carl123 got a reaction from vwatson in Crop AND resize in same operation
Do this all the time - crop in Photoshop and then save for web
2 things I do all the time that just aren't practical in AP when you are in a hurry

After you select "texture line style" go to the brushes panel and select a brush style (textured or otherwise) and your stroke will change to be that style

carl123 got a reaction from Aammppaa in A few questions
I remember the days when people could still do mental arithmetic in their heads
But if you want to make it even easier the Guides manager also supports expressions for field input so you can use mid(point) or average to get the same result
mid(18,85)
average(18,85)

carl123 reacted to Aammppaa in A few questions
The workaround is to draw a rectangle between the existing guides (which will snap), then add the new guide (which will now snap to the center of the rectangle), and finally delete the rectangle.
If you use the Guides Manager as @Carl123 suggested you can get Affinity to do the maths for you.

carl123 got a reaction from Mithferion in [ADe] Book Cover - The War Of The Worlds
Sorry but if you had not wrote the words "War of the Worlds" on your image I would not have had a clue what it was supposed to illustrate.
War of the Worlds (the original) was a classic . There is so much uniqueness and imagery now associated with it that any new attempt of a book cover should be instantly recognisable as War of the Worlds. Forget the book and it's description of the spaceships, death rays and aliens most people will remember the film version of the book and will base their perceptions/expectations on that.
Currently your book cover could have been anything Alien related.

carl123 got a reaction from Alfred in Feature request : crop by bounding box
Don't use the Slice Tool for this
Go into the Export Persona, click on Layers, select all layers at once and hit the create slice button, then into the Slices Tab and click on Export Slices button
Takes about 10 seconds.

@Wosven
I don't speak French(?) but I think the OP's screenshot shows a Pixel layer, would Merge Down not work as described on a Pixel Layer?

carl123 reacted to Sean P in [AD win] Wordwrapped lines don't respect set leading
Thanks for the document - after looking at it I can see that your document has been created rather weirdly.
You've added a new paragraph at the end of every line. This means that your 'leading' is actually a leading value of 7.7pt plus an additional 1.5pt spacing from the Space Before Paragraph attribute. So in your video when you type it wraps the text with a leading of 7.7pt and not the 9.2pt you think is applied.
Judging by your document it looks like you've added these paragraph markers so that you can line the text up on additional lines using tab stops. This is bad because if you ever need to resize the text frame it will break the flow of the text giving you horrible gaps because of the paragraph markers and tab stops being moved. This can be solved by setting the First Line Indent and Left Indent correctly. If you set the First Line Indent to 0pt and the Left Indent to 15pt you will get a result that looks exactly like your text frame, but this time flows correctly without the need for any additional tab stops or paragraph markers. See the attached document

carl123 reacted to h_d in Shortcut for adding new child layer
Sorry @carl123 , I misunderstood.
The default keyboard shortcut for a New Pixel Layer on macOS is Cmd+Shift+N.
However, Cmd+Shift+M is defined by default as displaying the Media Browser, which I suspect is a macOS-only feature.
Without disturbing the default shortcut settings, your suggestion works for me on macOS if I assign the Insertion Inside option to Cmd+Shift+O (letter O).
There is no need to release the Command and Shift keys between typing the two letters.

carl123 got a reaction from Waldbaer in Photo Batch processing does not save
If it's any consolation I recall seeing similar behaviour ( some time ago) to what you are seeing with some files not being processed by the batch function
I abandoned my efforts in Affinity and used FastStone instead to do all my batch processing work.
Cant suggest a way to recreate what I experienced (too long ago) but if you can come up with a recreatable scenario that the Devs can reproduce they may be able to see what is occurring.
Hang on in there.

Or even easier still, just select the Blur Brush Tool and blur those faces into oblivion.
Assuming you never want to see (recover) them again then the job's done.

carl123 reacted to Medical Officer Bones in Color lift off!
In Affinity Photo a similar function is available, but only to remove white (or black when the image is inverted first). You'll find it in Filters-->Colors-->Erase White Paper.
It is, however, quite limited compared to PhotoLine's Color to Transparency function in regards to options and control, and in Affinity this is a destructive filter (PhotoLine's version of this filter is non-destructive and can be stacked, if required).

carl123 got a reaction from stokerg in Merge all layers with the same name Photo
Not sure exactly what you are doing in your macro but can you not group together all the layers called "abc", also name the group "abc", then when you record the macro just select the group by name.

carl123 got a reaction from michaelsboost in Color to Alpha filter?
One way...
If you have black line art on a Cyan/coloured background
Add a Black and White Adjustment layer to it
Bake in the adjustment (Rasterise, Merge, Flatten etc)
Then use the Filters > Colours > Erase White Paper command
