Open DNG file
carl123 replied to Dooblaque's topic in Pre-V2 Archive of Affinity on Desktop Questions (macOS and Windows)
50MB is probably too large for this forum. Create a free account on something like https://www.dropbox.com/ then you can upload your file and share it via a URL created on the same site -
Open DNG file

@Dooblaque I know you sent a sample DNG to Serif but can you upload one here (or provide a link to one, if too big to upload) Then others can test the loading time and if any have the same times as yours, then comparisons of the OS, software and hardware specs may provide pointers to the cause of the "problem" -
London Zoo visit , 4th Jan 2017 Nice to see the animal rides have been updated. Last time I was there (back in 1973) I only got to sit on a stationary donkey for a few minutes .

Yup +1 Anyone that wants to improve their work will always be open to suggestions, especially me, so I have no problems with someone offering alternative or additional advice on how they would have done what I did.

Nice photo but without seeing the original it's hard to see how much Affinity has improved it

If you look at the edges of the couple in the picture you can see it is jaggy in places, like the lady's left arm and her hair. A simple and quick trick to fix this is to select the Blur brush and using a small size brush just run the brush along the jaggy edges of the couple, which helps the image blend in to the background better.

Like Mike said it can be a number of reasons. The best way to get better advice on something like this is to attach the picture in question

Exporting
carl123 replied to browndogben's topic in Pre-V2 Archive of Affinity on Desktop Questions (macOS and Windows)
There have been a few posts in the past where users have obviously been confused with this There is simply no reason for the words "Affinity Files" to be in that particular export dialogue box, it should just say *.jpg, *.tiff or whatever format the user has selected. By adding the words "Affinity Files" it looks like you are about to save in some form of proprietary Affinity file format Mucho confusion the first time you encounter it -
Grid and UI
carl123 replied to Morten_Hjort's topic in Tutorials (Serif and Customer Created Tutorials)
The picture you have attached shows the bottom row of 4 pictures with uneven horizontal spacing. I assumed you wanted to know how to align the 4 pictures with equal spacing. If so, you just select all 4 pictures and use the Align Horizontally command (space horizontally) to do so. If not, can you elaborate on what it is you want to do? -

AD has built in commands to align objects horizontally or vertically, with equal spacing between objects Search the built-in help for.. aligning objects post again if you still need more help on this -
There is no need to do it another way if you have already done the 1 - 5 steps previously given by mac_heibu. Just continue with steps 6 - 9 below 1. Select the layer you want to re-color. 2. Click onto the small icon at the bottom of the "Layers" section named "Adjustments". 3. Choose "Black and White". -> An (non destructive) adjustment layer is placed on top of your image layer and the image turns black and white. 4. Drag this adjustment layer onto your image layer. -> An adjustment layer mask is created. 5. Select this layer mask and paint onto it. -> Black restores the colours. Continue here 6. Select the Black and White adjustment layer mask on its own 7. From the menus, Select > Selection From Layer 8. Then select the background layer 9. From the menus, Filters > Blur > Gaussian Blur and adjust the blur as required

@squeezer All the videos are shown running on a Mac computer The so called "traffic lights" will only show on a Mac computer On Windows you will just have a simple "X" on the top right of the dialog box. Pressing the red traffic light on a Mac dialog box is the same as pressing the "X" on a Windows PC and simply closes the dialog box

There is no new option for the selection brush, are you sure you have the right tool? A screenshot of your screen or a video of what you are doing may be useful

Teeth Whitening
carl123 replied to Jokin's topic in Pre-V2 Archive of Affinity on Desktop Questions (macOS and Windows)
There are some Youtube videos for teeth whitening using affinity photo https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jsfq43N42Ak https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kv7o2EDve90 (part 1) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GM_lI0o5rwY (part 2) -
The Global Cloning video here (https://vimeo.com/149628411) does not even mention the Sources Panel and following the instructions it does not work until you go into the sources panel and double click your source (It may have been made for an earlier version of AP) This later video on Global Cloning is much, much more informative https://vimeo.com/192599318
