Never done this, but i think this is possible with a procedural texture.

If I understand you correctly
1. Select the Mask layer
2. In Channels panel, right-click Mask Alpha
3. Select Create Greyscale Layer

No, just that category shown in your screenshot
Click on the hamburger menu in your screenshot and select delete category
Please ensure you have your assets backed up, just in case something goes wrong

Just for info
On Windows you can open jpg (etc) files in the Photo persona and they will open as a new document in Publisher

You can also assign shortcuts to Show Left Studio and Show Right Studio

No, but you can create Studio Presets with different combinations and configurations of Studio panels, and switch between them using keyboard shortcuts. See the application Help for more info, e.g. near the bottom of https://affinity.help/photo/en-US.lproj/pages/Workspace/customizingWorkspace.html

The PNG file (cake) has partially-transparent pixels in it
If you remove the FX, rasterise the layer then...
Select > Alpha Range > Select Partially Transparent
You will see them
Adding a FX Outline to these semi-transparent pixels will produce the dots you are seeing (this is normal)

That document has been cropped (non-destructively)- resizing the canvas just reveals a little bit more of the cropped document.
First, right-click the layer in the Layers panel and select Rasterise & Trim
Then perform the steps in your screenshots and it should work OK

The above only works if you have the pages icons set to medium or large (hamburger menu).
For some reason if set to small icons they do not flow across the page

You can enlarge the pages panel to make it easier to select multiple pages

And untick Hardware Acceleration if it's currently enabled
Restart Affinity and see if that works
If not...
Go back to the same screen above and switch Renderer to Warp
Restart Affinity and see if that works
If it does let us know what Renderer was set to before you changed it
