carl123 got a reaction from Gabe in Great mask but when I invert the mask it is terrible
Select > Alpha Range > Select Fully Transparent
Select > Alpha Range > Select Partially Transparent
Will select transparent pixels
If that does not help you, you may have to upload the project file to get more advice

carl123 got a reaction from davemac2015 in Pixel selection/marquee from centre point
Draw 3 guidelines as shown below, 1 vertical on the centre line of the watch and 2 horizontal lines at the points where you want your cut out to be.
Select the round (ellipse) marquee tool, hold shift key down and starting at point A (below) drag to the left and downwards simultaneously until the marquee snaps to the bottom horizontal guide (if snapping is switched on)
Then use the right arrow key to slide the marquee selection over the face of the watch.
PS You don't really need the vertical guideline, just create your round selection between the 2 horizontal guidelines and slide it across. I just added it to show where, vertically, to start drawing the marquee from.

I think GabrielM meant for you to check the upper layers Opacity is 100% not the lower one

carl123 got a reaction from toltec in How to extract/separate a mask from an adjustment layer?
Not sure exactly why you want to do it this way but try this....
Select your black and white adjustment layer in the Layers panel
Click on the Channels panel
You should see an item called Black & White Adjustment Alpha
Right click on that and select Create Mask Layer
A new Mask Layer is created which you can use to mask other adjustment layers

carl123 reacted to predick in Do Stroke pressure not works with vector brush?
Thank you carl123 , it's my fault, my controller was set 'None'.
Now it works, I will try to test on my iPad Pro later.

carl123 got a reaction from predick in Do Stroke pressure not works with vector brush?
Works fine for me on Windows desktop
Just make sure the Controller dropdown setting in the context toolbar is set to pressure

carl123 got a reaction from Alfred in Starburst brush
Unless you particularly want to create your own, here is a link to some Photoshop Star Brushes that import directly in Affinity Photo

The download link is near the top right-hand side of the page

carl123 got a reaction from Alfred in Silent Install for Version 1.6.xxx
I have it installed on 4 PCs (all of which I own) and the old installer took 8 clicks from start to finish until it did it's stuff.
When testing the latest betas on those 4 PC it's a pain in the neck having to update them all, especially when you have multiple affinity products
Silent install parameters would help a lot for keeping everything up to date easily.
Serif does appear to be a tad too insensitive/misunderstanding of its end-user needs at time

@Polygonius
After you crop the document, Rasterise the Layer then the Inpainting will work correctly

carl123 got a reaction from creativevision in Collage Mask
Not sure I completely understand that part above, unless you mean the stroke colour of the ovals
But see if the attached helps in anyway

You can export the required gallery items from DrawPlus as PNG files then add them to the Assets in AD so you can use them in other documents

carl123 got a reaction from Kal in Alignment of centred text doesn't match centre of object
I assume you are using Artistic text in your example. Frame text appears to work as you would expect it to.
Try this using Artistic text in a new document
Write the number zero (left aligned) and set the x position value to 200
Overtype the zero with the number 1 and the x position changes
With Frame text the x position stays the same
Why?
I have no idea but it may be related.

carl123 reacted to Kal in Alignment of centred text doesn't match centre of object
This odd behaviour is a little difficult to describe in words, but is easily seen by following these steps:
Draw a symmetrical shape (say a circle) and elsewhere, type a symmetrical character (say the number zero). Select the text character and set the paragraph alignment to 'Centre Align'. Select both objects and align their centres using the 'Align Horizontally > Align Centre' option from the toolbar. Now, select the text character and change it to an asymmetrical character (say the number one). Repeat step 3, and observe that one of the two objects moves slightly. The movement, observed in step 5, should not happen, because the two objects were already centred, and the text itself was also centred. This suggests that the centre of the text does not properly align with the centre of its containing object. I would consider this unexpected and undesirable behaviour.

carl123 got a reaction from Roger C in Replace low-res images with high-res images while maintaining all masks, adjustments, etc.?
Can't you just resize your 1800 x 1200 px document to 5400 x 3600 px and the masks will resize accordingly
Then replace your image in that document
Don't have the time/inclination to test this but it is what I would try first

carl123 got a reaction from AffinityJules in What's a good mouse to use with Designer?
No, the ears are just decorative.
From the manual:
"Tap once on the mouse's head for a single left-click, tap twice for a double left-click, your mouse will respond by tapping the desk (or mouse mat) the appropriate number of times with his nose. Squeeze mouse on right-hand side for a right-click. On advanced models a squeeze on the left-hand side with your thumb will functions as a third (programmable) mouse button.
If your mouse fails to register any of your movements please ensure batteries are fully inserted and the correct way round. If your mouse is sluggish in it's response to your commands a small piece of cheese should cure this."

It is just me that prefers the real thing?
Admittedly their noses wear down after repeating clicking and replacing the batteries is a bit yucky but they are incredibly cheap mice to buy plus they are lovely and warm in winter.

carl123 got a reaction from Alfred in Affinity Designer Customer Beta - 1.6.5.112
So what do you do when the released version constantly crashes on your PC but the latest beta version contains the bug fixes that cures that?
Does one just stop doing any production work until the beta fixes make it into the next released version?
