I fit the KDP template inside the document itself (quite confusing about the bleed area of Publisher btw) Can you help please? It is quite frustrating. Thank you.
