Try to setup the notes section on page 18 (2. section). The first on on that page is number 6. I try to set the dividing line to a thickness of 0.5 pt for the whole document. The application crashes immediately. This happens since foot notes are possible in AP. Affinity Publisher 2.1.0.1709 beta , Windows 10 Papin_20230224 - Kopie.afpub

Changing rule above footnote crashes Publisher
Michael Hofmann replied to geirrosset's topic in V2 Bugs found on macOS
Same to me: AP 2.0.4 with Windows 10 -
Hi, you are right. I changed the place for foot notes to the bottom of the text. It is indeed easier for the reader. The original intention was that the foot note explains the table. The table is happening over 3 pages. For that reason the author wanted to have the footnote some pages later. I could convince him to do differently. Nevertheless, the behaviour is strange to me. Thank you for your time.

Michael Hofmann reacted to a post in a topic: footnote takes main text to the next frame
-
I took the wrong type there. Yes, but with footnotes it doesn't work either. I have two tables next to the heading on each page. The footnote should appear at the end of the second page. That is the plan, which unfortunately does not work. I have attached the finished look as a PDF. I did not create this with Affinity. *** Translated with www.DeepL.com/Translator (free version) *** Seiten aus Als aus Nachbarn Juden wurden.pdf

I want the text of the footnote to be a multi-line heading at the end of the second frame. To do this, I have shortened the first frame. Unfortunately, either the first line of the footnote remains in the first frame or the entire footnote is in the second frame. But then also the last line of the heading. An example is attached. How can I get the footnote on the second frame and keep the heading in the first frame) (The rest of the page is filled with tables that are not in the frame.) Maybe somebody can help here? footnote_hoppping.afpub

@Pyanepsion, thanks for your excelent answers. I treid to understand and now I know, what I did wrong maybe. I am a learner and enoyed your lessons in DTP: To picture 4 and your question regardung the pns. They should pin the small lines to the corresponding text. I reworked the file with your hints. Especcially the notes is the new and needed thing for me. before, I tried to do notes manually. Now it is easy, but: on page 20 and 21 (and 60) the notes disappears when the textbox is extended. I am not able to make those nice videos or pictures to demonstarte this. I repost the new file here. Another sad thing: When changing the notes for the whole document regarding the lines before the following note (and the next page), the programm chrashes immidiatly. Thanks in advance Michael Als aus Nachbarn Juden wurden 2022_12_10#2.afpub

Thanks for commenting. I am a bloody beginner in DTP and never learned it. Let me try to explain, the things you mentioned: 1. There should be only one continuous text box from the beginning to the end of your book. => I wnat to have chapters in the book. To me it seems easier to handle this with one frame per chapter. So I can move them and maybe make them a little longer. 2. Captions should be in the text on the line. ==> This is a rework of an older book. In the original book, the capütions are done like this. Sometoimes under the picture, sometimes beside. 3. Images should be positioned in front of the text with a wrap. ==> I think I did this. 4. Note calls should be located before punctuation. ==> Sure, but my customer wants this exactly like it is. 5. Notes should not be bolded. ==> This is an error by me that will be corrected. 6. All paragraphs should end with a line break or paragraph end. ==> Didn't I do this? Thanks for your corrected file. I try to understand how it works and IF it works like I supposed.

I have two linked frames with many footnotes in the text. The footnotes are created as "split". When I extend the first frame, the footnotes disappear. When the frame is dragged back to the original length, then they are there again. (See page 20) The program cannot be used in this way. Als aus Nachbarn Juden wurden 2022_12_03_Porezag Noten.afpub

Cross reference support
Michael Hofmann replied to The Wook's topic in Feedback for Affinity Publisher V1 on Desktop
Hi! Good question. Answer easy: The very good price and no pay model like Adobe. I started with Affinity some years ago and had never the need for foot notes. But now we need this feature. I thought this application have this on board. It seems to be a really good application with many things in it. For that reason I was very astonished, that this is not in. If Serif don't want to develop this in publisher, then this should be cleary told. Michael -

Hi! I am searching urgently for the cross reference functionality like it is in word. At the moment I write a book with 250 pages, 500 foot notes and many cross references. The manual numbering of the foot notes is very time comsuming and can cause many errors. The lack of cross reference is more problematic. When will this feature be ready. As far as I can see, the community is waitung at least since 2018.
