I'm at my wits end with this -- I've searched the forums, read and used any suggestions I've found, and yet, I cannot get this to print consistently in the orientation that I want, or that Automatic shows. I've found that it USUALLY prints in the orientation that Automatic displays, so I tend to use that so that I'm not fighting the software. I've got Affinity Designer 1.10.5 on MacOS with a Canon Pixma ix6820.
I mainly do 5" x 7" prints and greeting cards on 8.5" x 4.5" scored paper. Every file is in landscape, all with the same settings. Yet it's a guessing game of how it'll come out each time. Just now, I printed a greeting card. The file is set to landscape, 8.5" x 4.5", I check the preview -- all good, I put click Automatic, it changes it to portrait. Fine, I change the paper orientation, hit print, and it prints landscape. Ruins the card. I change the paper orientation again, it still shows portrait, but prints landscape.
Then I do a 5" x 7" -- file is landscape, 5" x 7", preview shows landscape. I click Automatic and it changes to portrait. I've just gone through this with the greeting card, so I leave it as is. It prints portrait, ruins the print. Change the paper orientation, it shows portrait and prints portrait.
I'm irritated that it won't always print landscape, but at this point, I just want a way to know exactly how it'll print so I can put the paper in and it'll come out correct. I've wasted so much paper that it's upsetting.
