I am experiencing a great deal of lag when doing basic painting in Affinity Designer. It happens with any brush and the smudge tool. I predominantly use Affinity Designer 2, but the same issue occurs in AP 2 on the same document. After even just a few minutes painting, Designer or Photo begins to lag and sometimes freezes completely causing me to force quit. I have reduced the document size from 16 x 12 inches to 14 x 10 inches to see if that helps, but the lag continues. The file size is about 40 MB. I have opened an exported png of the document in another digital art app, but have not experienced any lag. The document is roughly the same size in both software. I'm using a 2019 27 inch iMac, with OSX Ventura, and a 2019 Wacom Cintiq 16 inch display. My computer has recently been serviced and upgraded with 16G RAM and 1 TB SSD. Hardware acceleration is off. Hi there Thanks for your response. I'm uploading the raster_brushes.protocol files to dropbox. I have reinstalled the brush categories I lost, so not sure if recovery is necessary (??). I haven't experienced Affinity crashing again yet.

I had duplicated a brush and was in the middle of adjusting the size of the brush using the slider in the brush editor when Affinity Photo crashed and I had to force quit. When I restarted the app, all my custom brush categories had disappeared, including ones I have purchased from designers and installed from the add-ons screen - basically everything except the default brush categories. I have been using some of these brush categories for a least 12 months with no issue, though some are newer. I'm running Affinity Photo 1.10.5 on OSX Monteray 12.6. I use a Wacom Cintiq 2019.
