I tried on a new simple document with a rectangle as an object

If it's the red "nodes" (red handles) you are looking for, there are no "nodes" on a basic Rectangle for the Node Tool to interact with

Try it on a Rounded Rectangle and it will work

Just confirming. In Affinity Publisher, it is not possible to export from an afpub file to a txt file, correct?

I'm looking for a way to export all the contents of text frames to a basic txt file, ignoring all the images in the afpub file. Any thoughts?

You can print to a text format file

How well that works with Publisher, I have no idea

    (Ignore step 9)

  3. For future reference:

If you just resize the Artboard your existing layers will not rescale

If you need them to, try this...

Select the Artboard in the Layers Panel and do Layer > Convert Artboard to Object this will convert it to a Rectangle

You can then use Document Setup to resize the document using the Rescale option to rescale all the layers

You can then add an Artboard back to your document (using the Artboard Tool) if so desired

Any advice, recommendations would be very much appreciated.

In the first screenshot you posted, switch off Hardware Acceleration

I have that same graphics "card" and new documents take much longer to open with it on, though not as long as you are experiencing.

I also get random crashes and freezing with it on

Just switch it off for now and keep it off to eliminate it from any future issues

It seems the ten year-old said "Cycle Selection" instead of "Rotate selection" and thus did satisfy the OP's literally demand not to say the latter.

In the video the OP supplied he is seen doing Select > Cycle Selection Box which apparently solved the OP's problem

Somebody wake that ten-year-old kid up, we need to talk

As I said before, the problem was solved with the help of a ten-year-old kid on another forum.

As far as I am aware Select > Cycle Selection Box is a temporary setting useful for snapping in some circumstances

So, not exactly sure what your initial problem was or how this cured it for you

Guess, I 'm going to have to find a ten-year-old kid to explain it to me

Its not the worst thing ever, considering I'll just save as

Your file looks quite simple as regards the number of layers etc but if it was a more complex file, it may not have completely loaded into memory so a File > Save as... may not work in those circumstances.

Affinity highly recommends only working on local drives and using external drive for backups only

What sort of external drive were you working from/saving to?

Which help file would that be, & for which version (V1 or V2)?

    APhoto V2 help file

The 3 'Hold the while...' items (two of which appear to be duplicates) do not in your paste show which key(?) to hold, nor do any that I have tried work to zoom in & out or left & right in V2 on my Mac.

Looks like copying from the Help file is a bit problematic and has missed out words

I have updated my post above with the missing words now added in bold

Plus, about the preview when exporting: I don't find any option the view... how can I see the preview at 100% or more?

    From the Help file...

When previewing your export, the following modifier keys can be used to zoom in to areas of interest and view the results of different settings applied in the dialog:

    • Hold the CTRL key while scrolling (using a scroll wheel, if available) to zoom in and out of the preview.
    • Hold the Shift key while scrolling (using a scroll wheel, if available) to scroll left or right.
    • Press CTRL + to zoom in.
    • Press CTRL - to zoom out.
    • Press CTRL +1 to zoom to 100%.
    • Press CTRL +0 to zoom to fit.

    I upload two files.

One is of the jpg in question.

The other is the OutlineFX applied to a PNG test render. On my machine there are black dots all over the image. (Really unexpected behaviour)

In the texture file the blend modes work but you need another layer beneath them to see the effect (try another jpg placed below your image- resize it to fill the canvas)

The Render file has 100s of Partially Transparent pixels giving the Dots effect. You can see them if you do Select > Select Alpha Range > Select Partially Transparent with the image layer selected
